Discussion question of the day: Do you favor a longer school year?

As mentioned in other of today's posts, President Obama has floated the idea of extending the school year further into the summer, arguing that kids don't spend as much time in class as in other countries. What do you think? Do you favor an extended school year? How would that impact you for good or for ill?
