Montclair Plaza is under new ownership, and the company now in charge of managing the shopping center is seeking to fill its largest vacancy.

"We're still assessing the property. We think it's a nice mall. It's got a nice location," said Jim Arce, a senior executive with Cushman & Wakefield. "What it really lacks is that (fifth) anchor. Our focus will be to redevelop the east end of the mall."

Cushman & Wakefield is managing Montclair Plaza for a group of lenders led by CWCapital Asset Management, said Arce, who is the real estate firm's executive managing director for investor services.

A proposal asking Montclair to support Ontario in its efforts to regain control of LA/Ontario International Airport is getting some pushback from one member of the council.

Montclair Councilman Bill Ruh said he is not opposed to Ontario's efforts but is hesitant to get involved in the matter.
Owners of the Healthy Hair Bar in Claremont were recently on an online radio show Mother Love promoting their new organic softener for curly or damaged hair called Organic Mineral Hair Softer.

The owners Rochelle and LaWanda Gear, of Ontario, crafted their product after finding out their mother had developed cancer because of all the chemicals she was inhaling as a hair stylist.

Their mother was diagnosed in 2009 with myeloma cancer. She is now cancer-free.
The community is invited to celebrate the new location of the Christian Development Center.

The center, formerly of Upland, moved to Montclair in November and has assisted the surrounding community for more than 10 years.

Hoping to assist more residents the center will host a outreach open house on March 26.

"We would like to show appreciation to our neighbors for welcoming us into the neighborhood," said Pastor Donald Rucker and Minister Ethel Rucker in a joint news release.

MONTCLAIR - The city and Ontario-Montclair School District are leaning on each other to provide services for children and families of the community.

By next month, the city's Family Resource Center - at 9916 Central Ave. - will finally open its doors to provide families who are experiencing issues related to poverty, stress, social isolation and trauma with resources in mental health and wellness.

"This center, even through it's in Montclair, will eventually help the entire region," said Kelsey De Forge, Montclair's resource analyst.
