Jordan Farmar sitting out to play things safe

ONTARIO — Jordan Farmar laid out by his locker hardly phased about what’s keeping him off the court.

He has missed the past two preseason games, including the Lakers’ 90-88 win Monday over the Denver Nuggets at Citizens Business Bank Arena, because of a strained right calf. But the Lakers expect him to return Thursday when the Lakers play the Sacramento Kings in Las Vegas.

Perhaps that’s why as he wrapped a heating pad around his injured body part, Farmar hardly sounded concerned about it.

“It’s getting much better everyday,” Farmar said. “There’s no point in having it linger when it’s the preseason. So the better we just knock it all out.”

Farmar recalled the injury happening at some point of the Lakers’ 104-95 preseason win Saturday over the Golden State Warriors, but that the pain didn’t feel all that serious. He finished with 12 points on 4 of 10 shooting and seven assists through 28 minutes in that game.

“It actually felt like a cramp,” said Farmar, who also has iced his right calf. “I thought I was cramping up so I played through it. It’s just a minor strain.”
