Mike D’Antoni skeptical Steve Nash will play against the Clippers

The wait continues.

Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni considers Steve Nash “very doubtful” to play Sunday against the Clippers in a designated road game at Staples Center.

“It doesn’t look good,” D’Antoni said. “I don’t think he’s going to go tomorrow.”

Nash didn’t participate in any of Saturday’s practice. D’Antoni said he’s still holding out hope Nash will return when the Lakers play Tuesday against the New Orleans Hornets at Staples Center.

Nash has sat out the past two games and had missed significant portions in two other games. The Lakers have already played without Nash for a good chunk of the season. He missed 24 games because of a fractured left leg. Is this another serious injury?

“I don’t know how to address that one. It’s serious because he’s not playing.

Steve Blake will start for the third consecutive game. He’s averaged 10.6 points in the past three games, though he committed four turnovers in the Lakers’ win Friday over the Memphis Grizzlies.
