My name is Dan Abendschein and I am a courts reporter for the paper who often finds himself fantasizing about getting out of the newsroom and up into the mountains for the day. I know there are some places to find information about local activities, but I think our local media has often ignored the large community in the Los Angeles area that enjoys hiking, biking, kayaking, horseback-riding, off-roading, mountain climbing, etc.

My intention is to pass along as much relevant information as I can on these subjects, and to act as a forum for the outdoors community. All are welcome, no matter what the activity. We may sometimes disagree about who should be allowed to use a particular outdoors area, and how they should be allowed to use it, but we all share the love of getting away from the concrete jungle.
