John Geyer, a senior at La Canada High School, was 30th in the 3-meter portion of the 16-18 boys group in the FINA Junior Diving World Championships in Aachen, Germany on Tuesday. He scored 420.55 points.
Russia's Evgeny Kuznetsov won gold with 591.45 points. Kristian Ipsen of Clayton, Calif., was the highest finishing diver from the United States in sixth with 548.45 points.
Geyer will compete with Atlanta's Thad Ellis in the synchronized 3-meter competition today.
Pasadena Poly's Felicitas Lenz of Altadena was 19th in the 3-meter portion of the 16-18 girls group. She scored 381.55 points. China's Han Wang was the gold medalist at 497.15 points.
Jennifer Abel of Canada won silver after placing 13th on 3-meter in the Beijing Olympics last month.
There are about 220 divers from countries competing in the Junior Diving World Championships.
