Tough to tell the players without numbers, but in a passing scrimmage against St. Paul, Schurr displayed an impressive combination of quarterback (tall, strong-armed) and receiver (tall, slender, good speed and hands). A legitimate deep threat.

wat is all this talk about schurr losing the jordans. they are still gonna have a very solid offense as well as a very solid defense and they should win another ring next year.....they have many new young players that are going to step up and make big plays to repeat the cif title and compete for state....

I can’t believe you are seriously asking what I am trying to say. What exactly in that post didn’t you understand? The question is straight forward as well as my opinion on the subject. Everyone knows that you don’t rebuild a program in a couple of seasons so how do you not see that their transfers don’t make to much sense? The kids already played for coach G for a season one being a starter. And as a returning starter going to the season it’s your spot to lose so why change to a big “ ? ” of a team when time is so short and you’ve already been successful in a proven program?

Best of luck to the Ranch. Hopefully they will be at SF’s passing tournament and I can get a look at this CB first hand.

The ranch isnt having many passing league games, they are having a couple against HH Wilson, a couple against Northview and I believe they will be playing in a tournament at Bonita, ill post the dates for them here when I found out he exact dates.

Can anyone tell me how the ranch is doing in passing league. I don't get to see them during the week. Are they going to be at any tournaments. They maybe small but I know that they will bring it.

St.Paul has got alot of transfers and they realy didnt get much from santa fe, all they got was a over rated freshmen QB and a line backer QB that dosent Know right from left the only thing that the chiefs lost was a QB but they still have Fooks and they would have had a good pocket QB in Reveles but the word is that he switched to line

These kids are good players and it doesnt matter why they left st paul and ended up at ER, they will make an impact in the Del Rio league whether you like it or not. I can tell you right now these kids did not leave St Paul because they were afraid of competition.

Why would a sophomore starting CB leave a school the caliber of St Paul which according to you plays schools notches above the DRL to play for a 0-10 team in the DRL??? Hey they may not be big kids but if Galan was able to start at CB and Aldecoa was able to get some considerable amount of time at Fullback then they must be pretty talented kids and would likely do well against Del Rio league teams considering St Paul usually plays alot of teams that are a few notches above the Del Rio league caliber. If you want to keep doubting them then go ahead, but when you see these 2 kids dominate the Del Rio league the next 2 years your gonna feel pretty smart.

When is the last time SF had 10+ transfers in one year? NEVER! While it is upsetting to me that SF has lost some kids if you read my blogs the core of my anger is in the number of kids from ALL the schools in the area include those lost there at ER. Please understand that it’s not a Santa Fe against the world thing! St Paul should have to adhere to the same CIF rules private or not!

As far as the mentioned Lakewood transfer. I have heard nor seen any such transfer at this time so I’ll reserve comment on that one for now.

That was the best analogy of the SF – Schurr game I’ve read so far. On paper (which we all know doesn’t mean crap) there is no way SF loses that game. Thanks for sharing and good luck to your son. And good luck to everyone else in hopes all the kids stay injury free! I cant wait for the passing leagues and tournaments. I hope St Paul returns to SF’s TOC this summer. Should be pretty interesting.

I sure would like to know what the heck all these kids are being told to make them transfer to St Paul. First they couldn’t even keep their D1 running back from leaving and now kids are willing to transfer in? It just seems if they are going to be part of CIF then they should be held accountable to the same rules and guidelines as everyone else. Honestly, I don’t have a problem with a freshman or even a sophomore kid realizing they’d rather be at another school and making a move to better themselves but when you’re going to be a senior and try to move just seems wrong. Especially when that kids has been know to be a bit of a trouble maker to which school staff has bend over backwards to help out and keep on track for eligibility and graduation only to have that person up and leave. And please don’t cry it’s for the education when you’ll only be there for your senior year. That just doesn’t fly!!!

Bottom line……public or private, if you’re going to be a part of CIF the rules should be the same!!

One last question: With all these transfers where does that leave the blue collar kids that have work hard for three years waiting in the wings for their senior year only to have coaches bring in one hit wonders???????

Joey Jordan going to La Serna is Big for their program. I have known the Jordans over 25 years. I played football at Schurr with his brother Bobby. I have followed Joey's football career from the 1980 CIF Championship through his days as the QB for the Whittier Poets ending with his years playing in Europe. Joey has a great football mind he is fresh and innovative not afraid to push the envelope. What he did with an undersized schurr offense was outstanding. During the championship game Schurr ran so many different formations it left Santa Fe scratching their heads. Santa Fe had the best talent but they under estimated Schurr. I spoke to Bobby Jordan after the game and he told me Joey was practicing plays during the playoff run that were not going to be reflected on film. Joey new that the only shot they had winning CIF was to use the element of surprise. He knew they weren't going to pound it against Santa Fe. The Bottom line, Santa Fe was not prepared. Joey is going to be a refreshing look to the Del Rio League. Something the league has needed for years. If he stays at La Serna you will see the best Athletes from Middle school pulling permits to play for La Serna. By the way, for all of you that thing I am a La Serna Homer. I'm not. My son starts Cal High this year as a freshman, I will be a proud Condor!

Why do coaches recruit?
Because their are coaches out that can teach and mold any type of player into football Players. and their are coaches that can only coach players that have already been molded by coaches that put in the time. Don't get me wrong recruiting is a tough job selling your soul to a 15-16 year old boy take alot. Coaches that take this route should be showered with honors like coach of the year, coach an all star games induction to a hall of fame. For the coaches that really coach keep at it as long as you can tell yourself that you coached this game with boys that you built and molded without begging someone elses players to play for you. You are already a winner.

i had interesting conversation with one of my players the other day. he told me that he was going to transfer to St.Paul for a better education i ask my player did any of their coaches contact you. He told me that Coach Gonzalez called him and told what he need to do to transfer. he also told me that coach gonzalez was in Las Vegas why would he know that.

Something interesting for you guys... today 6/16/07 a number of ER players went to culver city to some kind of camp with the LA avenger players, there was also a good number of kids from nearby schools such as inglewood and others. Now why in the world would alot of the St Paul staff be there when none of their players were there. Why would they be taking notes on certain players including El Rancho's Tibny Camberos who looked pretty impressive out there? anyone care to elaborate.

What's up with all this talk about 'HONOR?' If a kid wants to go somewhere else that is his decision. It is not like a player signs a contract saying that he will stay with that respected high school for all 4 years. And another thing... I hate to break your hearts, St. Paul fans, but St. Paul does recruit! I'm not passing judgement, personally I don't care if a private school recruits, but trust me... St. Paul recruits players. And of course players are going to transfer to St. Paul to get a scholarship, they continue to succeed and kids want to be in a successful program. I can also see why some kids want to get out of St. Paul, because they might not get playing time or might just hate the school (i hear that kids get fined for the smallest "offenses.") However, I do have beef with other area schools recruiting. We all know about the Cal Hi incident, but that was due to Coach Ancich (who by the way took all the new weights out of the Cal Hi weight room and took them with him to wherever he is coaching at now.) But I guess my point is that public schools should not recruit because your job as a coach is to see the greatness in your players and bring it out of them, not outsourcing. Let the private schools do that, let them do what they need to do in order to win. It's their problem that they can't work with a kid that doesn't have the talent of a Div. I prospect.

I agree with 'El Rancho'. I think most of us are not in the 'know' about CIF transfer regulations. The transfers we have been talking about on these blogs(Galan,Aldecoa,Morales,Haynes)have all been fair game.The players tranferring to and out of SP are potent athletes. I don't think their parents or their new coaches would allow them to make a decision that would sit them out a year. I am eager to watch them all play for their new schools this season.

Marcus Galan is now attending ER, and watched Spring practice for a few minutes yesterday. Marcus Aldecoa will play for the ranch this year, quit with the sour grapes already, he reads this blog and he says its all bs.

I was reading what Pico Parent wrote and I would like to say your right. Kids have to take responsibilty but Coaches have to be prepared and coach these kids, if a kid is well coached it will show on the field. At the end of the day the kids are on the field. Society and Whittier-area-football is not going down the drain. If kids lack work ethic and attitude its because their coaches are not providing the proper motivation. If a player trusts and respects his coach, he will follow that coach to hell if asked to. Perfect example: El Rancho under Reyna. Work ethic and morale were in the gutter due to the lack of leadership effort. This year however, with new leadership and virtually the same roster, commitment and work ethic have soared.

Do us all a favor, take a trip over the train tracks and sit through a St Paul football practice. Then tell us attitude and work ethic have plunged.

His mom is his guardian so therefore she would have to move. She lives in Monetebello. Therefore if you think he lives with grandma she would have to move it doesnt matter if you live in pico or not. I dont know who you are ER but you need to go with the facts not your heart for the school. Get a clue!

From what I remember, during aldecoas first week at ER, one of the deans came out to get him during 4th period football and Aldecoa got picked up by his mom to go take care of some kind of paperwork, from what I know he went and got things taken care of. Somehow I see things like these as sour grapes, but all I know is that if he isnt completely cleared then ER will not allow him to play a down, the administration will make sure everything is squared away before he plays. I dont think we can afford a Cal hi situation from last year at ER, that would be a travesty. If all goes as it should then we are looking at a huge season at the ranch, we had about 130 kids come out for spring ball the first week, that number of course has diminished down to about 80 but the only key big loss was the transfer of Sean Acuna, lookout for the ranch this year.

Aldecoa lives with grandmother and aunt in pico. His mom lives in montebello. He should be going there. He should have a permit to go to ER and he still has to sit out one year on the varsity I would hate for ER to have to forfeit all its games because of it.

I like your central arguement (which i believe is directed at shaming those bloggers who write negative, hurtfull, and derogitory comments) but what i don't like is the fact that you have to build yourself up before you explain what it is that you're upset about (just say you've coached for awhile). Also, i don't believe that a few bad apples on this blog speak for the whole whittier area or that everyone on this blog are actually "role models." I know some guys on here (or that use to blog on here) that are still in high school; and the only reason they blog is to support their high school by talking smack on others. The change has been in the last 10 -15 years. With the x-box games, kids would rather be inside then outside playing and yes that is sad. But their our a lot of kids out there that love to be out on that field, at Whittier high we have 110 young men out for football. The most in 10-15 years, maybe ever.But what is more sad is that you would give up on these young men in the Whittier area and you would thank god for it. Shame on you.

I am a high school coach. i have also coached numerous seasons at the college level. In fact over the last couple of years I have had the opportunity to be the head coach at two schools in your area but turned them down. i have realy noticed a change the last 8 or 9 years in the attitude, work ethic, and expectations of high school players. Every once in a while I scan these boards, among others, to see what is going on. I have to say, without a doubt, that it is shameful to see the behavior that is exhibited both on this board, the Tribune board, and the Cal Hi boards. (Not California HS). If this is an example of the direction our society is going, which I have had my own suspicions about for some time, then I really have evidence as to why so many kids these days don't have a clue about what character is. They have you guys as role models. Unbelievable and shameful! I would say thank God I am not associated with the Whitteir Area but unfortunately it is like that everywhere. the Little League mentality has infected us all huh?

Pete (Gonzalez) and I are good friends and he never asked me to be the OC at St. Paul. I do wish the best of luck to his team this year, he and his players should be wearing a ring come Feb. 2008. As for my tenure at Schurr, I have nothing but respect for coach D, he's a great coach and we worked well TOGETHER! It didn't matter who called the play, the only thing that mattered was the PLAYERS EXECUTION. As far as my loyalty - I LOVE COACHING (and playing) anywhere. "He who is without the sin of coaching at different schools can cast the first stone" All coaches move around. I believe Sean Acuna was #61. Im not certain as to why he left but it seemed like he wasnt seeing eye to eye with one of the coaches and he lives in Hacienda Heights anyways. He only attended ER because his mom is a teacher at ER. I believe there was some contact between him and coach Gano and he also talked to Sean Cody, I have no idea if they influenced his transfer. We will miss Sean, but the line is pretty dam good with Travis, Mario Berny, Garret Carrillo, David Zapata, Zuniga, and Garcia, biggest line at ER in about 7 years.

First of all I'm not Joey Jordan, I don't even know him personally, but I have been around football for a long time and have seen the results of the different teams he's been around. And I just happen to be very close friends with some of the people at Schurr High School and they were so pleased with the job that he came in and did (CIF Championship). Can't someone give credit to someone when they feel credit is due. And from what I heard he wasn't shopping schools, schools were shopping for him (St. Paul included). So you mean to tell me that what ever school you guys go for you wouldn't take Jordan and his son on your team. Yeah right you would do it in a heartbeat. And I don't want to offend Joey Jordan or anything but I just think that him and his son going to La Serna was a great move, especially for the La Serna program. La Serna always has solid athletes but don't get the coaching, and now they have it. So the league better be ready. And Daddy your a joke. Oh come now I think it is safe to say that going undefeated in any sport on any high school level is an accomplishment. I'm not saying it is the difference maker for the program, but don't go around saying that it doesn't mean anything. I saw on another blog that Sean Acuna has transfered to LA. What # was he and why did he leave the ranch.
I heard that Cal Hi has about 160 boys out for spring ball. La Serna and Whittier have a little over 100 each.Does anybody have the numbers for Santa Fe, El Rancho, or Pioneer. It sounds like the numbers are going up for boys playing football in the DRL. More boys means better football.

El Rancho has the players, we had alot of players last season but Willie Reyna was too stubborn and didnt play them, when an athlete like David Moriel plays 3 plays against Cal High what does that tell you. ER showed its capability for over 3 quarters against Cal Hi last season, we should have been playing like that all season but unfortunately the coaching staff was just horrible and that just wasnt possible. ER's problem last season was not the fact that we lacked good players, our big problem was the fact that our coaching staff was just horrible and they did not believe in the kids and honestly did not give a crap about the team. The change of offense is going to help ER big time, we have some great coaches that really want it bad this season and the kids are very committed. Lets go back to 2000, ER fires Jim Patricio and brings in Greg Setlich who runs the Wing-T, ER goes from 1-9 in 99 to 10-2 in 2000, the change of offense and change of coaching staff was the difference that season. I see alot of similarities between that season and this season. A very solid monster line returns for ER, add to that about 7 deep at running back including sophomore st paul transfer Marcus Aldecoa who IMO is going to be one of the best 2 way players in the Del Rio league. Go ahead and keep thinking the ranch is garbage but in november when the ranch is hoisting remember I said it here first, the ranch is back. Give me a break, going 10-0 as freshmen means absolutely nothing, when I played at ER we won league as freshmen, then went 10-0 on JV my sophomore year, you can dam well bet that didnt mean squat when I was on varsity because I never won league on varsity.

According to the blog, El Rancho can go from last to first just by changing there offense to the wing T and adding a few unhappy transfers. What a joke. You still have to have the players on the field. The difference is going to be at La Serna. With Jordan calling plays, the amount of preparation that opposing coach's will have to do has just doubled. The upcoming Junior class was undefeated as freshman and destroyed every team other than Cal High and finished 10-0. If they allow Burke to play QB,it just increases the diffuculty in stopping them. Last year, they should have beat Cal and lost to Santa Fe in a poorly played game on a thursday by both teams. Giving the ball to a running back 40 times a game allowed every team to play 8 in the box and the coach's were afraid to throw. The two headed QB's was nothing but a distraction because the coach's didn't have the courage to pull the trigger. After 4 months of practice with Jordan, and his son who will clearly help the running game, they will be ready to win. They are the team to watch. Whether they win or not, that is the team that just made the greatest improvement right before all of our eyes not some other undersized offense.

I coached at Schurr, Jordan called at least 85% of the plays and coach Dick would tell you that. look in the program OC = Jordan. jordan and Dick worked good together....if the La Serna staff can work well together they should be tough in the division next season

La Habra is loaded and I agree with you they should be ahead of Cal Hi. Cal Hi's best RB is at La Serna he got into trouble at Cal and had to transfer.

If you were there at the game you know that the QB was the MVP he should have been sacked like 5 times, but got away, and was able to throw the ball down field. By the way I talked to the Head Coach from Schurr, I asked him who was the O.C. and he said it was him, he was the one who called the plays, and that Jordan helped him upstairs.
El Rancho is not garbage with the transfers that are comming from St.Paul you better keep an eye on them.

i like football.... i went to a condor football practice the other day and i saw a big black guy that has hands and is quick. he seems like a big threat to any offense. from what i saw from this team is that santa fe better whatch out because the condors are out to win and win hard.

Umm i'm pretty sure that people think El Rancho is garbage because they went 0-10. La Serna had a pretty bad game against ER and turned the ball over 4 times; almost as much as ER and still managed to win. La Serna at least won a game. I also don't believe that one person makes a difference, but people are speculating that BOTH JORDANS, coach and player, will make a strong contribution. If you really want people to stop talking smack about the Ranch, then stop begging for sympathy and let the kids play. I'm sure the kids at ER will turn it around themselves.

The coaching staff can only call the plays and show/explain what their kids need to do in order to win. It's up to the players to do the rest. I'd also like to see SF and SP duke it out in the Pre-season but it will not happen anytime soon.

I'm a football fan for this entire area and have been for a long time. First of all these rankings are ridiculous, Cal Hi over La Habra - Cal has no one, rumor has it one of their best rb's is going to La Serna and there QB is awful, more like big, loppy and no coordination - with all the prayers he throws up it hurts to watch. La Habra is loaded next year. Do people not understand that the Jordans are going to La Serna, the same Jordans that knocked off DRL power house Santa Fe (with son Jordan torching them for three td's and the sealer at the end of CIF title game), and their at number 6/7 tied with garbage El Rancho, that's a joke . La Serna is going to beat Santa Fe because of the new coaching staff this year - every one will see.
Also to all the St.Paul people that think their school doesn't reqruit, you don't know very much about your school. I grew up in that area, I know coaches that coached there, players that played there, they even offered me a job to coach at St. Paul, the coaching staff, the players, and the administration knows what goes on at that school and so does everyone in this entire area. But what I'am content with is that we all know it's gonna happen and people should expect it. Not cry over it, and if I were a St. Paul fan I would just stay quiet and enjoy your season, not concur about things that you don't know. Just go to the game and have a good time, because this is something that has been going on for far too long and isn't going to change anytime soon. And for that matter it would be a great site to see the two biggest recruiting schools play each other (Santa Fe and St.Paul), but it will never happen unless it's during the preseason.

SP dad, Im not too familiar with the transfer policies, are you? How are you so sure Haynes will not be cleared?

The thing about St. Paul is if the players are not cleared through CIF they will sit a year. Haynes is a senior and it would be a shame to make promises they can't supply then burn the player his senior year. CIF has posted the transfer policies. Haynes is not going to get cleared. That is the shame of high school coaches today. They don't care about the education of a child or what is best for that child, they simply are trying to win at all cost. The price is Haynes losing an athletic scholarship because he will not get seen this season. Not only can you think of the thousands of dollars he is going to miss out on in college scholarship, but also the life experiences that college offers. When he has to sit out what punishment do the coaches have to pay? Blue Blood: a free education? Free? Maybe for the athletes, but not for the rest of the population. The fact that a player can walk in and receive a free education while others pay, shows the state of our scoiety. Sad isn't it. And to think, our founders of SP probably thought they were creating an institution where young catholics can get an education.

Haynes is big and recovering from surgery.But if he cant go 4 quarters, SP has a couple very speedy backs that can fill in the gaps.

Yes Aubrey is a little overweight and a tad bitt slow right now. He just had knee surgery 2 months ago and is still in the process of recovering. You will see a complete runingback come August..

I have a question for 605east. If a parent inquires about a school is that recruiting? If kids are intruiged by a schools success on the field is it wrong to ask about a school is that considered recruiting?

No, what I'm really trying to say is the SF has been processing the "incidental transfers" for SO LONG that they have it down to a science.

Now, you know that Tony Rivera-the transfer from Santa Fe which caused the forfeit-was not recruited by Cal. A third-string QB from Santa Fe-why would he be recruited? So his botched paperwork was not processed by the same type of slick machine that SF has in place.

No offense heraldfan but Whittier Christian will not get much respect by just beating Whittier. And lets face it, many teams do not get the credit or respect that they deserve. And even if WC does win their division or have great success, a lot of haters will just say that it was a fluke or that WC got lucky. So i guess what i am saying is that respect is hard to attain from the whittier area, even after many achievements, because even successful programs like SP,SF,Schurr, and Cal-Hi get attacked and criticized.

605 East, I guesse CIF will probally do the same thing that they did when Grisby broke every rule in the book. The actions NOTHING. My opinion is if a kid wants to go to a private school maybe for a better education and their parents can afford it, more power to them. Admit it we love it when kids leave St. Paul and end up on our door steps.

Why are you bashing marcus, just because he left st paul doesnt mean you should be talking so much smack about this kid. If he slacks off in the weight room I would not be able to tell as this kid is pretty strong from what I have seen in the ER weight room. Why would he quit the team halfway through the season, he quit the SP baseball team but that was because he knew he was on his way out of st paul so he had no reason to stay there. The kid is not garbage, ive seen this kid play for the PR dons since he was a JR Pewee, the kid is a stud and will do some big things for the ranch this year. I sure hope Marcus Galan makes his way to the ranch as well, if those sanctions happen then I would want to be nowhere close to st paul.

CIF offices have received formal complaints about Siant Paul and there recruits. Expect an official review of the players, coaching staff and school. Huge sanctions against players, coaches, and school if some of the accusations are true. This is news worhty!

Its amazing to me that Whittier Christian still gets no credit. They beat Whittier bad, could have been worse but coach slowed it down. Whittier beat Pioneer, La Serna, El Rancho, gave Santa Fe and Cal a game but yet somehow the Heralds are still down at the bottom. To be expected I guess. They will just have to prove themselves again this year vs Whittier. Two years back to back semi finals, 2 straight league championships. Caffrey has turned that program around and will continue to do so. Next year little WC will field a complete Freshman schedule, and have over 85 kids. Great numbers for a school of 700. We are still not Santa Fe or La Habra or St. Paul, but better than anyone else in this area. Prediction, next year they will win their division finally.

Its amazing that a student can't choose another school without the recruiting lingo coming in. What about all the kids who leave St. Paul and go to public schools and half the time its not the school in their area. But thats o.k.? Give it up all and lets support all our local schools. Try something different.

Marcus Aldecoa is garbage...dont expect anything from this guy. He has no motivation and slacks off in the weight room all the time. I wouldnt be suprised if he quit the team half way through the season.

Is that right? Haynes may not be eligible? I heard they also pulled a freshman who started on varsity from the same league (Wilson Hacienda Heights). How about the kids leaving St Paul for the Ranch? Do they face the same problem?

They were knocked off their perch . . .They lost on the FIELD to Cal and only got the win due to a technicality.
And Schurr embarassed them on the field!
With that being said, it is indictative that it has to be stated that the freshman QB didn't 'TRANSFER' from somewhere else--a common occurence at SF. (Yeah, we know, we know. SF has been investigated and never charged by CIF. But you never say that your illegal transfers are happening, just that you have never been caught.)

I beleive the problem with the kids leaving St.Paul could definetly be a number of things. Kids leave schools all the time for personal or academic reasons. It was stated on these blogs Aldocoa was caught ditching. That's unfortante and its obvious that it is a personal problem. Kids you have to stay in school and get the job done.

When you refer to Santa Fe's "area's best back-up quarterback returns" are you speaking of last year's freshman QB? Because, I understood your early predictions as referring to the Junior who's been the back-up QB for the last 2 years as well as the Free Safety from last years SF Football team. Please clarify, if for some reason I misinterpreted your posting.

He had said he would be at the ranch by monday, but he was enrolled as of today and he participated in 4th period football today and looked pretty good at LB.

Saint Paul has to worry about Haynes getting elligible. A lot of San Gabriel Valley coaches are sending letters to CIF about SP's illegal recruitment of players. Everyone knows Haynes was recruited and is not going to play a down for SP. Better get a new FB. Coaches go hit the recruiting trail again!

From what I know there is no grade issues right now with the ER players, my source is very close to the team. Aldecoa practiced with the team today, he looked pretty good.

Is it true a handful of key El rancho players are in grade trouble?

I did not understand a word from your last post; try punctuating the thing better so we can understand it. My point was that the sophomores coming up from the freshman team were not that good to bring an 0-10 team to league champ status. Watching the ER vs cal high and the ER vs whittier freshmen game before the SF vs ER game, #7 (Perea) was the least of our worries. We were more concerned with #2 and #5. The O line on that team didn't help the backs much; to their credit, #5 was a train and made his own holes and #2 was probably the shiftiest/fastest back in the freshman del rio league. The young QB at SF did make freshman mistakes, but believe me, he has the size/speed/strenght to evolve into a D1 prospect. He will be a solid contender for the starting job this year. As far as ER vs SF, we wont have to wait long, isnt it the first DR league game this fall?

That is huge for La Serna, I think he might have been the mastermind and the key to the success of the Schurr offense. Rumor has it Schurr lost a handful of coaches.

rankings are pretty good...i think la habra should be ranked #1...with SF#2 St. paul #3 with the rest staying the same.....schurr may have a tough year...the jordan kid is a stud without him on the roster i bet nobody can name 3 kids coming back...definetly a rebuilding year there....my sleeper is whittier

Is Jordan from Schurr going to be a coach at La Serna? If so what does that do to La Serna as a possible contender in the Del Rio League? Before any game has been played everybody is undefeated.

Don't forget we've also got the Garcia kid returning and the kid that transfered from the Ranch. The backfield cupboard ain't bare.

I've seen Canales work out and he's not only gotten bigger but like you said he has a cannon for an arm.

He's got a speedy bunch of recievers to throw to as well.

Opposing defenses won't be able to key on one part of our game like they did last year.

Well here we go, and in no particular order haha.
1. Santa fe- Same reason Murray, but I think they are not as good as they used to be. Look for a upset.
2. St Paul- Again with you Murray, but if they had Cal Hi's O line, they would be #1 and in the championship game.
3. La Habra- QB&RB returning with about half of the starters from last years team
4. Whittier- Think they have enough skill players coming back to keep them going forward. Defence will be improved with returning starters. Line big ??.
5. California- O line best and biggest in the area, power type RBs but no Grisby here. QB good but not great, soild defence.
6. El Rancho- Some transfers from St Paul could help ER get over on the others. Big line, but I heard from someone inside that they are soft. Team speed hurt last year can they get faster.
7. La Serna-Father & son (Jordans) will help enough so they wont be last. Iam also hearing soph QB last year might stay in baseball. Jorden coached jr QB in youth football.
8. Pioneer- Got the best young skill players around but no line. Sorry Pioneer get a line and you move almost to the top.
9. Whittier Christian- Agree with you again Murray. But the void is to big.
10. La Mirada- Still looking to find football greatness again.
11. Schurr- Big hit in losing the Jordans, but will bounce back. Coaching staff will find away to get it done.
12. Montebello- Iam hearing one more year and the head coach is out. The alumni can't wait.
13. Cantwell- If you want to dream big, you need to win more league games. Going to take a year or two to get there.

CHIEFTAIN I Do know the QB freshman personally and he is pretty good, but you need to take a look at the defensive who stopped him specially #61 also on the offensive line you said that all ER QB on the freshman team did was hand off take a look and see what guard was leading the pack #61 got to remember the first line of defense and offense is the line without the line nothing happens I don't care how good your backs are, give the Ranch a chance it just a game.

That Aubrey Hanes looks a tad bit overweight for the backfield, quite honestly.

The Swordsmen lost their back up full back in Marcus Aldecoa. He got expelled for ditching school when already on probation. So the backfield now belongs to Aubrey and the ever so tiny 5-6 Eddy De Dios.

Their starting quarterback, Andrew Canales, has a canon and has been working hard all year long to improve.

Their defense, pshhh..outstanding. Enough said.

Hey, 1-9 to 10-2 was possible wasnt it? Upcoming Sophomores, meaning this past years freshmen team, not this past years JV. From the JV there are only about 3 or 4 kids who will make a significant impact. There should be no excuse for the JV loss to SF, but that game was used to give all the 2nd and 3rd stringers a start since it was the last game of the season and the coach wanted to reward the kids who had not missed a practice all season.

Gotta love your optimism ER no matter how far fetched it is. From 0-10 to league champs, huh? I guess being at the bottom there is no where else to look but up. Santa Fe is going to have 2 very solid QB’s and a mass of team speed. Last years freshman qb was just that……a freshman. They are supposed to make mistakes at that level but make no mistake about it he probably could have started for a handful of area teams as a freshman. And I wouldn’t put too much into the up coming sophomores making a huge impact as you predict. They weren’t very good last year and I believe SF’s JV team handled them from one end of the field to the other. With all that being said I do hope ER gets better and the entire DRL for that matter. I am sick and tired of everyone bashing the DRL as being a weak league.

Josh hardly even threw the ball last season, the times he did throw it he made it count. Quit bsing he did not throw more picks than completions. If your SF freshmen QB was so good he would have led SF to an undefeated season, yet who was the champ at the end? Josh Perea is the definition of an athlete, he went both ways at QB and FS, last season was his first season playing QB in his life. Right now I would say that he will be just as good if not better than AJ Toscano.

Hey profiler, that really shouldn't suprise you I have seen the Saints in a passing league game last year and that was some of the most unsportsmen like conduct I have seen in a long time. I was really suprised with the coaches that they didn't attempt to control their players better. Rude awakening for some of these kids when they go to the next level.

There is no way in **** ER's freshman qb compares to ours. ER's QB threw more interceptions than completions last year. All he did was hand it to #5 & #2 all season long. Anyone could've done that. If that kid starts on varsity for el rancho, it says alot about the talent returning to the program. Until you prove you can compete in SANTA FE's league, stop making crazy predictions. You should have and could have beaten many del rio teams last year, but you didnt. Wait until november rolls around and we'll see where ER sits in the league.

Come on guys they are not in any kind of order. If they were St. Paul would be #1 (just kidding, i'm having some fun). Truth is Murray your predictions are pretty real. This is great.

lets talk 605 game ...i was at the practice today, i seen some good talent.but i was really surprised on santa fe's romeo pullum attitude really stinks this guy is going to play for washinton state "wow" this guy going to get a reality check up there. someone needs to tell him to shut it and catch some balls..
also angel molina looked pretty rusty..
other then that the coaches had a good 1st day practice.and as they head on to day 2 i hear its going to be full gear...
so murray is any one going to plan on going out there and covering this..

When its all said and done, the ranch will sit atop the Del Rio league, take it to the bank. The wing-t is coming along nicely. I'm ready to see how the full team looks on Monday in the first day of spring ball. That freshmen QB at SF has size, but he made some questionable plays last year against ER. ER's Josh Perea looked more impressive last season, Perea will be the best QB in the del rio league in a couple of years and might get the nod at QB this season for ER. I sense that the upcoming sophomores are going to make a huge impact, especially Brian Turner and Adrian Sanchez.

GIVE THE RANCH A CHANCE NEW BLOOD COMING IN.

i don't understand why you (Murray) say that you listed these schools in "no particular order" when for Whittier you state: "probably should be listed higher.." I believe that it's very early to post ranks or summaries of teams in the area but hell it's fun to talk about it all the same.

I hope Montebello gets off to something this year, after last year like El Rancho there is only one way and thats up.
