Kobe Bryant goes from cast to walking boot

Only 10 days after having surgery to repair a torn left Achilles’ tendon Kobe Bryant literally made one significant step forward in his recovery.

“Cast off today. I have zero swelling and virtually no pain. Boot now for a few months. I start therapy…” Bryant tweeted with a link to an Instagram photo.

The photo shows one image of Bryant wearing a cast while keep his left foot elevated and another image of Bryant strapped in a walking boot. Bryant’s transition from cast to boot shows he’s made enough progress where he can apply enough pressure on his foot without compromising the recovery.

Bryant also tweeted Tuesday that he can’t attend any of the Lakers’ road playoff games because he hasn’t been cleared to travel yet. But he’s tweeted that he plans on attending both Games 3 (Friday) and 4 (Sunday) of the Lakers’ first-round series against the San Antonio Spurs, though it’s unlikely he would sit on the bench. Lakers trainer Gary Vitti has estimated Bryant to stay sidelined for at least a month.
