BEAUMONT - Aurora Perry, Principal of Three Rings Ranch Elementary School in Beaumont, took two pies in the face to reward Kindergarten students for raising money for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.

The school raised $2,000. Students in Mrs. Robin Loufek's and Anna Hughes' classes collected the most pennies. Selected to pie the principal were Vincent Vogen and Amy Pierce, who agreed that covering Perry's face with whipped cream was "fun."

BEAUMONT, CA - What do you get when you mix stunt bicycle riders, a positive message and hundreds of elementary school students? You get an afternoon of fun.

That's what happened at Three Rings Ranch Elementary School recently when Wheels of Freestyle brought its anti-drug, anti-violence show to town. The event was a preview of Red Ribbon Week, a national campaign to stop youngsters from using illegal drugs.

"We wanted to do something all the kids could get excited about," said Three Rings Principal Aurora Perry. "We had heard about this group and its positive message, so we brought them in."

BEAUMONT, CA - Sean Longstreet knew the sound wouldn't be pretty. He knew it wouldn't be "the sound" musicians constantly seek. But it was an important sound, nonetheless.

For most of this group of six Three Rings Ranch Elementary School students, the sound they made as they puffed up their cheeks and blew into their shiny new saxophones was the first bit of music they had ever produced. From here on, their music will only get better.

"The kids love it," said Longstreet, the Beaumont Unified School District's roving elementary school music instructor. "They are so psyched up." Longstreet, an accomplished musician and songwriter at 24, directs 280 elementary school students at the District's six elementary schools.
