OK, enough with the monkeys. I'm tired of them. No more Monday Monkeys from me. If I find a good video, I'll post it, but I can't handle this kind of responsibility.

For our final episode we offer a dog and a monkey duking it out. Guess who wins?

OK, how cute is this? Makes you want to run out and get a monkey, doesn't it?

Last week we ran a clip of monkeys wearing hippie clothes and playing in a band. We thought it was hilarious, but a reader named I Like Toast (well, who doesn't?) sent us a letter saying there was nothing funny at all about monkeys wearing wigs.

In an effort to appease Ms. Toast, this week we offer something of a counterpoint. Humans dressed like monkeys!

Why this clip is funny, I have no idea. But it has been delighting of comedy fans since  it first appeared in the 1950s.

The Nairobi Trio, as the band is called, featured not much more than three people wearing monkey masks, hats and overcoats. It was the brainchild of television pioneer and and comedy genius Ernie Kovacs.

The monkey in the middle is apparently Kovacs himself. The one at the piano is his wife, Edie Adams. The identity of this ape on the left changed, but it is known that both Jack Lemmon and Frank Sinatra participated in the stunt at different times.

I bet there isn't a single wild monkey living anywhere in the South Bay. Which is too bad because what's funnier than a monkey doing some sort of human activity?  Put a chimp in a pair of suspenders or give him a cigarette and the laughs are just about guaranteed. it's pure comedy gold, I tell ya.
