CLEVELAND — What could be more bizarre than the Lakers squeaking out a 119-108 win Wednesday over the Cleveland Cavaliers with only five players eligible to play?
Well, there’s one thing.
The Lakers can’t seem to ever play a game where a player doesn’t suffer an injury. Nick Young became the latest victim, twisting his left knee after Cleveland guard C.J. Miles wrapped him up on a fast-break with 2:16 remaining in the second quarter. The pain felt bad enough for Young to receive an MRI Thursday to determine his status for when the Lakers play Friday in Philadelphia.
“That’s why I be fighting people down there,” said Young, referencing his ejection in Phoenix last month. “They were down 30. They could’ve let me get that layup.”
Miles didn’t do that.
“They wrapped me up,” Young said. “All my momentum was messed up. It messed up my footing. I planted it wrong. We’ll see what happens. I’ll hope for the best.”
