More than 50 people were evacuated this morning after Los Angeles County firefighters reported a gas main leak  at a vacant business in Azusa.

The fire department got a call shortly after 9 a.m. that someone hit a gas line with a forkliftat at 245 S. Irwindale Avenue, according to dispatch reports.

Fire officials are still investigating the incident.

Two city blocks, 25 buildings and 50 to 80 people were evacuated, said a fire department dispatcher.

About seven fire units are still on scene cleaning up.

Azusa Sig Alert cancelled

AZUSA - All lanes have been reopened and the Sig Alert canceled at the westbound 210 Freeway and S. Azusa Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol Web site.

An overturned jeep jammed the No. 2, 3, and 4 lanes on the freeway at 11:40 a.m. today. The carpool lane and the No. 1 lane remained open to traffic, said Baldwin Park CHP officials.


Sig Alert issued in Asuza

Azusa - An overturned jeep jammed the westbound 210 Freeway at S. Azusa Avenue, causing a Sig Alert to be issued at 11:51 today, according to the California Highway Patrol Web site.

 

The No. 2 and 4 lanes are closed, but the carpool and No. 1 lanes are still open.

 

The Sig Alert will be in affect for an unknown duration, said Baldwin Park CHP officials.
