Jodie Meeks leaves Lakers-Minnesota game with right ankle sprain

MINNEAPOLIS — Jodie Meeks left the Lakers’ game Tuesday against the Minnesota Timberwolves because of a sprained right ankle and won’t return.

Meeks left with 10:33 left in the first quarter after appearing to twist his ankle. Meeks had also nursed a mild sore right ankle in recent weeks, but didn’t keep him out of any games.

Meeks’ absence marks another rash of Lakers’ injuries that never appear to end. Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol aren’t expected to return in another two weeks. Xavier Henry won’t play in this week’s trip in stops in Cleveland (Wednesday) and Philadelphia (Friday) because of a bone bruise in his right knee. The Lakers had just returned a flurry of healthy point guards to the lineup, including Steve Nash, Steve Blake and Jordan Farmar.
