UFC 151 CANCELED, DANA WHITE NOT HAPPY WITH JON JONES

UFC President Dana White just announced on a conference call that the entire card for UFC 151 has been canceled because of a knee injury to light heavyweight contender Dan Henderson.
Not making matters any easier — or White any happier — was UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones refusing to accept a last-minute bout against former middleweight challenger Chael Sonnen, who had agreed to take the fight on just eight days’ notice.
“Every day, crazy (stuff) happens. Here’s a new crazy one for us,” White said.
UFC 151 was supposed to take place Sept. 1 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
White, describing the decision by Jones and his camp as “disgusting,” pointed out that Jones is the first UFC champion ever to turn down a match.
“I don’t know what to expect from Jon Jones anymore. He just selfishly made a terrible decision that affects a lot of people,” White said.
Jones will now fight former light heavyweight champ Lyoto Machida on Sept. 22 in Toronto at UFC 152.
Henderson’s last fight was a Fight of the Year victory over Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in November. White said Henderson tried to train and get through the injury, but there was nothing they could do after Henderson went in for a doctor visit.
White spared no words for Jones and his trainer Greg Jackson, mentioning that millions of dollars have already been spent on marketing, as well as the cost to the other fighters who were supposed to be on the UFC 151 card.
“Good for you, Jon Jones, that you have money, but there’s a bunch of guys that needed to fight to feed their families,” White said.
Welterweight Charlie Brenneman (@SpaniardMMA), who was supposed to fight Kyle Noke on the undercard, quickly took to Twitter to rip Jones.
“@jonnybones u can send my check to PO box 198. EH NJ. Rent is due the first, so preferably by then. Thanks.”
In an interview on Tapout radio, Jackson said Jones would have fought Sonnen at UFC 152. He also defended his team’s decision while chiding the notion that his fighter would have had eight days to prepare to defend his belt against a different opponent.
“It’s really three days’ notice. We all know what fight week is like. It’s all media,” Jackson said.
White said ticketholders for UFC 151 at Mandalay Bay will get refunded.
