Water district recognized for Excellence in Financial Reporting
MONTCLAIR - Monte Vista Water District has been awarded the "Certificate of
Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting" for its comprehensive annual financial report for 2008-2009.
The award was granted by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA), a Chicago-based nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals.
The "Certificate of Achievement" is the highest form of recognition in the area of
governmental accounting and financial reporting, according to Stephen Gauthier, director of
GFOA.
"Attaining this recognition represents a significant accomplishment by Monte Vista
Water District and its management," he commented in a press release.
2008-2009 financial report is the District's sixth consecutive award from GFOA.
The District's comprehensive annual financial report was judged by an impartial panel to
meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating "a constructive spirit of full
disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story and to motivate potential users and user
groups to read the report," according to GFOA.
"Monte Vista Water District's Board of Directors is very proud of its management and the
department of finance and administration for attaining this honor," said Tony Lopez, board
member and auditor.
"This recognition is a clear demonstration of the District's continuing
commitment to achieve and maintain the highest standards of excellence in financial
management and reporting," Lopez stated.
