They're isn't another team in the whole state of California..wait, in the UNITED STATES, that has beaten THE #2 TEAM in the nation. Wait a minute...that's right LBBOY, WCFAN, LA MIRADA BOYS BASKETBALL BEAT GAHR AND POWERHOUSE ARTESIA in the same week!!! OWNED!!!!!

Mediocre teams don't beat Gahr, ranked No. 4 by its local newspaper, No. 13 by L.A. Times, and No. 16 in the state by Cal-Hi Sports.

I see that Whittier Christian has defeated Calvary Chappel (6-10), LA Baptist (11-8) and Village Christian (7-9) lately.

Roger: La Mirada should be moved to No. 1 now. Look at strength of schedule and quality of wins.

I am sorry to rain on La Mirada's parade, but you guys have never really done anything in basketball before, and never will.

You guys might be number two in the weakest area paper in so cal, but once the league play and playoffs come around, you guys suck.

You are going to lose 6 more games no matter what this season to SB, ARTESIA 2X, GAHR, AND MAYFAIR 2X.....

THATS 9 LOSSES plus 1 in first round cif, which makes 10......

I also love how the coach here makes it seem like la mirada is some amazing team with super humans, and should be undefeated even though they lost by scores of 42, 7, and 6. I can see losing by 1 or 2, but 42???

Yea, I was probably off the mark with the "recruiting" remark. It's a habit of mine when talking about a successful private school athletic program. But I shouldn't say things that are ungrounded and unfair. I am sorry. On the point of being a "hater," boy is that undeserving. I was responding to a red-hot post badmouthing our program in an asinine way. On another point, it's highly unlikely that WC will have two players that go on to Division 1 schools, at least in the near future. Prospects, yes, but reality, probably not. Maybe someone can shed light on the 22-point loss to Glendora. Perhaps these two Division 1 prospects didn't play, who knows? Would like an explanation, though, because a team with two Division 1 prospects and a weak schedule should be undefeated. About yesterday's game at Glenn, we didn't play up to par but that's been our standard procedure this year, play good against the better teams and sleepwalk against the lesser-regarded ones. Friday's game at home against Mayfair will tell a lot. Until then...

I have just looked at max preps, and see that La Mirada beat a WEAK GLENN team that has played a much weaker schedule than WC, b only 8 points.....

I don't know who wc fan is and i don't agree with the argument they made. However your a little over the line in saying that are schhol recruits players. Your talking about a school who fired a legendary football coach, then hired his son and law; who led the program to like ten victories in ten years. The administration promotes sportsmanship not victories. Are athletic program was a joke throughout the 90's and is now just starting to field strong teams. However our integrity was never lost, and to throw the recruiting card at us is iresponsible on your part. Were probaly not deserving of the #1 ranking, but definitely not deserving of your acusations.

Point VERY well taken Mr. Piazza. Thank you. One more thing WCFAN, if I was the LM coach, I would of scheduled WC, La Habra, and La Serna to prove a point who is #1 in the area.

WC Fan, you are a bit testy. It must be the lack of competition your team faces...are you bored? Honestly and sincerely, and not just blowing smoke, La Mirada would destroy your team this year. We've played Lawndale (making the El Rancho Tournament not a cakewalk as you proclaim), North Torrance, El Toro, an undefeated Orlando Christian Prep (hey, we finally got a game against a team with a "Christian" in it!) and will play Santa Barbara, Gahr, Artesia (twice) and Mayfair (twice). On the other hand, Whittier Christian plays Dorothy Chandler's Pavillion, Smallville, Boise State's JV team, and Mary Star Chicken of the Sea. You lost to Glendora by 22 points this season and a weaker Matadores team beat Glendora last year. About the KSA Tournament, we came in third in our bracket. Who said "entire thing." Anyway, there is no "entire thing." It's four separate tournaments; no one even pays any attention to the other brackets. I didn't see one minute of one game from the other three brackets, which might as well have been held at powerhouse L.A. Baptist's homecourt for all I cared. No one is disputing that you have 600 students, some of them recruited; we're talking about which is the best team in the area. Don't crawl behind enrollment and a weak schedule and then proclaim superiority in the area. You are probably the best 600-student, weak-scheduled team in the nation, but would maybe win one out of 10 games against the Matadores this year.

Please stop bashing on whittier christians schedule....

Sorry that you still arent #1 in the area, you dont deserve it either..
Look at college football right now, No One believed Boise's hype, because of a weak schedule, but they went out and beat one of the best teams in college football and in the history of the game...

WC does all it could with and enrollment less than 600, lets see la mirada lose 1900 kids and see them compete at the level we do.

coach of la mirada who posts behind the title of suburban league fan, if you have a problem with our tournament and the teams inside it, why dont u come next year and see if david vs. goliath really exists.....

o, and the el rancho tournament is such a strong tournament.....hypocrites.

also, the KSA Tournament had 4 different brackets, so la mirada did not finish 3rd in the entire thing, they finished at highest of 32 teams, 11.

I've got to go see La Mirada play now. They've got a tough league to play in with Mayfair and Artesia. I knew Artesia would be good but to take down Mater Dei? Wow.

Thanks Mr. Murray for giving The La Mirada boys credit where credit is due. The boys had a successfull run at the KSA tournament in Florida. Facing teams from all over the US, La Mirada was able to take 3rd place. Congratulations to The La Mirada Boys Basketball Team which according to their quality strength of schedule they have faced, I feel LM IS the #1 Team in the area. Hopefully in the future, one of the other area teams will invite tougher teams to their tournaments they host....

Its about time you gave the Lady Lancers create, keep it up Ladys and Good Luck tonight.
