When quoting Louis Vuitton, I can not tickle. Its unique design and bold and bright do not hesitate to tell me not only surprised, but almost all women and girls hunt fashion. More specifically, LV leads people in the Haute Couture. This is not just a logo or trademark, is a legend! You asked why Jordan was not at Schurr past 15 years, I am not sure, the story I heard is the previous coach, I think was Mayroll did not see eye to eye with Jordan, and would not bring him on staff, and it was the push of current coaches to Dick to bring him on staff. Also if I am not mistaken Coach dick really did not hire to many asst. coaches and inherited them from the previous head coach. I think Dick is a good coach, but from other stories I have heard, he does not deserve coach of the year, status, yes maybe be considered, but chosen.

I don't anything about the coach at Cantwell but he should get some mention for the winning season they had there this year. Too bad they lost all their momentum at the end of the year.
Got to give the guy credit....he wants to upgrade that program and I think he is going in the right direction. For example I know he has scheduled several upper division teams including one local D3 team. They may get roughed up in some games but to considered one the big boys on the block, that is what he's got to do.
Hey CCards who cares about your trash talking. I think Joseph Gonzalez started out o.k. by sticking up for his brother but enough smack already. But come on man have some class you have a personal issue take it up with him. We don't want to hear about him. Besides no one is talking about Cantwells coach for coach of the year.
Schurr Fan, I'm thinking you should stop while you can. You are talking about things that make you sound very stupid. Don't be sad that your parents didn't send you to St. Paul. If you have a champion congratulations to you. Move on with some dignity and quit throwing daggers at St. Paul. The facts are the facts in a heartbeat I'm sure St. Paul would love to play your school. Your writing checks that you definetly can't cash so move on. May Schurr win another title and get all the Montebello kids to go to that school. Good Luck to all area schools.

"Yes it is true that every 8th grader has the choice to attend any private school of their choice, but they also have a choice to go to any school as a freshman as long as the school enrollment can accommodate them. So if a student lives in Whittier and wants to go to Schurr or say Montebello high school, they can if they enroll at the beginning of their freshman year and the school has room for them. But what is illegal is having contact with any 8th graders to help them make that choice.
Schurr fan...re-read your post above. You are telling us that it is OK for a kid in the Whittier school district to go to school in Montebello, outside his residency district, bypassing the PR and SF school districts in the process, violating residency rules as well. And how does this kid make this decision to something against the rules? Is it a parent, a coach? What do you call that? Oh yeah...recruiting.
And as a Schurr fan how did you become such an expert on what St. Paul does? Oh yeah...you heard it from a friend of a friend of friend. Yep, that makes it true.
I'm impressed that you consider playing Leuzinger tough a highlight. And they had a one D1 recruit. You forgot about Downey (who Schurr lost to), with that Tubbs kid. He's D1. Oh yeah, I forgot, St. Paul beat them. Oh yeah, they also beat St. Francis with 2 D1 recruits. I think every team SP played excpet for the Ranch had at least 1 D1 recruit and most had multiple. Big deal, right?
Considering SP only started 7 or 8 seniors this year and they have a legitimate D1 recruit in the Morales kid (UNLV, SDSU, Nevada to name a few), I think that is a pretty good percentage.
Schurr fan, I don't know what your beef is but you really need to get over yourself as well.
Why does Schurr get all the kids in Montebello to come to Schurr instead of Montebello? Because your coach has instilled a winning environment where kids want to be. The kids there probably love it there and tell there friends, "Come play for Coach Dick". We've got a winning program and it is a great school". Is that recruiting?

AND like most people in the "real world" have made mistakes and MOVED THE "F" ON! You should try it!!!
Pete Gonzalez is the brains behind SPHS coaching operation, no other way to see it! If anyone doesn't like it.. LOOK AWAY! Good luck to all candidates!
This is funny. Schurr great job on your title, well deserve to Coach Dick. No class for your writer that represents your school. Schurr fan learn some facts before you write your big blogs. Thats alot of wasted time. You need to open your own blog so you can rattle on and on. Once again your division 7 or 10? who knows its down there? You named one person who is going to UCLA. We need a whole page to list the future college athletes we faced this year. So once again do us all a favor and stop responding with nonsense. Go St. Paul.

The bottom line your such a hater I have to figure your just jealous. You go to Schurr because you live in Montebello no other reason. Anyone can go to St. Paul whether they live in S.F.S. or Temecula. So stop worrying about all the kids boundries and worry about yours, you have crossed it enough so it's time for you to stop. I would definetly change your name to Schurr idiot. Once again this site is for Coach of the year I might think about voting for Coach Dick but forget it this kid is to annoying to vote for anything at your school. Coach Gonzalez is my vote.
It's a shame that all you people aren't doing any good but bringing down the schools you represent. This site was for Coach of the year. Not for bashing eachother and using this for your own personal website.

Schurr Fan said:
To all the St.Paul bloggers, really your school and fans really need to get over their selves. You guys aren't that good, we saw your talent. And your okay, that's all, and with the lack of coaching staff at St.Paul it just makes you worse. I don't think you St.Paul fans really know the truth about the recruiting your school does which I believe is very sad for you and how you defend illegal acts. Yes it is true that every 8th grader has the choice to attend any private school of their choice, but they also have a choice to go to any school as a freshman as long as the school enrollment can accommodate them. So if a student lives in Whittier and wants to go to Schurr or say Montebello high school, they can if they enroll at the beginning of their freshman year and the school has room for them. But what is illegal is having contact with any 8th graders to help them make that choice. It is even illegal to have a junior high school teacher tell their students to go their local feeder school. But the promises that St.Paul makes are ridiculous, paying for students tuition, offering them work study if they are an athlete. Why is it that many athletes from del rio league end up going to St.Paul, because of all these promises. And after St.Paul tries to use them and get what they want - these students just end up back at their first school. And this is the truth that all you fans don't ever hear about. I know a lot of ex-St.Paul players that were great athletes at St.Paul that will attest to this. And their academics aren't even good at all, non-credentialed teachers, and more than have of their students don't even attend college. So before you guys start defending a school that you must not know much about - ask some St.Paul alumni that's not scared to speak the truth. And to people saying that Dwight Tardy is a proud swordsman, yeah but has he been there since his freshman year - I think not. And to JMoney if we played a team tough like Leuzinger High School who has a RB committed to UCLA and lineman twice the size of the St.Paul lineman, I think we would not get eaten up by anyone, and our free safety Alex Valdez would murder you FB (good try though), oh yeah and what scholarship athletes does St.Paul have this year, the only one they had was at Cal Hi. And if our high school talent pool is at the pop warner level, what does that make santa fe, la habra, and all the other teams we beat. Your a joke, talking about pop warner that's where you'll see all the St.Paul coaches looking for 8th graders at the Santa Fe Saints, and Whittier Redskins. Now that's integrity.

Schurr Fan,
That is the gripe everyone always has SP recruits and this and that. As 8th graders you are given the opportunity to choose whatever private school you want to attend. All the crying about recruiting you are trying to tell me that all the kids at public schools just happen to show up there??? If you think that then you are way to young to understand the nature of the beast called highschool football. At some point some contact is made between either parents or assistant coaches. With the kids is it SPs fault that parents want their kids in safer enviroment with the requirements being that of a higher learning prep school??? I sure dont and I teach at a Del Rio League school!!! As for Dwight he was there since his freshman year and Nick Grigsby everyone knows his story so that was a big blunder. Once again I give credit to Schurr but by you putting 9 in the box against SP our 5 lineman will eat your front 8 alive....GUARANTEED! We'll let our FB snack on your safety. Ask DOwney, St Francis and Mira Costa they all failed at 9 in the box!!! You dont get the game of football. Our soph qb threw how many passes in passing league???? ZERO! Once he became the starter the team looked revamped with many more outlets. Anyway if your gripe is against SP, lets see how many football players get scholarships out of Schurr....Who was the last scholarship player from Shurr in the last 10 years??? Jermaine Jackson excluded he was 11 years ago....Believe it or not SP has only around 250 boys on campus and they sure do compete. You really cannot compare parochial football to the Almont League or D7 football. All in all you guys believe that if you are good enough colleges will find you right!! Let me tell you, that speaks volumes of your talent pool its just highschool POP WARNER games. Zero D1 schollies in the last ten years. Anyway congrats to Schurr and of course the Jordan fam and lil Jesse Serrato!!!
Schurr fan, are you serious? I think you are and that's what is so sad. You can't compare St. Paul & Schurr. But in your twisted head you'll find a way. Since you seem to know so much on the coaches behalf, beg them to schedule a game with St. Paul. I don't think it will ever happen. Get over your passing league drama. Just stop while you can. Once again congrats to the Spartans I hope your other players have more class than you. Do all St. Paul fans a HUGE favor and leave Nick Grisby's name out of our blogs. Thanks.

OMG Schurr fan...You need to just worry about your school work because your not very bright. You don't know what your talking about St. Paul is a private school so therefore any student from any area has the luxury of going wherever they please. You shouldn't be using names you don't know. Dwight Tardy is a PROUD SWORDSMEN so mann....shut up! Who cares what Nick Grisby thinks or says, he doesn't have SWORDSMEN blood. So pick up the phone and crank call some people to get yourself fired up. What a joke. I'm sure Schurr people are not very proud of you.
Schurr fan, seriously you need to grow up. Your talking about things that are out of your league. You must be a student because any adult will never put their foot in their mouth as many times as you have. You should settle down because your making youself sound really stupid. I'm sure Coach Jordan and the Schurr coaching staff would not appreciate the crap you have been talking.

I for one refuse to get caught up in a pissing contest on who can beat who. We aren't comparing "apples to apples" as the saying goes. And until the 2 teams play this will never be resolved.
Then to resort to name calling, innuendos, put downs, etc. It is undignified coming first from Swordsmen and then from recently crowned CIF champions. Schurr fans, you guys are winners, you should act like winners, not sore losers.
This blog is about who you think should be Coach of the Year and why you think they should be. Is it really necessary to throw mud at the other coaches or even peoples opinions just because it differs from your own??
Swordsmen fans...take a step back before you make comments. Coach Gonzales taught the kids to play with dignity, heart and respect. Coach G himself has been through a lot this year and he has handled with a true sense of professionalism and dignity. That is one of the reasons I think he should be coach of the year...you should all follow that philosophy too.
Say what you may about my comments...but that is how I feel no matter how corny or old school that is.

St.Paul and JMoney,
I don't know why you guys think that St.Paul is the greatest team ever - when they never win. Yeah they are playing in a tough division that they don't even belong in. And both of you guys seemed to talk about my entire blog, but why did you leave out the recruiting part. First of all St.Paul tries to recruit all the kids from going to the entire del rio league and then they go get all their athletes from other schools, for example Dwight Tardy - Nick Grisby. You guys really forgot to mention that, huh. If any team recruits there butt off they should win, oh wait Santa Fe didn't. But anyways us beating you in passing league does matter, because St.Paul has a horrible passing game and that would factor in if we played them. We would put 9 players in the box and make them throw the ball which they can't and stuff them. Even your own St.Paul fans say that your coach chokes calling plays, I guarantee our coaching staff wouldn't and that's where we would win the game against St.Paul. And oh yeah Rudy Jordan has grown up in Montebello his whole life, attending elementary, junior high, and now high school there. And yes because he lives in Whittier St.Paul has tried to recruit him many times. They seem real confident with winning with the players they have, I guess there just scared. But hey everyone knows St.Paul is a bunch of cheaters. Just ask Cal Hi.

This blog is not about which team is better or who can beat who. Fact is Schurr won CIF title BUT they are not in the division that St. Paul is. I don't think the children who writing on this relize that St. Paul vs. Schurr would not be pretty. I'm talking about for Schurr, St. Paul would definetly beat them no question. Once again Congrats to all area teams this is just for talking not for putting eachother down. Back to the main topic I really beleive Coach Gonzalez should get coach of the year for all the issues he overcame as a Coach and stepping into Coach A's shoes was a challenge alone. He ended up with a great year for the Swordsmen.
St. Paul is in division 3 because thats where they deserve to be just like Schurr is in division 7 because thats where they deserve to be. Our schedule is tough you can't deny it but you guys will find a way but its comical how ridiculous you guys sound. Give credit where credit is deserve all the St. Paul people have congratulated Schurr on their win and you guys just dont stop. Go St. Paul.

Coach Jordan is probably the mastermind behind the championship, as he (and his family, including his son-in-law Jesse Serrato) live, breathe, and eat football. And if you know so much about him and his son, then you should know that Coach Jordan works in the Montebello school district and he probably has a district permit that is offered for families. For a parochial school, St. Paul has a lot of people who do not "do unto others" and seem to have hate in their hearts!?!

You can't give coach of the year to a 7-6 record.

st paul has a great tradition shurr positive parent , and they make it to the playoffs every year , and thats alot more competion than div 7 , comon do you really think you would of ever won a title in there div. the past 10 to 15 . in the past years they've had to go through LB poly , Sherman Oaks Notre dame , Loyola , Bishap Amamt , Banning , St. bonaventure . ST. paul is playing teams that are nationally ranked , And your playing teams that are ranked only in there div . so dont try and compare sheduals , cuz its just not gonna go in your favor . now you guys won a title and no one could tske that away from you , but your no where near the superior of them . You beat them in a passing league ,thats a different story on the field and with the pads on . Oh and they had around 15 pics. this year under the lights
st. paul
3 cif titles
1 state championsihp
1 national championship
fact is no one in this wants to play them becuz theyved had the offer and no one says yes so st. paul has got to go all the way out to long beach poly , or santa margarita to get a game

Schurr Fan,
If you think Schurr can beat SP you must get the brown dip creaping from inside your head out your ears. I give Schurr tons of credit they played a good game vs SF and rightfully so deserve to be D7 champs. For you to compare SP to Schurr in regards to a passing league game is the complete explanation i need to understand you have no business making the statements you are. The game is won in the trenches and SP will beat Schurr and beat them badly at that. Elvin Dick is not a good coach the mastermind behind the championship lets be real here is Joe Jordan. He had SF guessing all night. Much love to Joe and his boy Rudy. Question how does Rudy go to Schurr when he lives down the street from me and I live in Whittier, hmmmm??? Anyhow now on to Camarillo the kid has done it year in and year out. He ran all over Whittier same division as Schurr I think he wouldve been pretty succesful at any level. Schurr learn to win with class act like youve been there before. Oh I forget its been 26 years thats right. As for SP they play a way tougher schedule than anyone in the area with so-so talent and hold there own week in and week out. The only common opponent SP and Schurr had was Downey and Sp won 16-0 Schurr lost 25-30 you lost to Burroughs which lost to St Francis which lost to SP. I can go on and on. My thing is SP is on a whole other level whether you like it or not they play bigger teams with average players and compete. Schurr did well, congrats. Sp did well and they lost in the semis, good job next year is their year with 18 returning starters. How many players does Schurr return??? Schurr take this to the bank your on top now their is only one way to go.....DOWN!!!!
Come on parents and children this is about coach of the year. Not player of the year so quit acting like kids and vote for the coach of the year. I do agree that there are many haters on the blog. Go St. Paul. Thank you to Coach Gonzalez for representing St. Paul.
scj said:
Personally, I didn't think Schurr would even get through the 1st round so congratulations are in order for winning CIF.
I don't know Coach Dick and really don't know anything about him. However, he did take a team faced with great odds and won a championship. I've have to assume he has great character and is a fine leader of men. I assume he believes in winning with dignity. Although that is one lesson some of you Schurr fans have forgotten.
Just because you've won a title after 26 years dosen't make you the biggest, baddest team on the block. Don't mar your victory with taunts of how everyone else sucks and how great you are.
That being said, we could spend days debating who could beat who. I could say St. Paul plays in a stronger division, plays tougher opponents etc., how we beat Downey 16-0 (the one common opponent each team had). Schurr fans can counter with charges of recruiting, scoreboard, a title, etc.
But until both teams play each other. That is all it will be...words.
And this applies to all bloggers....have some respect for the kids who actually played this year and gave us football we ALL enjoyed and savor the season for what it was. Don't resort to name calling, accusations, etc.
Everyone should go back and read Louie Munoz's post. Took me awhile to figure out what he was saying but it seems like that young man has got the right attitude and approach.
Most of us here are parents and we should be setting the good examples!
I think that everyone needs to calm down. Roger Murray asked for a SHORT summary not a short book. The Schurr vs. St. Paul thing is really insane. Congrats to Schurr on the championship but Schurr Fan you need to get it together. You talk about St. Paul and their small camps o.k. bottom line Schurr wouldn't want to play St. Paul. So get your facts straight before you get all crazy.

Positive Parent,
I think you need to get your head checked. High school football isn't about little camps and transfers and all the players St.Paul recruits. It's about an honest coaching staff winning with the talent that has been at their school all four years. And that is exactly what we did this year. And you saying St.Paul will kill Schurr, that's a joke. We saw the talent St.Paul has in passing league when we killed them, I'm not saying we would kill St.Paul in a game - but we would beat them convincly. And that's with no recruiting, imagine if we recruited like you guys at St.Paul, Cal Hi, Santa Fe. With our coaching staff, no one would even compete with us. And that's the truth. And I can't even remember the last time St.Paul won a CIF title, well not in the last 10-15 years, they just keep choking in the playoffs. So who are you to talk about us winning another one in 26 more years. Atleast we won one recently. And coach of the year is definitely Coach Dick from Schurr, lets not compare what could've and should've happened like all you St.Paul fans - what really happened is that Schurr High School won the CIF title when no one thought they would and St.Paul LOST, they didn't win. If we didn't win, then yeah maybe coach Gonzales would've got it. But give credit when credit is due. Championship or losing in the playoffs. For someone to say they would rather give to a coach who leads there team into the playoffs through a tough schedule is ignorant. Coaches do that in high school football all the time, it's job. But coaches don't win CIF titles all the time. Think about it.
And to everyone trying to say that Estaban Camarillo is worthy of POY, yeah right. Get any one of our running backs from our Schurr team (Steven Cano or Rudy Jordan) and they would have 3500 yards and 40 touchdowns playing against junior high teams and running the ball every singel play. Of course he's gonna have a lot of yards, anyone would in that league (it's a joke) he's an average back that plays agianst horrible teams - bottom line. And I guarantee he wouldn't start at our school, both of our backs are way better than him. Orduno POY hands downs.
Herman Duran said:
The fact is St. Paul did play a tough schedule. But so did Schurr. Burroughs was ranked No. 1 going into the playoffs. Downey is a top notch school as is Leuzinger. The bottom line is this.......scoreboard the Schurr Spartans are the CIF champs and St. Paul is not. Games are won on the field not on what could, should have happen.

Ive seen Orduno and all these other players and but no one seperated themselves more from the rest of the palyers than Camarillo. He would start for any school in The Area & SOutheast division. I think orduno is good but i think Morales is better,

I don't usually feel anything to write in these blog things, but I really need to says a couple of things about the Schurr High School Football team. First off, great job this year on a great season. And when it comes to Coach of the Year, it is without a doubt Coach Elvin Dick, he's done a tremendous job over there at Schurr High School. And for Player of the Year, no one deserves it more than Schurr QB Joseph Orduno. From seeing him play last year to this year is like night and day. One thing I wanted to say about the Schurr coaching staff and Joseph Orduno is that no one really knows but the two coaches that have mentored Orduno this year are outstanding. First they have Coach Joe Jordan who eveyone know is not only a playing but now a coaching great. I've had a chance to speak to him, and what a great guy. And another Coach that they have over there now is Jesse Serrato, he was all everything QB at both Pioneer High School and Whittier College. And probably one of the best athletes I have ever coached against. What Head Coach wouldn't want those type of coaches leading there offense. That's how you win CIF titles, coaches that can play and relay their experiences to the kids, and it really looks like they have done that for Joseph Orduno. And I applaud them for that, great job coaches, and great job by Coach Dick for bringing them in. My hats off to the Schurr High School football team. Great Season - and Good Luck next year. You guys deserved it.

O.k. this is getting crazy to St. Paul fan (ha,ha) first of all you say all these things that are ridiculous this I know because I was at the team banquet on Sunday night and I saw the respect of the kids to their whole coaching staff. I was there and saw these kids hug Coach Gonzalez and I heard and saw the respect and team spirit that truly amazed me. I don't know what your problem is I beleive that this is a personal issue that no one wants to hear about why don't you call the coaches yourself and speak your mind. As far as punking people around thats insane that you would even write that. Big words and name calling do not amount anything. Once again Coach Gonzalez for coach of the year. I also agree with everyone else change your screen name.

My vote: Coach Gonzalez - SPHS
My vote lies with GONZALEZ a true leader, a man with the tact and class not to retaliate to the continual garbage thrown at him. I'm honored that my son experienced the leadership and vision of a true administrator. Not only does Gonzalez preach on the field but in the class room as well.
Good luck coach, you deserve the award but knowing the kind of person that you are, a trophy or pat on the back will not matter to a man like your self, you know deep down inside that you're a WINNER! God Bless.

SP FAN - C'mon man, give it a rest with the hating of Coach Gonzalez. How do you continually knock someone who's done nothing but positive things for the school, the program and continues to honor Coach A. I have heard him paraphrase Coach A with nothing but respect many times so, why does this always have to be about Gonzalez vs. Ancich? SP proved to be a real team who played with their hearts week after week especially when their star running back abandoned them. A true leader "leads" by example and SP making it to the Semi finals, well, I believe that speaks for itself! Coach Gonzalez is a good man, whether he studders or not? Scared, I seriously doubt that! I have heard him speak many times and never once have I heard him studder.. perhaps your the one with the "freedom of speech" disorder AND an obvious vision problem as well, Because from what I saw this football season, SPHS prevailed! Knocking coach Gonzalez won't hurt his feelings, he has been called everything in the book possible by SPHS own following. He is a real man with real character and if I could vote a million times for him, I would.
CONGRATULATIONS COACH GONZALEZ ON A MOST EXCITING SEASON ESPECIALLY FACING THE MONSTERS THAT WE DID! SOME PEOPLE ARE THANKFUL FOR YOUR TIME AND DEDICATION, CONTINUE TO IGNORE THOSE THAT AREN'T!

And yeah i love the players , Im a true St. Paul fan , and loyal to the players , unlike some people who work there, who lied to them , we all know that he was'nt the head coach , It was Coach Jiminez That punked him around practice , But Pete Gonzales thought them none of what you think , That was the players who had the balls and heart to play , Pete gonzales aint on the field , And the only way they got beat by west torrance cuz he got out coached offensivly , It was'nt ability , Just horrible play calling , by my love goes out to those Players not the cheaters, and if they read this they would know what im talking about , Love you guy ( players ) take care , and great leadership by all the seniors . I have spoken to a few parents at Schurr high, and I would not vote Coach Dick for Coach of the Year, but then again the last time I checked I was not granted an official vote. It is true, he took his team to the Championship and won, but did you know this senior class has won the league championship at each of the levels; they won as freshman, sophomores on JV and varsity the last two years as juniors and seniors. I think this was a team that understood what it took to become a championship team, and have been determined to play with all there heart and desire to come out on top, leaving everything on the field. Each and every year the coaches just needed to refine their skills to play at each level. I was also disturbed about the treatment of a lower division coach who was on the varsity staff last year, which did not seem like actions of a coach of the year.
What is the criterion anyways for a coach of the year or even player of the year? A player, who has top stats (Esteban Camarillo), has the game of his life in the championship game (Joseph Orduno), or a player who lives and breathes football who plays both ways with consistency (Steven Cano). My vote Orduno. As for the coach, one that wins the championship (Dick), one who steps in and lead a young program with some success in a difficult schedule (Gonzalez), or one who has brought improvement to his program from the previous year (Scott). My vote Scott or Gonzalez.

I really don’t see how it can’t be anymore clear than it is. Coach Dick is coach of the year and Joseph Orduno is player of the year.
The loss Friday night was hard to absorb but now that I have here it goes:
CONGRATULATIONS SCHURR!! Your coaching staff didn’t one heck of a job and while the entire team played great Orduno had the game of his life. And what can I say about your amazing fans that packed the stadium in support of their team. Not a lot of people gave you a chance including me but you did it anyway and deserve to be recognized for your accomplishment.
Santa Fe – thank you for a wonderful season. It was a great ride. I hate that you seniors had to have it end this way but you have every reason along with everyone else to hold your heads high with chieftain pride! You underclassmen got a taste of what it takes to make it to the championship game and I can’t wait till next season to see you all take the field again in your pursuit of the ring! Don’t you let anyone try and belittle your accomplishment this season! I know runner up isn’t exactly what you wanted but it’s better than semifinalist. And remember all those who said you’ll never be better than that. Let’s just not wait another 50 years to get back there.

Coach Gonzalez for coach of the year is a joke. I agree he did a good job with his young team, but Coach Dick did an unbelievable job with the Spartans. No one gave them a chance to beat Westminster, La Habra, or Santa Fe. He had his boys believing in each other and other than the Alhambra game they were prepared and brought their hard hat to work everyday.
I am a football fan only no kids and I'm not an alumni. I agree with the other votes for Coach Gonzalez. I also agree with the other bloggers that the comment from SP fan is ridiculous. I do coach kids and would like to say that the job was done great. Coach Gonzalez you'll never make everybody happy so keep doing the same job. St. Paul has a great year coming up. Their schedule alone is to be accountable for a job well done.
I would like to give credit to all area coaches. Its evident that most teams were represented well. Of course my vote is for Coach Gonzalez. 1. Our schedule 2. Our size 3. Our underclassmen etc....I can go on and on bottom line our Swordsmen were coached great. Were all proud of our team on the field. I'm a true SP fan and also proud. Great job to all surrounding coaches.

I CANT BELIEVE THAT SOMEONE WOULD SAY THAT COACH GONZALEZ IS A SISSY. WHY DONT YOU HAVE THE GUTS TO REVEAL YOURSELF? DID YOU WATCH ANY OF THE GAMES THIS YEAR? IF YOU DID THAN YOU WOULD NOT MAKE SUCH SILLY COMMENTS. THERE ARE A BUNCH OF REASONS WHY I CAN JUSTIFY YOUR STUPID COMMENT AS FALSE. BUT IM ONLY GOING TO GIVE YOU A COUPLE. THE FIRST , I'VE KNOWN COACH GONZALEZ MY WHOLE LIFE AND I MUST AS A MAN YOU WONT FIND A BETTER ROUNDED PERSON. THE GUY FOR ONE IS EDUCATED,SMART ,SELF SUFFICIENT, AND WILL NOT BACK DOWN TO ANYTHING THAT'S IN FRONT OF HIM.SO YOU SISSY COMMENT GOES UNJUSTIFIED! THE SECOND, DID YOU SEE ST.PAUL'S TALENT? I DONT THINK YOU DID. I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT THOSE BOYS WERE VERY PREPARED DAY IN AND DAY OUT. THE GAME PLANS, THE PRACTICES SESSIONS THE FILMS. IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT FOOTBALL, YOU WILL KNOW ABOUT 90% OF THE TIME THE GAME IS WON ON THE PRACTICE FIELD.NOT ON FRIDAY NIGHT. THE OTHER 10% IS TALENT.AND THERES NO WAY OF GUARDING AGAINST THAT. SO WHY DONT YOU BE A MAN AND REVEAL YOURSELF.BECAUSE IM GOING TO REVEAL MYSELF AS COACH GONZALEZ' YOUNGER BROTHER JOSEPH.GROW UP BACKSEAT DRIVER. SUPPORT THE SCHOOL AND GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE!SEMI-FINALS CLOWN.

What a great game that was Friday night. There was an air of electricity I haven't felt in a long time at a high school game. Props to Schurr for playing a great game. Orduno did a heck of a job at quarterback. His ability to break tackles and make plays was the key. The defense also kept Santa Fe from making big plays. Two big keys: Schurr responding after Santa Fe scored the first time it had the ball in the second half and scoring again after Santa Fe scored with less than seven minues to go in the game. I thought Santa Fe should have tried an onside kick then because their defense hadn't been able to stop the Spartans all night. The stadium was nice (except for the parking) and I thought this area did a great job of filling it.
SP FAN...what games were you watching? or should I say weren't watching. You definetly need to change your name you can't be a SP fan to talk crap like that. You obviously didn't see what everyone else saw. I have never heard Coach Gonzalez studder and he obviously is not a sissy to book the games he does. So take your negative input and burn it. Coach Gonzalez did a great job. Go Swordsmen.

My second choice would be Esteban Camarillo of WC- but i feel that Joseph Orduno shows all the qualities of the player of the year and i hope you will honor him.
St. Paul's head coach Pete Gonzalez. He took this job with an uphill battle. I beleive everybody thought we would end up 3-7 if we were lucky. We love the job he did for our boys, were proud of the job he did on the field. Coach Gonzalez taught these kids more than I would of ever expected. I am a Proud St. Paul supporter and dad. My vote for POY would be Joseph Orduno. Look at his growth this year. He makes all the right reads, can throw, run, and make big plays. He is also able to make things happen from broken plays. He is also a team leader, and the team would not be the same without him. As far as COY does it have to be a head coach? What about an O or D Coordinator? For example, Coach Sanchez the D-Coordinator who shut down every opponent in the CIF Playoffs for Schurr. Or, maybe Coach Jordan, the mastermind behind the Schurr Offense, and developed the above POY.

Oh man this one might be harder than the POY for me. I mean you could easily go with the Dick or Mahlsteade(spelling?)just for the fact that their teams made it to the finals. Either way you have a sound argument.
But disregarding the obvious, I think that in my opinion one of the best coaching jobs this year came from Walter Scott at Whittier. Nobody expected much from Whittier other than current/past Cardinals, but instead of going down quietly they responded with a CIF berth and big victories over Verbum Dei (who's now in the Finals) and El Rancho&La Serna (two teams they hadn't beaten in years). Coach Scott has slowly but surely turned Whittier into a competitive program once again.
In addition, he was recently selected as Del Rio League Coach of the Year by his peers, over Mahlsteade who's in the Finals and Ancich who's team should've been league champs. That alone should be reason enough for him to receive Area Coach of the Year.

I agree with Elvin Dick being coach of the year. Dick should get it no matter the result of the CIF title game. He took a team that not a lot of people thought would be that good to a league title and a berth in the CIF title game. Sure Mahlstede got over the curse, but he's always had the athletes and the talent there. Elvin Dick has taken a team to the same level as Mahlstede and he did it with less talent, Mahlstede has division 1 talent on his team and Shurr really doesn't the D1 talent, they have great heart and pride which is a reflection of the coach and his staff. That's why he should be coach of the year.

Not surprisingly, this framework Valentino Glam embellished Ladies Fashion Handbags . They have never disappointed us in any room with a feminine design and sophisticated. In fact, the coupling Valentino does not have many innovative features. He has a regular rosette detailing more of his collection.
You should really think about working on developing this blog into a major authority in this market. You certainly have a grasp handle of the matters everyone is looking for on this blog anyways and you could surely even earn a dollar or two off of some promotion. I would explore following recent topics and raising the amount of write ups you put up and I guarantee you’d begin seeing some amazing traffic in the near future. Just a thought, good luck in whatever you do!
Every day we see opportunities to help us earn more money. The systems are more complex and promises are incredible. But the best way, was discovered some years ago to win. Only changed over the years, but the concept remains the same. You buy something more than they can sell, and the difference of the Girls Handbags . It is actually quite simple if you think about it.
I really enjoy the information on this blog. I came across it while searching on Yahoo
I require help with criticism. The issue I have with it, I consider it to seriously and it ends up obtaining to me and lowering my self-esteem large time. I need help finding methods to obtain more than what people say that ends up hurting my feelings. Any suggestions? Thanks.
The Real Reward Is Coaching Great Players And Watching Them Succeed...that is what im thinking the only thing this award i have 1st team all area is start problems and make people argue and debate and start problems like why didnt i get it...but another point..if the players could pick im pretty sure it would be thier own coaches..RIGHT?
To Kev
You asked why Jordan was not at Schurr past 15 years, I am not sure, the story I heard is the previous coach, I think was Mayroll did not see eye to eye with Jordan, and would not bring him on staff, and it was the push of current coaches to Dick to bring him on staff. Also if I am not mistaken Coach dick really did not hire to many asst. coaches and inherited them from the previous head coach. I think Dick is a good coach, but from other stories I have heard, he does not deserve coach of the year, status, yes maybe be considered, but chosen.
"jmoney..
ur probably some nerds bro who plays or played for sp..you know nothing about schurr and you talk like ur big and bad i have seen st.paul and there okay i guess!!!and fir schurr they played them week 2 when they were still coming together..i know st.paul knows about it right (0-4)was how there season started so get the facts streight..jmoney[get a new name fairy]"
Someone want to provide us with a translation of his comments? Looks like somebody has been skipping classes at Schurr.....

CCARDS - Man you talk tough! Why haven't you revealed yourself yet? Talking all this junk to Joey about Delahoya, loans and his football ability! Who are you, his shadow? Sounds like you're a bit bitter about chalking the field back in the day! Joey Gonzalez was great in his time and there's nothing more to say about that!
Go St. Paul.
Although each time I write I swear it will be my last time. I guesse when the immature Schurr fan stops this website will be alot better. Little kid you need to stay off the computer without your parents permission and go to sleep. You talk about things you obviously don't know about.
FUNNY, HOW SOME PEOPLE TALK CRAP. HOW COME YOU WONT SAY WHO YOU ARE? I WILL TELL YOU WHY. BECAUSE YOUR AFRAID YOU WILL BE EXPOSED AS A NOBOBY OR EVEN WORSE A NON-ATHLETE. SOMEONE WHO HAS NO CREDIBLITY WHEN IT COMES TO SPORTS.A CAREER BENCHWARMER!! FESS UP BE A MAN!
Whoa I thought this was supposed to be about coach of the year? Congrats to both St Paul and Schurr, both teams did great this year. For all you people that are talking crap... Stop! You're embarrassing the schools you're trying to represent.
Im not accusing anyone of anything, but I hate to see Avina, the st paul freshmen coach, also coaching for the PR Dons, it seems like the ranch isnt getting any PR Dons to play for ER at all lately. There is just to much kids from Pico playing for St Paul, and I hate to see QB AJ Gonzales going to St Paul next year.
JOEY, Joey, joey
It's a good thing your older brother handles himself with a lot more class than you do. He is a fine example for the Gonzalez name. You on the otherhand are not a has been you are a never was. Why don't you go hold De la Hoya's spit can or write up another illegal loan.
i coached with dick when he was coaching at whitter college and for those people that are saying he is not a good coach....YOU ARE CRAZY.....he is a good coach.....if jordan is calling plays then great that is why head coaches hire people.....TO COACH....why wasnt jordan at schurr the last 15 years? kudos to coach dick for hiring him and letting him coach....most teams are only as good as their coaching STAFF....i'm sure st. paul also has a great staff.....good luck to all area teams next year.....lets stop the trash talking to.
I see many are seeing that Jordan is the true mastermind to the schurr offense, and created a fine QB Orduno. Coach of the Year Jordan, Great job to Dick for allowing Jordan to go back to Schurr.
ALRIGHT CHECK IT OUT!!!COACH DICK HAS HAD TWO GREAT YEARS COACHING AS A HEAD COACH!!YA SAINT PAULS HEAD COACH HAD A GOOD YEAR BUT THEY HAD NO OFFENSE!! YA JORDAN IS BEHIND THE SCENES AND CALLS PLAYS AND SO DOES DICK!! FUNNY SAINT PAUL WOULD MURDER SCHURR YOUR FUNNY!MAN IF I HAD ANOTHER YEAR I WOULD WANT TO PLAY TO WHOOP YOUR ASS ON THE FIELD!! WE HAD OFFENSE AND DEFENSE YOU ONLY HAD ONE!!MAN GO GET READY FOR NEXT YEAR GO LIFT WEIGHTS OR SOMETHING OR GO CHECK OUT THE WHITTIER REDSKINS AND START RECRUITING!! MAYBE YOULL WIN NEXT YEAR...OR IT WILL BE A CINDERILLA FAIRY TAIL AGAIN??
Schurr Fan,
That is the gripe everyone always has SP recruits and this and that.
CAN WE PLEASE HAVE SOME REAL FOOTBALL MINDS RESPOND? ALL THESE SILLY COMMENTS FROM PEOPLE WHO DONT REVEAL THEMSELVES CARRY NO WEIGHT.
THE SCHURR HIGH THING IS A BIG DEAL FOR ME AS WELL. GROWING UP IN MONTEBELLO MY FAMILY HAS STRONG TIES TO THE SCHOOL AS OUR SISTERS WENT THERE. SO CONGRATULATIONS TO THEM FOR WINNING THE TITLE. I PERSONALLY KNOW ALOT OF THERE ALUMNI. I AM HAPPY FOR THERE SUCCESS. AS WHOS BETTER ,ONLY TIME WILL TELL. FIND OUT ON THE FIELD.MAKING A RIVALRY OF TWO SCHOOLS DOESNT MAKE SENSE.IM HAPPY THAT SCHOOLS IN THE WHOLE AREA ARE HAVING SUCCESS. ONE THING IS FORSURE,DONT OVERLOOK ST.PAULS ABILITY TO GET BETTER EVERY WEEK. BECAUSE I SAW IT HAPPEN WITH MY OWN TWO EYES. SEMI-FINALS WITH A TOTAL OF 5 SENIOR STARTERS. PRETTY IMPRESSIVE.
Paul has a lot of people who do not "do unto others" and seem to have hate in their hearts!?!
to st. paul guy- i read your comments talking about your great schedule. If you are so tought why dont you go back to div. 1 and play in a league with Bishop Amat, Loyola and St.Joh bosco - no instead you cry about not being good enough-you cant have it both ways. If you are as tough as you think you are prove it by going back to Div. 1 - NO EXCUSES!- AND ALL THOSE TITLES YOU MENTIONED- THEY ARE WAY IN THE PS=AST-WHAT HAVE YOU DONE LATELY!
FUNNY HOW YOU KNOW ALL THIS STUFF ABOUT ME!!WERE YOU THE STAT GUY AT CANTWELL? DID YOU EVEN PLAY? I BET IF YOU TOLD ME WHO YOU ARE I WOULDNT EVEN REMEMBER YOU. HOW MANY TOUCHDOWNS DID YOU THROW FOR? ARE YOU RAY WALKERS FAN CLUB PRESIDENT? FUNNY HOW JUST TWO YEARS AGO THEY PUT ME IN THE HALL OF FAME AT CANTWELL. I GUESS YOUR RIGHT I WAS TERRIBLE. BUT THIS IS NOT ABOUT ME, ITS ABOUT PEOPLE LIKE YOU WHO DONT HAVE THE GUTS TO REVEAL YOURSELF. DONT WORRY IM NOT GOING TO HURT YOU OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT. JUST OWN UP TO YOUR COMMENTS! BE A CANTWELL MAN OR CHANGE YOUR NAME TO MYSTERY GUY OR SOMETHING ELSE.ONCE AGAIN=== COACH GONZALEZ FOR COACH OF THE YEAR!! CANTWELL ALUMNI.
Joseph Gonzalez, when did you become an expert on football. You played at Cantwell back in the late 80's. I wouldn't consider that real football. You threw 2 yard passes that Ray Walker turned into 60 yard touchdowns. Your older brother did a better job than expected this year, but he didn't do as good as Coach Dick.
Paul.
I'll step down from my soapbox now.....
YOU TELL HIM, POSITIVE PARENT! GO SCHURR!
Mike Jones-Who?
Mike Jones-Who?
Guess they don't listen to Power 106!
Positive Parent:
I think you need to rethink your name!?!
At least Joseph Gonzalez is just backing his bro! You're getting crazy . . . "Grow up"--Physician, heal thyself!
wats up everone , first of all lets just get my vote for player of the year , just coming from someones view who played on the feild , steven cano the sickest player that i played this year , sick props to you big dog , mad props to my boys at st. paul too, no one thought you would make it that far and you guyz did , love all ya all . all these peps saying ya all are over rated is full of $HIT I THINK , i dont really care what they think of me , And coach of the year , i could care less man , and i could really care less who gets POY 2 its just Cano i thought was thought was down on both sides of the ball. but ISSAC GARCIA , ANGEL MOLINA , CHRIS MORALES ,ROMEO PELLUM AND RUDY JORDAN could also get it i think , all i know is i aint soo watever , AND GEZZ MAN , THERES ALOT OF HATERZ ON THIS BLOG , i thnk everone should just kick back and just watch the game and not talk trash on the internet , thats just me though , Well peace out EVERONE !!!
Esteban Camarillo is without doubt the palyer of the year. Say what you will about the competition. Whittier christian putting a beating on whittier like no other team did.
MIKE JONES? NEVER HEARD OF YOU. THATS FOR SURE. ANYWAYS ,THE TEAM THATS MOST PREPARED USUALLY WINS. OR DIDNT YOU LEARN THAT AT VAIL HIGH? WHAT A DUMB ASS COMMENT . LOOK AT ALL THE BEST TEAMS IN THE SOUTHLAND. GAME PLAN IS THE KEY. YOU WORK ON YOUR GAME PLAN DURING THE WEEK AND MAKE YOUR BOYS BELIEVE. I BET THAT YOU DIDNT EVEN PLAY FOOTBALL. YOUR A SORRY CASE FOR A PERSON THAT THINKS HE OR SHE KNOWS FOOTBALL.GIVE A CALL TO ANY WELL KNOWN COACH AND ASK HIM HOW HE AND HIS STAFF GET READY FOR AN UPCOMING GAME. YOU SOUND LIKE THE TYPICAL BENCHWARMER ALL TALK AND NO ACTION. MIKE JONES?
Mike Jones - You're the idiot talking out of his butt! SP would kill SHS hands down! I can see it already "SCHURR SPARTANS 2032 CIF CHAMPS" WOW!
SHS - Interesting such big words from a school that took 26 years to win CIF again. I have the upmost respect for Coach Dick as coaching at any caliber should be rewarded. It's punks like yourself that take everything out of context.. GROW UP!
And as for SP being overated with their litle camps and transfers, that's what high schools are suppose to do. You probobly don't even play the game and if you do, have your head checked, I think you may have some loose screws.. CHOKE ON THAT!!
st.paul is over rated and so is there coaching staff due to the fact that they have there little camps and transfers and still find a way to choke..
lol games are not won at practice you idiot...its won on friday nights how can you win something at practice???playing with yourself or what!!!!coach of the year is elvin dick....player of the year joesph orduno...i wanna see schurr play st paul!!!
IT JUST GOES TO SHOW YOU THAT SOME PEOPLE HAVE NO COMMON SENSE ABOUT ANYTHING IN SPORTS,LIFE.TO RESPOND TO SOMEONE LIKE SPFAN WOULD ONLY MAKE HIM FEEL LIKE PEOPLE ARE LISTENING. SO IM NOT GOING TO GIVE HIM THE SATISFACTION.AS FOR COACH GONZALEZ, YOU SHOULD BE PROUD OF WHAT YOU AND YOUR STAFF ARE DOING.HELPING YOUNG BOYS BECOME MEN!THE ST.PAUL WAY. THROUGH HARD WORK AND DEDICATION THOSE YOUNG MEN ARE RESPONDING. GOOD LUCK IN THE FUTURE AND JUST REMEMBER THAT YOU WILL NOT ALWAYS MAKE EVERYONE HAPPY.THE PEOPLE THAT MEAN THE MOST ARE THE ONES THAT ARE AROUND YOU. NOT THE NEGITIVE PEOPLE THAT MAKE SILLY COMMENTS.YOU AND YOUR STAFF DID A GREAT JOB.. GOOD LUCK.
O.k. this is getting crazy to St.
SP Fan - you are a total disgrace inside and out! To even use the letters "SP" in your user name is tragedy! Your a fan but a hater at the same time? The jelousy and hate for the DESERVING coach of the year is outrageous! Why don't you and the other 10 "hating" alumni go to hell already! Give it a rest, Coach A is 10 feet under.. let it go! Give GONZALEZ the respect he deserves and keep your personal idiosyncrasies to yourself. There are MANY SP players who respect Mr. Gonzalez and you should have the respect to shut up especially since your not a student. You must be part of the GRISBY bashing team.. go blog for CalHi and vote for Coach Munoz "best advice coach of the year", that's a real winner! And I hope Coach Gonzalez' brother tracks you down and kicks your ass! NOW THAT'S DESERVING!
Sp fan....Once again change your name. Do all Swordsmen fans a favor and don't respond at all. There is so much to life than to hate so much it's a shame. People are great judges but if you were such a great coach you would be down there. My son is a Swordsmen and proud and completely votes for Coach Gonzalez as Coach of the year. Sometimes I don't like what happens on the field but that is for the coaches and the players to handle their business. We love St. Paul and their pride. One more thing Coach A didn't make the schedule this year right? Thats why we have Servite our first game. St. Paul once again your true fans will always support you.
Hey mr. Joseph gonzales , why dont you Go and ask the players at St. paul and anyone else who has recently graduated , and see if they think you older bro deserves it . Not hating on you , cuz i can repect you backing your bro. but i still very much stand by what i said ,
I watch all friday night scores, I read the paper every Saturday morning for updates. I just love football. We can go round and round on everybodys opinion and basically they do not count. Thinking about this topic. Coach Dick did a great job and brought home a championship. My vote for coach of the year would go to Coach Gonzalez from St. Paul his record is commendable and his effort and experience was awesome. St. Paul has a hefty schedule and that has to be recognized. Great job to all coaches for a great football year.
To the blogger
Yeah i seen st. paul play plenty times , and i know , and look at the schedual he has for next year , he didnt make this years schedual , it was the man Coach A. . So maybe if you knew more facts like i do you wouldnt be talking to me like that . Good luck next year st. paul i wish the best , But back to coach of the year i still believe it should be the shurr coach , great Job to them .
There is no doubt...no question about it...Schurrs Quarterback Joseph Orduno should be awarded Player of the Year. When it comes to heart and dedication, that kid excells. Having been a hard worker, an excellent team leader, and one of the main reasonsfor schurrs cif title, Orduno deserves Player of the Year.
Coach of the Year-Walter Scott from Whittier. What an improved team they fielded this year.
Go Swordsmen.
roger-after watching the last few weeks of playoff games my choice for player of the area is definetly joseph orduno of Schurr. I was so impressed by his leadership and heart. his performance against Santa Fe was terrific and he has played that way all year.
I say Coach Gonzalez for coach of the year. He is coach of the year in the kids eyes I do know that.
My vote is for Coach Gonzalez from St. Paul. He taught these kids to play with heart and dedication. It shocked us every single week when the kids would get out there and play. Every week the coaches have to get creative and spectacular when your coming against great teams and I beleive Coach Gonzalez and his staff did that. My vote is for Coach Gonzalez. I am a true St. Paul fan.
David bomer you are a class act and you will be back at the title game you run hard and with alot of heart. I wish lots of luck.
great game CONGRATS SCHURR
As a former chieftain I would have to say ANGEL MOLINA, ROMEO PELLUM, and even maybe DAVID BOMER.
BUT, after last night having never seeing SCHURR play I would give it to Jose Orduno truly a great team leader! and play maker 3 TD'S were because he would'nt give up Nice job Good Luck next Year to both team.
To Spartan fans and Partents Way win with some Class and diginity I heard alot of cheering in the parking lot but NO trash talking,
Congrats to Shurr on thier victory last night. They played hard and deserve the title of champion. See ya next year!!!
HOW DO U SPELL "CHIEFS"?
C-H-O-K-E...THATS HOW!!!
Pete Gonzales - St. Paul.
Was faced with replacing a coaching legend, the toughest schedule in So Cal, a young and inexperienced team and took them to the CIF semi's.
Taught the kids to play with heart, class, determination and to believe in themselves.
I would say st. paul and give it to the coach but he was such a sissy watching him studder when calling plays and get scared before the game , st. paul had a great and unbelieveable season but it was the players who had the heart and desire to win , god luck st. paul next year cause you guys will be in game 14 next year , and other then el rancho , i hope some other area coaches would agree to play them , but none of them dont really want to be embarressed cause thats a fact of what would happen, i Give coach of the year to the Shurr coach , great year , no really all star athletes , just some guys that have balls
Elvin Dick at Schurr, no one gave Schurr a chance, not even me, and here we are week 14 and schurr is playing for a title.
