For me, Jerry Buss was my mentor. To me, he was not Dr. Buss. He was professor Buss.

Phil Jackson recalled Kobe Bryant trade demands in 2007 & how Dr. Buss responded well with patience. Jackson also recalled how he promised Buss on his first visit that he’d deliver him another championship. Jackson wound up bringing five.

4:05 p.m.

Shaq: “To each and every one of us in this room, Dr. Jerry Buss was everything.”

Shaq joking, “He gave me everything I wanted. I wanted a first extension. He extended me. I wanted a second extension. He extended me. I wanted a third extension. He traded me”

Lakers forward Pau Gasol spoke in Spanish because Buss “wanted the best team in the world for his fans”
