Ladies, Gents, time to chill. At least a little.
Yo, good folks, it is time to step back and take a deep breath.
This blog is meant to be a source for exchanging ideas and opinions,
an opportunity for creating dialogue with others who share same or
different interests.
It is understandable there will be issues about which some
participants will harbor more interest than others and be more vocal in
expressing it.
There will be some whose passion for a subject is greater than
others, causing them to be more direct with their language as they
communicate their feelings.
Many who post comments participate just to inform or to be informed,
and there are those whose involvement is meant merely to enjoy the
online experience.
It is natural to use the blog for sparring with others who express
opinions perhaps at the end of the spectrum opposite from your's. But
sparring is one thing, attacking is something else.
It is becoming more apparent lately that many of the posts are based
upon personal agendas, and that the subject matter is merely an
opportunity to get something off one's chest.
Even that is OK so long as the post doesn't become a personal,
vitriolic attack on someone. Name calling and offensive, off-color
language, often seemingly used for emphasis, doesn't fit the bill.
It would be nice if everyone would agree to disagree, and then do so
sans the vindictive overtones.
Just a suggestion.
Sort of.

Roger,
YOU STILL DIDN'T ANSWER MY QUESTION ABOUT THE STATS IN THE PAPER. WHATS UP!
My last post was Oct 18, @10:00
Good call. Just sit back and enjoy the game.
Tonights game ER vs LS should be a good one.I would have to believe a Ranch win places them in the area and division standings as well as validating them as legit pick to take DRL. Of coarse a loss could very well set them back.If the defense can continue to play with the intensity displayed in the SFS overtime they will be a force to reckon with.
Good Call Roger. I always laugh at what people will say on these sites but would never have the guts to say it face to face. It is like driving a car, someone cuts you off and you have 15 seconds of expletives going on. If that happened in the grocery store and it does, you get, No worries.
Yo, the Fan:
Based on what appears to be steady improvement by the Lancers, and concern over the Dons' inconsistency in playing four quarters, I'm going with La Serna.
Hey Murray,
Who did you pick to win tonight's game btween La Serna and El Rancho?
Well I think this year in the DRL it is all up for grabs. This has been an exciting season so far for all the teams especialy for the Ranch. It was not a fluk that they beat Santa Fe they played their harts out that night and they left it all on the field the players showed a lot of class that night i am very proud of them. They may not have the best talent in the league but they play hard and don't quit i think they proved it last week. This season is going to be good I can't wait to see who is going to finish on top at the end. I think it is going to be some one that nobody expected. Well good luck to all the teams in the league and GOOD LUCK EL RANCHO !!!!!!!!!!
Roger,
I have a couple questions, first why didn't you choose a pick for tonights game between La Serna and El Rancho? Who do you think is going to win?
And second, why aren't their stats of all the area teams in the paper weekly? I've been around the DRL for a long time and I know the kids are excited to always see their name and stats in the paper, and usually they are always posted on Tuesday. I know you might rely on maxpreps, but not all teams and coaches put up their stats, so it always leaves you guessing - and their not always accurate. That was always a good trait of you guys at the WDN. Bring it back!
Roger, what I don't understand is why do people feel the need to use your Blog as media for "bashing?"
All the personal attacks towards individual players must stop, plain and simple. We should be using this Blog as a vehicle to exchange ideas and actually be adults and promote the best sport around Football!
From my vantage point, this season brings about the most level playing field that the DRL has seen in a long time...parity is good. The players are playing and the Coaches are coaching, just let them do their thing. It's ridiculous to open up the Blog and to have to see the rhetoric that's going on.
Let's drop all of this bantering and get ready for this season. One thing we can all agree on, and that is; that football brings us all together on this Blog! So let's get back to watching, appreciating, and most of all...enjoying what the DRL has to offer.
Hey Murray,
How does the Del Rio League decide who is playing on Thursday vs Friday? I understand that it is a function of three teams that have the same home field(Cal,Whittier,LS)and home vs away scheduling but at the end does it come down to a coin flip?
You hit it on the head Mr Murray!
Thanks.
Good Luck to La Serna tonight...
To all the players, play hard, have fun and be safe.
Well said
heheh... boys do get passionate about their football dont they?
Good points. Civility is part of being an adult.
hey murray,
As a sports reporter would you know if DRL as an organization has a league office? If so I'd like to contact them.
reply can be sent to dnav@tampabay.rr.com or over at http://pioneer-hs.com/drl
Looking to expand that website with some DRL history.
thanks,
Dave
Roger, please...You "host" a blog, you allow the posts. Crap comes out from posters constantly, and you still allow them. Now you tell everybody to 'chill'??? You are in charge of the blog...BE RESPONSIBLE and delete all of the offensive crap that goes through it instead of asking people to play nice. YOU are in charge...Deal with it, or don't host a blog!!!
A sign of the times, Roger. The blog format makes quick, heated exchanges possible. Then, with the trash-talking models in pro and college football and other sports over the past 20 years or so, and in the mainstream media overall (Jerry Springer, etc), many current fans get caught up in the emotion of the give and take of opinions regarding sports, and- boom!- the dialog blows up into the trash talking. It is okay to a point, but I bet I speak for a lot of readers when I say enough of criticising or belittling players by name, and the same with the overboard criticism of certain coaches or programs.
Sports at the high school level? Are you kidding me? It is life's desert! We're blessed to be here to be a part of it. Why be angry? Thanks for the sanity check, Roger.
In case I was one of the persons attacking someone else, I did it in response to that persons attacking 2 of our boys calling them rejects. Im all for a good clean trash talk between two teams as long as kids dont get called out or attacked.
Here Here....Lets the boys play.....
