Lakers send Ryan Kelly, Elias Harris to D-Fenders

The Lakers assigned seldom-used rookies Ryan Kelly and Elias Harris Thursday to the D-Fenders, the team’s Development League affiliate.

It’s unclear how long both players will stay with the D-Fenders, but their season starts Nov. 24 at the Lakers’ practice facility in El Segundo Nov. 23 against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

The Lakers currently have 11 players on their roster when equating long-term injuries to Kobe Bryant (torn left Achilles tendon) and Steve Nash (back). But Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak recently told this newspaper he has no plans on making any additional moves.

The Lakers drafted Kelly 48th overall in the 2013 NBA Draft from Duke. He’s made two appearances in seven combined minutes, hitting two of his three shot attempts. Harris, an undrafted forward, has missed his lone field goal in 11 combined minutes. Kelly’s contract isn’t guaranteed until Jan. 10, while Harris has a partial guarantee in his deal.

The Lakers (4-6) enter a four-game homestand this week at Staples Center, beginning with a game Friday against the Memphis Grizzlies (4-5).
