Madame Tussauds Hollywood pays tribute to Kobe Bryant’s wax figure

With Kobe Bryant nursing a sprained left ankle that kept him out of two games in the past week, Madame Tussuads Hollywood made a unique and symbolic gesture in hoping to help the healing process.

This past week, Bryant’s wax figure was strapped with a muscle stimulator that he normally attaches to treat his injured left ankle. Underneath Bryant’s likeness stood a get-well card that various Lakers fans signed.

“He’s such a local staple that we wanted to give people a way to show their appreciation for him,” said Brittany Hershkowitz, a spokesperson for Madame Tussuads Hollywood. “We came up with the idea and thought it would be fun to do. It’s been great with our visitors and great for his fans.”

With Bryant planning to return tonight when the Lakers (36-33) host the Washington Wizards (24-43) at Staples Center, the famed Hollywood exhibit plans to feature the muscle stimulator and the get-well card through this weekend.

“People appreciated it,” Hershkowitz said, “and they definitely get it.”
