Girls owed their due, too ...
While discussions are ongoing concerning the area's outstanding high school male performers, how about the girls?
There are names that have become common place in the daily coverage, but there are some athletes out there who will be just as deserving when it comes to all-league and all-area consideration.
While I am hesitant to single out individuals at this point for fear of building false hope, nonetheless there are names that come quickly to mind (remember, these are just for starting the dialog):
La Serna center Jenna French
St. Paul guard Lesley Vodicska
Cantwell forward Cynthia Duarte
California forward Lyanna Augborne
Santa Fe guard Debbie Chavez
Hmmmm, wouldn't be a bad starting lineup.
Remember, that's just to whet the appetite.
Share other names of those who could be candidates for post-season honors.

Guess not.......
So much for giving the girls their due.
Hey Roger,
Any word on the all league selections for the DRL girls waterpolo teams?????
Whittier Christian has Whitley Brown, soph.(12.1 ppg/9.5 rpg/2.7 apg) and Elissa Ronquillo, jr.(10.2 ppg/5.6 rpg/2.7 spg). Also, at any time, any of the other playes on the team can step up and make a difference (i.e Annelise Calzada in the CIF Finals) Coach Crammer has built a "Team" in a day and age when selfishness and individulaity rewarded. These girls put the team before their own stats.
I WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU MR MURRY FOR ALL YOUR GIRLS BASKETBALL SUPPORT AND WE KNOW HOW HARD ALL THE TEAMS WORKED TO GET TO THE TOP. GO! WCH GIRLS BASKETBALL. THEIR HAVE BEEN MANY FIRSTS THIS SEASON AND WE ARE VERY PROUD THAT WOMENS BASKETBALL HAS COME SO FAR.BUT WHEN YOU THINK OF ALL AREA LOOK AT THE LEADERS IN SCORING,REBOUNDING AND ASSIST ON THE LOCAL AND STATE LEVEL. THERE YOU GO,THATS YOUR TEAM.
Since I have seen many of the girls games played in the "area" and coach many of them, I would like to give my version of an "all-area" team and, just as important, players to watch for next year. My all-area would be the Vodicska sisters and Savini-St.Paul, Jenna French-LS, Anna Augborne-Cal, Deb Chavez-SF. I have not seen Cynthia Duarte play so I cannot comment on her. Other players to look out for next year: Jessica Vingerelli and Brittany Aranda-SF, Daisy Bueno and Angela Van Sickel-SP, Ericka Arroyo-Cal, Bri Vasquez-LS, and Loren Gurrola-Whit. I am anxious to see how these girls make an impact on their teams and their respective leagues.
After last nights game it says who the areas best players are.
Jenna French
Annie Failla
Jamie Coins
Natalee Venagas
Corrine Randazo
Cynthia Mendoza
La Serna has brought it to a level never met before all in part to our seniors.
Good Luck Lady Lancers.
i may have been wrong about st pauls girls bb team this year maybe the coach can play some good teams early in the season to get the kids ready for the playoffs the coach likes to beat up on the little sisters of mercy schools PLAY SOME TOP 10 SCHOOLS EARLY IN THE SEASON IT WILL ONLY HELP COME PLAYOFF TIME the talent is in place for next year do the right thing coach
I agree with you. St. Paul is loaded this year. I'm looking at a Marlborough-St. Paul final just like 2005.
As far as other area teams go, don't eliminate La Serna yet. I see them in the finals as well against Indio.
skye savini lesley vodicsica and daisy bueno from st paul are a lock for all area marie vodicsica is a heck of a player but she missed a few games because of a bad ankle like i have been saying this st paul team is loaded playoffs are here fasten your seatbelts by saturday st paul will be the only area team left in the playoffs jump on the band wagon early because its going to be along ride go girls
