Red Bluff Little League scored three runs in the first inning and made it hold up, advancing to Saturday’s championship game.
Nick Rodriguez (double) and Wesley Clawson (single) had back-to-back, two-out RBIs in the first inning for Red Bluff. Rodriguez scored what proved to be the game-winning run on a throwing error by pitcher Cade Adams.
Adams went the distance for Silverado Little League of Las Vegas, striking out nine and allowing just two earned runs in six innings.
Silverado (2-3), the third seed, got both its runs in the fifth inning. Omar Ortiz singled and came around to score on a wild pitch. Buddie Pindel reached on an error and scored on Mikey Ruiz’s double.
Shortstop Lane Pritchard took the mound and closed out the inning, then pitched a 1-2-3 sixth for the save.
Red Bluff (3-2), the No. 2 seed, plays the winner of tonight’s game between Southern California and Utah for the West Region championship.
