Video: Would you see a gritty, crime thriller version of 'Mortal Kombat?'

A couple weeks ago an online frenzy followed a video clip some believed to be a short promotional film for a new Mortal Kombat video game or big-screen feature.

Recent reports reveal that the $7,500 8-minute video directed by Fame helmer Kevin Tancharoen is a self-produced project illustrating his vision for a new movie in the Kombat franchise.  You'll recognize actors Michael Jai White (Black Dynamite), and Jeri Ryan (Star Trek Voyager).

Credit to this young filmmaker for some shrewd marketing online.  A little mystery followed by a little buzz and next thing you know we're all talking about it.
