Dodgers recall McDonald

| | Comments (0) |

The Dodgers announced today that righthander James McDonald has been recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque to replace Travis Schlichting on the 25-man roster. McDonald started the season with the big club -- as the fifth starter in the rotation -- but was sent down in May.

In his pregame meeting with the media, Joe Torre noted McDonald's performance in his last start as one of the reasons for his call-up. On Sunday, McDonald struck out 13 in seven innings, allowing only two hits and one walk against Triple-A Round Rock. He has a 1.89 ERA in three starts in June.

Dodgers OF Mitch Jones is getting the start at designated hitter tonight, his first start. The 31-year-old, who made his major-league debut Tuesday, has gone 1-for-2 thus far in the big leagues.
