Art/poster contest
The Chino Basin Water Conservation District is inviting K-12 schools within the district's boundaries to participate in the district's annual poster contest. The theme of the poster contest is "Promoting."
Two awards will be given this year.
For kindergarten through sixth grade and for seven through 12th graders winning entry will receive a check for $250 and their respective art class will receive teacher choice of educational and/or art supplies totaling $1,000.
Artwork needs to relate to the concept of conserving water, promoting the conservation of water, using water wisely.
Entrants are asked to submit artwork relating to the theme on poster paper up to, but no larger than 12 by 18-inches.
On the backside of the artwork students should write their name, school, grade level and teacher.

Reeder Ranch Fundraiser
The Reeder Heritage Foundation will host its second fundraiser on Saturday16.
The foundation will host Twilight at the Reeder Citrus Ranch at 5 p.m. at 4405 W. Holt Blvd., Montclair.
This will be a hot grill, cool jazz and fine wine event.
Tickets are $25 each or 10 for $200.

Lights on after school event
No matter where they live, how old they are and what they're interested in, all children and youth can find exciting, educational and fun activities at afterschool programs.
This week, afterschool programs across the country will showcase the activities they offer and the accomplishments of their students at the 11 annual Lights On Afterschool, the only nationwide rally for afterschool.
Organized by the Afterschool Alliance, more than a million people are expected to participate this year in more than 7,500 Lights On Afterschool events across the country.
The city will host their Lights On Afterschool at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Community Center near City Hall, 5111 Benito St., Montclair.
Free health fair
Montclair Human Services will host a free health fair on Tuesday.
The annual event will offer health screenings and information from 9 a.m. to noon at 5111 Benito St., Montclair.
Flu shots will also be available for a nominal fee based on availability.

This event is sponsored by the city, Chino Valley Medical Center, Montclair Hospital Medical Center and Montclair-Ontario Jr. Women's Club.
New Senior Center to open
Montclair Senior Center will finally be open.
Join the city for the grand opening of the new Montclair Senior Center from 9 a.m. to noon on Oct. 23 at the center, near City Hall, 5111 Benito St., Montclair.
The event will include tours of the new facility, displays of senior arts and crafts projects, community information and refreshments.
