Thank you all
I want to thank all who sent e-mails in response to my first column. They were all supportive and heartfelt. I also want to thank those who have pledged money for the upcoming ALS walks at USC and Irvine.

Dear Leo,
My friend James Jarrell was diagnosed with ALS in April 2006 and took his own life on April 27th in El Segundo. We were all shocked that he would do that and not reach out for help. But in his note, he said that he didn't want to be a burden to his son and ex-wife. On that Thursday, he walked down to the El Segundo City Hall and took his own life so his son wouldn't find him at home. I had called him on Friday, the 28th and was told that he was gone. He was only 55. I knew James was a very emotional person. He also worked at home and was somewhat isolated. I think he felt he had no way out.
I know your public fight against ALS will be an inspiration to others. The information in the website will be very valuable to many who take the time to read it. People need to know they're not alone, and by making this public, you are reaching out to others.
Good luck to you and God bless you.
