A jury found Kevin Harville guilty Friday in connection with a crash while chasing an ex-girlfriend on a local freeway, killing another motorist with his vehicle's battery in October 2006.

Harville's Ford Explorer rolled over several times on the southbound 215 Freeway, pitching its battery into opposing traffic where it struck and killed motorist 30-year-old Shawn Billings Kettlewell.

After one day's deliberation, the jury found Harville guilty of second-degree murder, attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, according to San Bernardino Superior Court personnel.

SAN BERNARDINO - A man on trial for murder in the death of a motorist while chasing an ex-girlfriend on a freeway blamed the crash on a tire blowout.

Kevin Harville, who testified Wednesday in his own defense, said his ex-girlfriend's Ford Expedition sideswiped his customized Ford Explorer while he was parked on H Street, in San Bernardino.

Harville, 37, followed Rolanda Hill, yelling for her to pull over and talk about the crash, he said.

"I'm trying to tell her, `You hit my car, Rolanda. You hit my car,"' Harville testified.

Trial proceedings are scheduled to resume next week for Kevin Harville, who is suspected in the unusual death of a motorist on the 215 Freeway when he crashed while chasing an ex-girlfriend.

Harville's Ford Explorer rolled over several times on the southbound 215 Freeway, near Mill Street, pitching the vehicle's battery into opposing traffic where it struck and killed motorist 30-year-old Shawn Billings Kettlewell in October 2006.

The trial is scheduled to resume Monday in San Bernardino Superior Court after proceedings were postponed for more than a week when Deputy Public Defender Rod Curbelo was injured, according to Superior Court records.

A trial may be coming soon for a San Bernardino man charged in a rollover collision that launched a vehicle battery into opposing traffic on the 215 Freeway, killing a motorist.

Lawyers in the case of Kevin Harville announced they were ready for trial during proceedings today in San Bernardino Superior Court.

Harville returns to court Wednesday. If Deputy District Attorney Terry Brown and Deputy Public Defender Rod Curbelo remain ready, then Harville's trial will begin Thursday, according to Judge Bryan Foster.

Jury selection in the estimated two-week trial would also begin Thursday.

Lawyers have scheduled a jury trial later this month for Kevin Harville, who faces murder charges after a rollover crash while chasing an ex-girlfriend on the 215 Freeway caused the death of another motorist.

The trial was set for Oct. 27 in San Bernardino Superior Court, during proceedings today. Harville, 37, is scheduled to return to court Oct. 24 to confirm whether the trial will proceed.

During the rollover, a vehicle battery from Harville's Ford Explorer reportedly dislodged and fatally struck 30-year-old Shawn Billings Kettlewell, who was traveling in the opposite direction on Oct. 24, 2006, according to the California Highway Patrol.
