Wesley Johnson, Jordan Farmar doubtful for Lakers’ preseason game Thursday vs. Kings

Both Lakers forward Wesley Johnson and Lakers guard Jordan Farmar are considered doubtful to play in the team’s preseason game Thursday against the Sacramento Kings in Las Vegas, because of persisting injuries.

Johnson missed the Lakers’ preseason win Tuesday over the Denver Nuggets after an MRI revealed he has a strained tendon in his left foot. He sat out of the end of Wednesday’s practice receiving electronic stimulation on his foot. Meanwhile, Farmar has sat out of the past two preseason games because of a strained right calf.

Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni still expressed optimism that they will return for the team’s week-long China trip where they will play a pair of exhibition games against the Golden State Warriors in Beijing (Oct. 15) and Shanghai (Oct. 18).

Meanwhile, D’Antoni plans to play Pau Gasol and Steve Nash for the five remaining exhibition games. They sat out of the preseason opener because the Lakers played on a back-to-back.
