Jeanie Buss outlines reasons in tweet to Dwight Howard on why he should stay

Less than two hours awaits before Dwight Howard will sit down for the Lakers and hear their case on why he should stay.

Lakers president Jeanie Buss isn’t expected to be a part of the meeting, but she still made her case in 140 characters.

The Lakers’ meeting is expected to include Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, coach Mike D’Antoni, general manager Mitch Kupchak, vice president of player personnel Jim Buss and representatives from Time Warner Cable, possibly more. The Lakers have hoped having the last word will help them address any concerns Howard may have had since visiting other teams, including the Houston Rockets (Sunday), Atlanta Hawks (Monday), Golden State Warriors (Monday) and Dallas Mavericks (Tuesday).

Houston’s considered to have an advantage with its young roster featuring James Harden, its popularity in China stemmed from Yao Ming and coach Kevin McHale’s background as an established post player with the Boston Celtics. Howard has also experienced frustrations his first season with the Lakers, including his offensive role in D’Antoni’s system, personality differences with Bryant and a larger media market.

It remains to be seen how the Lakers will answer such concerns. But they’ve drummed up in recent days plenty of support for Howard in the form of billboards, Kupchak’s public praises and, lately, tweets from prominent Lakers. Including the team’s president.
