The department will conduct DUI saturation patrols every weekend until May 2 - during the high school prom season.
Extra officers will be on patrol to look for underage drinking and driving, which could increase as teenagers celebrate the night, according to a Fontana police news release.
The goal of the patrol is to reduce the number of alcohol-related traffic collisions and increase the number of DUI arrests, according to the news release.
The operation is funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, according to the news release.

The boy answered his front door about 2 p.m. Monday and three men forced their way inside the home in the 14700 block of Cinnamon Drive in Fontana, according to a Fontana police news release.
One of the men took out a handgun and tried to grab the boy by his neck. Wendell Hill, the boy's 36-year-old father, came downstairs and scared off the men.
The attackers ran from the home and got into a white Sports Utility Vehicle that was parked across the street that drove westbound from the area.
There were no injuries and no property was taken, according to the news release. The victims said they did not know the men.

The teen was riding his scooter home from a friends house about 7:30 p.m., according to a Fontana police news release. When he got to the intersection of Brandon Court and W Constitution Way, two men got out of a gray 2-door vehicle and approached him.
One of the men, who had a handgun, stole the iPod and scooter, police said.
They got back into the car and drove west on W Constitution.

James Cisneros, 19, of Fontana was arrested after police investigated a fight that happened shortly before the shooting in the 15600 block of Reed Drive.
About 3:40 p.m., two boys and a girl were walking home from school near Malaga and Eugenia drives when they were approached by a man who punched one of the boys in the face, according to a Fontana Police news release. The boy hit back and then walked home.
The boy told his brothers and cousins what had happened and the men went back to the area to confront the attackers.
When they got to Reed, Morris Willis, 24, of San Bernardino got out of his car and approached a group of people. He asked who hit his brother but no one answered.
As Willis approached the group, Cisneros allegedly took out a gun and pointed it at him, according to a news release. Willis punched Cisneros several times in the face before Cisneros allegedly shot him in the chest.
Everyone left the scene before police arrived, according to a news release.
Willis was taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center where he was treated.

Police officers responded to a shooting about 8 p.m. in the 9800 block of Chantry Avenue, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Coroner.
Darious Simmons, of Fontana was found with upper body trauma.
Simmons was transported to Kaiser Foundation Hospital. He was pronounced dead at 8:57 p.m., the coroner said.
Decker could not release much information on the homicide, but he did say the incident was a "walk-up shooting, as opposed to a drive-by shooting."
"We have not ruled out gang involvement in the homicide," Decker said.

About 140 vehicles were stopped and 42 Field Sobriety Tests were conducted between Dec. 13 and 31, according to a Fontana Police news release.
Officers assigned during the patrol also impounded 11 vehicles and issued 24 citations, police said. One additional arrest was made for a DUI warrant.

A man and a woman used weapons to rob a Fontana market Friday, police said.
About 10 p.m., two people wearing ski masks and gloves entered the Sunshine Produce and Market at 15770 Valley Blvd, according to a Fontana police news release.
The man was holding a crow bar and the woman was holding a revolver when they demanded money from the cashier. When he opened the register for them, the woman took as much cash as she could.
They left the store in a dark green sedan, possibly a Chevy Cavalier or Ponitac, with collision damage to the right rear panel, according to the news release.
Police arrested a Riverside man Thursday after finding 63 tractor trailer tires and eight new tractor trailer tire rims, valuing about $23,000, at his home.
Luis Sanchez, 43, was booked into West Valley Detention Center on suspicion of possessing stolen property, according to a Fontana police news release.
During a traffic stop about 9:50 a.m., a Fontana police detective found tractor trailer tires in Sanchez' vehicle. He was was unable to prove ownership of the tires, police said.
Police followed up with an investigation at Sanchez' residence in the 5300 block of Raye Street, where they found the large amount of tires, which appeared to be new.
Sanchez was unable to prove ownership for those tires as well.
The Inland Empire Scroll Saw Association will have a meeting tonight to present the Fontana Police Department with hundreds of hand-made, wooden toys. The donations are for the police department's Fontana Santas toy drive.
The presentation will be at 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 9260 Mango Ave.
Members of the group work throughout the year making jewelry boxes, crayon holders, puzzles, games, pull toys and wooden cars, according to a news release.
Last year, the group donated more than 600 wooden toys to the cause.
