You might have heard about Times Wire, which feeds everything published online by The New York Times in chronological order.

And NYT publishes a whole lot of stuff.

When you access Times Wire, you can choose the full feed, Business & Technology only, or create a custom feed of just the news you want.

Ever since I heard about Times Wire, I've been thinking about how, despite all the negative press, the company is seemingly doing everything right and is positioning itself for a digital future that's useful (bordering on essential) for the reader as well as potentially very lucrative for the NY Times itself. At this point in the experiment, NYT is looking not at charging premiums for content but instead leveraging its considerable brand and (hopefully) comprehensive coverage to make it a premier news source not just with all the news fit to print on paper but with so much ... more.

In fact, looking at Times Wire and all the stories skating by minute by minute, the amount of content is staggering.

And this presentation of that content is something that other news providers should (and probably will) take note of. This could be the future; the near future, which is the only thing we can really shoot for at this moment in time.

Not to be outdone ... OK, I'm just one schmoe at a newspaper that doesn't swim in the same swill as the NYT, so work with me here, people ...
