After spending time in Germany undergoing a procedure on his right knee, Lakers guard Kobe Bryant plans to return to Los Angeles pretty soon.

“I’ll think he’ll be back with us tomorrow,” Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni said.

Bryant left late Wednesday night for Germany to have a form of platelet-rich plasma therapy on his right knee called Orthokine, which involves removing blood from an affected area and spinning it into a centrifuge to isolate platelets. A source familiar with the procedure described it as “routine” and doesn’t indicate any serious issues with his knee. The Lakers star had a similar procedure two years ago both on his right knee and left ankle.

Before Bryant left, he fit in some light jogging drills and set-shot drills as he rehabs his surgically repaired left tendon. The Lakers haven’t offered any timetable on Bryant’s progression, let alone if he will play in the season opener Oct. 29 against the Clippers at Staples Center.

“When he’s ready to roll,” D’Antoni said, “he’s ready to go.”

But D’Antoni admits not knowing much about Bryant’s progression, namely because they didn’t talk when he was overseas.

Said D’Antoni: “I don’t have the international plan.”
