June Craft Classes
The craft class on June 11th, at 9:00 a.m. will be instructed by Kathy Antill. She will be teaching how to make American Flag door hangers for the 4th of July. The craft class on June 25, at 9:00 a.m. will be instructed by Diann Bratton, and she will show how to create a beautiful card. The craft classes are free and all supplies will be furnished. Cup O Joe Coffee Club
Monica Crow, with InterValley Health Plan will be at the Cup O Joe Coffee Club meeting at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, May 29th. She will be giving important tips on driver safety and mobility for older adults. Sign up at the Senior Center office.
Loma Linda University East Campus Hospital Presents a Community Education Series at the Yucaipa Senior Center
David Swope, MD, will speak about movement disorders, diagnosis, non-surgical and surgical treatment options at the meeting on Thursday, May 28th, from 10:30 - 11:30 am. Refreshments will be served.
Call the Senior Center to sign up. Future meetings will feature Memory Disorders, Joint Replacement, and Acute Stroke. Dates and times will be announced.

No appointments are needed; it will be on a first come first served basis, starting at 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. If you received a tax stimulus payment last year, you need to state how much it was. Stimulus payments are not taxable, but must be declared on your 2008 tax return. If you received a notice from the IRS, bring it with you.

Visiting Angels to Appear at the "Cup O Joe" Monthly Meeting
The Visiting Angels Living Assistance Services will present a free seminar on fall prevention tomorrow, February 27, at 10:00 am. Falls are the 2nd leading cause of accidental death in the American senior population. Attend this free seminar and learn how to eliminate risks and reduce chances of falling.
Free Movie Every Friday
Yucaipa Senior Center shows a free movie every Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. The movies are free and popcorn is served. No reservations are needed. Come and join the fun!

Inter Valley Health Plan to Provide Bone Density Screenings
Free bone density screenings will be provided by Inter Valley Health Plan on February 26, at 10:00 a.m. Monica Crow from Inter Valley Health Plan will teach about osteoporosis and how it can affect you. Light refreshments will be served. Call the Senior Center to sign up.
Save the Date for February's "Cup of Joe"

Your Health Options
Paula Ramos from Your Health Options will present a meeting December 3rd, at 10:00 a.m. to help explain your Medicare Open Enrollment options. She will help you compare medical plans based on your needs. For more information, call the Senior Center office.
Computer Class
Keep in mind that the Senior Center recently bought new computers. This is an excellent way for a seniors to learn basic computer skills. (And if a computer instructor hasn't been found as yet, a great way for a volunteer to give back and teach a much-needed service to seniors.)

Volunteer Opportunity
The Yucaipa Senior Center has a brand new computer lab with six new computers. Everything is in place for a beginner class except the most important thing! A teacher! A volunteer instructor with an average knowledge of Windows and the Internet is badly needed. If you have the ability to teach, and a willingness to volunteer, please contact Margo Martin at the Yucaipa Senior Center as soon as possible.
Wildwood Canyon Villa Hosts Veterans Presentation
November 6th, at 10:00 a.m. Wildwood Canyon Villa will host a presentation on Assisted Living Benefits available to Veterans and Surviving Spouses of Veterans. The program will assist in cutting through the red tape and teach how to fill out necessary forms and proper completion of all requirements to obtain Veteran's assistance approval, for assisted living. Refreshments will be provided. For more information call (909) 446-0405. Please sign up in the Senior Center Office prior to the presentation.

YUCAIPA - The Yucaipa Senior Center will be hosting its annual Health Fair and Flu Shot clinic on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon.Free flu shots will be administered to seniors over 60 years of age and disabled individuals courtesy of Beaver Medical Group of Yucaipa.
Free screenings will be available, including blood pressure, bone density, glucose and more . Vendors will be available to assist seniors, answer questions, and dispense literature. Another Primary Sponsor, Braswell's Family Senior Care will be on hand with free Chair Massages. Healthy refreshments will be served with lots of giveaways by vendors.
Braille Van Mobile Solutions:
Braille Van Mobile Solutions will be giving classes for the visually impaired for two more weeks in October. The classes will be held on Tuesdays from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. The classes will be on October 2l, and 28.
