DRL title: Can a team lose two and still win it?

La Serna's Rudy Jordan reaches for extra yards under an El Rancho pile of defender
La Serna's impressive 38-18 victory over El Rancho Thursday night illuminates the need for Del Rio League teams to avoid losing.
It begs the question: Can a team lose two league games and still win the league championship?
The first reation is probably not, at least not outright. A two-loss team might manage a share of the title.
But then the reality of the league's balance sets in, and it might be feasible.
It seems more likely that two teams might tie with a single loss.
Unless ...

Well... League Parity,
An educated guess is that DRL will send Cal, La Serna and Whittier. If DRL is to get an At-Large spot the only candidate I see is Pioneer but they are going to have to dig deep and win over Santa Fe and El Rancho, because it's unlikely they will close the season with a win over La Serna. Still, that would give them a 6-4 overall which may be good enough given the status in the rest of the Division.
Murray,
Check out the OC Varsity.com (OC Register Prep page) website. The writer's have La Habra ranked #10 on the O.C.
Will that put a target on their back?
La Serna, Whittier and Cal will be the three del rio league playoff teams. With Pioneer with a shot at the at-large bid if they can win at least one game in league due to their 4-1 non league schedule.
Navarro,
Your comment about the Southeast Division, regarding La Habra 'getting bumped', may be correct. However, it seems as though La Habra is on a mission to avenge last year's defeats. They're not taking anyone lightly. Division play-offs will be interesting.
Will the DRL send four teams to the play-offs again? If so, which teams do you think will go?
Anon may be right that La Habra is the best in the area, but not by much. I'll grant that they and Troy would compete in the Del Rio league, but Cal, LS and Whittier would compete well in the Freeway league as well. Pretty good parity here locally, it appears.
It's a good bet that the winner of the La Serna, Cal game will go 5-0 in DRL and stand alone at the top. If it's Cal the Condors will go into the playoffs unblemished.
As for the Division ... anything is possible, even La Habra getting bumped off. There is a reason why a football isn't round.
There is no way a two loss team deserves a league title. If that is the case, then this is one weak division. Strike that....this is a weak division with the exception of Cal. Let's write about La Habra, the best team in the area. Anyone disagree? Write with your head not your heart and you will see that La Habra is tops. If you want to stick with your guns and wirte drl this and drl that, go ahead you make us laugh.
The winner of the del rio league title will not have two losses. They may not even have one. I think that the balance in the league is overated. I was at the La Serna vs. El Ranco game and watched La Serna dominate. I watched the Whittier vs. Pioneer game and saw Whittier dominate. The title is now between three teams La Serna, Cal Hi, and Whittier. With Whittier having the obvious disadvantage of losing to La Serna already. La Serna and Cal Hi are in the drivers seat. But I don't think the league is as balanced as people think. By the way Whittier's running backs were unbelievable last night as they have been in every game this year. The best running backs in the league.
