At 6:30 p.m., police tried to stop a man near a Baker's at 265 N. Waterman Avenue, said Lt. Gwendolyn Waters. The man wouldn't stop and soon crashed into a telephone poll a few minutes later on Fairfax Lane and Sixth Street.
The man tried to flee from police but was arrested for a parole violation and on suspicion of fleeing police.

Coroner's officials identified a 26-yer-old San Bernardino man who died early Thursday morning when his car flew off the 210 Freeway.

The checkpoint will take place from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. in the 1500 block of S. E Street, according to a department news release.

Around 11:30 p.m. Friday, Bryant Jones was drove his Dodge Charger into the checkpoint on Orange Street near San Bernardino Avenue. He told an officer he had a suspended driver's license and then instead of going into a "screening" area as directed, he drove away, according to a Redlands news release.
Redlands police decided not to pursue Jones because he drove through a red light, into oncoming traffic lanes and was going 100 miles per hour during his escape, according to the release.
Sheriff's deputies soon called Redlands police with information that Jones crashed and overturned his car when he reached Boulder Avenue via Orange Street. Then he ran on foot to his girlfriend's house, where police found him.
Jones did have a suspended license for driving under the influence, in addition to more than $300,000 worth of arrest warrants for DUI.
He was taken to Central Detention Center in San Bernardino.

A 63-year-old Yucca Valley man was killed when he walked onto Highway 247 in front of a car and was hit, sending him 30 feet from where the crash took place.
The man, whose name has not yet been released, was hit by a Chevrolet sedan heading north on Highway 247 near Paxton Road, said Sheriff's spokeswoman Arden Wiltshire.
The driver, 27-year-old Johnson Valley resident Brandon Dasilvia, didn't see the man step onto the highway in front of him, according to a Sheriff's news release.
The crash is under investigation.

The driver, a 21-year-old man, was able to get out of the car east of Mountain View Avenue and refused medical treatment, according to a Redlands news release.
Firefighters had to extricate the four other people inside. They all received more
serious injuries and had to be taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center. A
27-year-old woman had serious head and chest injuries. A four-year-old boy received
moderate lacerations and abrasions. Two other women, 27 and 22, also suffered moderate injuries.
