Utah rallied valiantly for three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth to tie 5-5 and send them game into extra innings. But Nevada scored five times in the seventh, highlighted by Michael Blasko's third home run of the game.

Blasko has added another home run - this a three-run, estimated-300-foot-shot to right field - to increase Nevada's lead to 5-0.

The ball sailed over the glove of a man standing 15 yards beyond the right-field fence.

Hawaii scored two in the first, then got a two-run double from C-boy Donahue in the second and leads 4-0 in the bottom of the second.
Southern California Aliso Viejo got a strong pitching performance from Kyle Molnar and a huge grand slam home run from Steven Harrison to defeat Utah 8-0 and even its record to 1-1 in the Western Regional.

Utah got an equally strong pitching effort from Kayden Lunt who struck out 10 batters, before giving way to relievers in the fifth. Utah, however, could never get anything rolling offensively against Molnar, who went to 5 2/3 before giving way to Kenji Teshima. Molnar struck out eight batters.

Utah falls to 1-1.

More to come.

The Cedar City (Utah) Little Leaguers upset the team from Glendale (Ariz.) 4-3, scoring the winning run in the sixth inning.

Brock Esplin drove in the winning run for Utah, hitting a grounder to third base with one out. Arizona third baseman Harris Lyons got Esplin at first base, but the throw by first baseman Degan Harte arrived too late to nail the sliding Trevor Sanders at home.

The loss snapped a 17-game regional losing streak for Utah, dating back to 2002.

Hunter Low had a two-run home run for Utah and Kayden Lunt had a pair of hits.

Nate Calles had a two-run home run for Arizona and Owen Sanborn had a solo homer.

Utah
Cedar City American is coming for the first time.

Nevada
Henderson Paseo Verde is making its first appearance.

Oregon

Washington
Mill Creek faced a tough task against Bainbridge Island, and still faces a tough road to San Bernardino against one of five teams still alive. Mill Creek's program is one of the state's best but hasn't been in California in 2002.

Arizona
Pool play wraps up Thursday, with the semifinals on Friday and the championship on Saturday. Arrowhead has been tough in Pool A, but look out for Canyon View and Scottsdale McCormick Ranch. Arrowhead is unbeaten.

Northern California
The tournament opened on Wednesday. Pleasanton had an impressive offensive effort with 18 runs in its win over Foothill. East Turlock American needed eight innings for a 1-0 win over Briarwood-El Camino. The winners bracket features Petaluma Valley and Woodcreek.

Southern California
It's starting to feel like an all Orange County final with Aliso Viejo already in the So Cal final, while Tustin needs a victory to advance.

Hawaii
The title game was played on Wednesday between Kaimuki and Waipio, which reached the West last season. Kaimuki was unbeaten but it had not played Waipio in the tournament.

Alaska, Montana, Idaho and Wyoming
It's uncertain as to which teams are in the state tournaments here but it would not be surprising to see the usual suspects: Missoula Southside (Montana), Dimond West (Alaska), North Boise (Idaho) and Laramie (Wyoming) back in San Bernardino.
We've got our second team headed to San Bernardino -- Nevada's Paseo Verde.

While we don't have a final score, Henderson's Paseo Verde defeated Las Vegas Mountain Ridge in the title game played Tuesday afternoon in Elko. Paseo Verde used strong pitching and offense to overpower the field.

Paseo Verde and Utah's Cedar City American are the first two teams in the West Regional.
