Did Bishop Amat 26, St. Paul 23 prove anything??

| | Comments (7) |

Aside from being a a relatively exciting game, with the lead chaning hands twice in the final seven minutes, was anything accomplished in Amat's win over St. Paul friday night?

The team that dominated play (St. Paul, 234 yards rushing, 318 yards total offense; BAmat 66 yards rushing, 116 yards total offense) was also the team that made the most mistakes (St. Paul 15 penalties-125 yards), including two turnovers, a lost muffed punt and a failed fourth-down conversion attempt that gave Amat possession at the Swordsmen 20.

The winning team was the more opportunistic (converted three of the mistakes into points).

Each team had positives.

BAmat's cat-quick Dominique Gaisie (12 for 62 yards) was impressive. Wonder what he might have done had he carried 18-20 times? Fullback Bryce McBride (4-33) was a load, on defense as well as offense. And wide receiver Michael Linares made the catch of the game good for 22 yards on second-and-19 when he held on to a pass over the middle despite getting belted by Oscar Cepeida.

St. Paul's Nicolas Grigsby was impressive with 179 yards on 27 carries, but he'll get even better as will opposing defenses. The Swordsmen's defense pressured quarterback Xavier Carrillo and pretty much shut down the Lancers' ground game, although one has to wonder how much of a challenge it really presented with the limited carries by Gaisie and McBride.

One knowledgeable commenter accurately noted St. Paul "shoulda, coulda, woulda" won if not for the mistakes and turnovers.

Another called it a "very poorly played game (mistakes)," added "neither team looked very good," and finished with "it was probably the worst game played in this rivalry."

A bit harsh? Perhaps.

Unfair? Probably not.

Agree? Disagree?

What about the leather Knockoff Handbags that make them so fascinating? They come in a variety of sizes, colors and styles. Perhaps the material they are made of soft butter. There is also a fitness room with a good leather paired. Many famous fashion-conscious women wear that makes them even more popular. A beautiful bag that can be a number of someone a bit of extra security as they go about their days completed.

Yes, lot of penalties. I thought St Paul could've won this game easily. If it wasn't for bonehead penalties and costly turnovers BA wouldn't have had such good field position. BA's offense was held to very minimal yardage. Hopefully St Paul learns from those mistakes and makes a run.

ive been to many st.paul-amat games and i thought this was a very poorly played game. both teams committed numerous mistakes.amat should have won the game easily but their lack of discipline almost cost them the game. st. paul is a one man team with no passing game. both teams will struggle this year, the only break for st. paul is that they play in a weak league so they will contend for a playoff berth. by the way, do you know if they are planning to continue the series next year?
