Area teams acknowledged in CIF-SS preseason polls
Area teams dominate the Southeast Division in CIF Southern Section
preseason football polls released Tuesday.
Defending Freeway League champion Troy is ranked No. 1 in the Southeast
Division, but is followed by Santa Fe (2), Schurr (3), La Serna (4) and
California (5).
La Habra is No. 9, perhaps a bit lower than than expected in some
circles of faithful who had expected Highlanders to get recognition among at least the top
five.
Cantwell Sacred Heart of Mary and St. Paul are ranked No. 6 in the
Mid-Valley and Western divisions, respectively.
Whittier Christian is among others receiving votes in the Northeast
Division, as is Whittier in the Southeast Division.
La Mirada is among others receiving votes in the Southwest Division,
but could be the division's sleeper.

La Mirada is a sleeper, I believe they are one of the top teams in the area. With good size at line and a really good run game they are going to do some damage this year.
Schurr was a great team last year, proberly not good enough to do what they accomplished, but 13 of their last year starters are gone, 3 of which started both ways. That means they have to fill 16 spots. I feel putting kids in that have hardly any varsity experince puts them at a disadvantage. By saying all that, I highly believe that Schurr High School is OVERRATED! Did I mention they lost Rudy Jordan who was a star, but not among the starters!

that was last year. it's a whole new year man. and another thing, schurr is not the 'defending CIF champs.' they don't defend the CIF championship if it is up for grabs every year.
Did Schurr no beat La Habra in last years playoffs? Remember Schurr is the defending CIF champion.
I also agree with oiler, but he shouldn't be the one saying anything considering they'll be one the worth teams in their league right above Mark Keppel.
i have to agree with oilers with his second statement, La Habra should be ranked higher than number 9.
Hey I'm a huge backer of La Serna football but i feel that having them at 4, is too high. I would love to see them do well, but I want to see them prove it before i hand out the number 4 spot. also for the amount of press coverage that La Habra is getting they should be higher. over maybe they are getting too much press?
