Matadores' Jones on a tear

| | Comments (2) |

With 16 hits in 18 at bats over the past five games, it really doesn't matter much who the opponents are.

That's impressive hitting.
So goes La Mirada High School center-fielder Kandis Jones, who is pounding the ball and has the Matadores riding a six-game winning streak.
Jones' torrid pace began with a 4-for-4 performance against Santa Fe and most recently includes an 8-for-8 effort over her last two games. For the season, she is hitting .676 with an .824 slugging percentage and a .703 on-base percentage.
She has struckout just four times in 34 at bats, including twice in the season opener.
She is leading a team that is 9-1-1 going into today's game against Bellflower with a combined .356 batting average and is averaging seven runs per game.
Is there any argument concerning whether the Matadores should be No. 1 in the area's weekly rankings?

Kandis is an outstanding all around student athlete.
She exemplifies the term with a 4.1 GPA and a full scholarship to NMSU. Couldnt be more proud for her and and our team, she is currently batting close to .600!! She is our staple to the outfield, and has Juan pierre like speed on the bases.

She also has a cousin at la mirada who is a 2 sport varsity athlete, and jones says he carries a 3.8 GPA and scored well over a 1800 SAT, Richard Estrella (Sp on the last name).

I wonder how many family duos exist inside lmhs, since i only follow girls softball and volleyball..But Jones deserves the recognition as does their entire team.
GO Mats!

Murray,
It's about time you give LM Softball some ink, even though it's just your blog.
Kandis has been unstoppable at the plate. Opposing pitchers have been scratching their head wondering how to get her out.
The rest of the Lady Matadores are just beginning to heat up.
