In case you occasionally program on using the internet browser that isn't an issue, but when you??? re planning to browse the internet alot from your PMP then the iPod is much larger display screen and improved browser may perhaps be essential.

EL RANCHO WHAT??? all you haters! BOO YAH SUCKAS! THE TITANS!
Sound familiar Mugg???
hs football fan,
Santa Fe can only get in if they beat Whittier, Pioneer wins and then Santa Fe wins a three way coin toss between them, El Ranhco and Pioneer
AHAHHA thats some education at SF!! i think north park middle school has a better education program! HA! c ya, stop postin my friend! and i cant believe el rancho and cal is the game of the week! wow waiting for that the whole season! THANKS!
reality,
My fault, I knew i messed that one up about Whittier and Sonora...
You really were detailed in your explanation except you forgot to mention if SF beats Whittier (which will be a great game) they are in also...
WOW! ANY GIVEN FRIDAY! Look how competitive the Del Rio League is. Whittier is still a team to be wreckend with! We CARDINALS may need a little help but we need to just not worry about that and take care of BUSINESS! Coach and his staff are doing an excellent job at still keeping the kids focused at the task at hand. For all you CARDINALS reading this don't panic just remember that you kids play the game and your coaches are doing there best to put you in a position to WIN, but it's all on you at the end of the day to take the game plan and EXECUTE it on the field. If at the end of the game you can look in the mirror and say that you gave a 110% and left it all out on the field then that's acceptable, but if you can't do that then DON"T PUT ON THAT UNIFORM! Your coaches are committed to you! Stay the course and continue to do your best. You have your backs against the WALL but the FIGHT of the CARDINAL is strong enough to overcome any adversity!
FIGHT ON!
DeVaughn Egans "92
by the way, sonora is probably going to end up 5-4, which is not a better record than 7-3
HS Football Fan
here is how the wild card race stands
Whittier - @ 7-3 (if they win), the most likely Wild Card team, however, even if Whittier wins, they still need help.
If Alhambra loses and Montebello wins (highly unlikely, then Alhambra is also looking @ 4th place @ 7-3 and then it's a toss up. I would say that Alhambra would get the nod though because of Whittier's forfeit win.
If Whittier loses and Ocean View also loses both team would be 6-4, but Whittier would be a fifth place team and that would be trumped by Ocean View's 4th place finish. But wait a second, Ocean View would also end up in 5th place if Segerstrom beats Saddleback which would leave the playoff spot to Sonora. Of course, the Alhambra scenario would still be in play.
Cal Fan,
True Cal is returning some talent as well, they should compete hard next year in defense of their crown...especially with #5 returning and #51 on defense...good luck in the playoffs.
C where U R in 6 years,
Please check your math before you make SF look bad with foolish comments...I understand that you are upset at all other schools relishing in the fact that SF is doing bad this year...you dont need to remind anyone that SF won 30 straight league games, 6 straight DRL titles, and 10 overall...everyone knows that, and thats why everyone guns for SF every year...next year they are returning alot of talent, they will have a better year next year...but hopefully the seniors rally up the underclassmen this weekend and beat Whittier and make playoffs...Schurr proved last year that anything can happen if you are in.
SpartanAlum86,
Funny how you know all these things about everyone. Did you play at Schurr? Or were you grabbing pine for 4 years? Im pretty sure that if you revealed yourself I might know you.
1x5=5
2x5=10
3x5=15
4x5=20
5x5=25
6x5=30
7x5=35
just trying to help..
c ya in 4,5,6,7 whatever! years
C where U R in 6yrs...
What's 5x5?...
Now what's 5x6?...
So if 5x5 is 25!
then 25+5=30!!
Looking forward for this week's games between schurr and alhambra, and the el rancho/cal game...
upon reviewing your posts c ya, a better choice of words would have been "defending your team's honor," not making fun of people, because that you havn't, so I take that back. My bad.
hahaha!!!
c ya in 6-
sorry buddy, but 6x5 is 30 where I come from...its 30 in the morning and in the night time... SEVEN times 5 is 35. Stick to making fun of people, not throwing smarts around.
Thanks
C where U R in 6yrs...
Dude you are a f'n moron, 6x5 = 35???
What the heck are they teaching you these days, only an idiot would think 6x5=35
I dont even know why im replying to you, anyone who thinks 6x5=35 should just be ignored completely.
Losing to Pioneer doesnt taint anything, we're going to the playoffs, when we were picked to go winless in league, whereas 2.. perhaps 3 other teams in this league got all the hype and they wont be going to the playoffs.
Please pay attention in class, you need all the help you can get, if you think 6x5=35 good luck in life man....
elrancho - Let me add to your joy for the season. It was a 35 game win streak. Do the math 6years x 5 league games a years = 35. I’m sure many would agree that ER’s loss to Pioneer just might have tainted their victory over SF. But then again they were the first to do it. Or was it Cal with their “on the field victory” last year. Either way it should make for a nice patch for the boys jackets!!!
Once again…..C where U R in 6yrs.
Mystc – So who does SF usually play on the off years when Pioneer is an away game for them????????
hsfootballfan
We will be losing some key players from our team no doubt. We do have some very good juniors that hopefully will be returning. I will take #5 Urquiza over any back in the DRL next year. The kid is a gamer & runs hard. #51 Avila is the best linebacker in the league (LS #44 is right there) & #54 Rojas has stepped up big this year.
You know SP will be making a run at these guys (and do nothing with them), but we hope they will return & get Cal going for another strong year.
elrancho,
let me make your season, so you ended the streak, AGAINST THE WORST SF team in a decade, good for you, too bad bad it didnt come against the one of the better teams. and Pioneer beat you...so....but honestly ER has had a great year, they have made a great turnaround and should be in a battle with SF (Turner returns)and Whittier (has 1 of there stud Rb's returning) for the league title next year...Cal losing most of their players, and LS will not be this good next year.
C where u r in 6yrs,
tell us again who ended your 30 game winning streak??
SF has always played a DRL team for their homecoming... usually it was the Titans! because they were usually the doormat in the league back then!
reality,
If SF beats Whittier they might get in as the wild card, thus eliminating Pioneer. if whittier wins they might get in as the wild card...Pioneer only has a chance IF they beat La Serna, and that IS NOT going to happen so you can count Pioneer out...and the DRL might not get the at large berth this year...Sonora and Fullerton are the 3rd and 4th place teams in the Freeway League, they both have better overall records than SF and Whittier and will probably finish with better respective league schedules...they also have the best two team in the division in La Habra and Troy in their own league...I wouldnt count SF and Whitter out just yet but chances look very slim for postseason aspirations
T-TIME
I NEVER SEEN YOUR NAME IN THIS BLOG, I GUESS KNOW THAT THE TITAN'S FINALLY WON 1 THAT'S RIGHT ONE GAME IN LEAGUE YOU OPEN YOU MOUTH DON'T KEEP IT OPENED TO LONG THE FLY'S WILL GET IN.
schurr should have beat BG 34-14....they fumble on the one yard line going in....then they give up a 99 yard kickoff return...then they fumble on the 1 yard line coming out....instead of leading 28-14 they go down 21-20 in less than 2 minutes...they really need to get it togther or they will get worked in the playooffs
To Big Red Machine:
Cantwell had their chance to show how good they were when they used to play Schurr in pre-season. Schurr used to kill them. Cantwell was just a well-coached version of Keppel. While I know the program has made strides in recent years, lets not get crazy. String a couple of years of success together, win a couple of league championships, then do well in CIF and maybe we can talk.
would anyone else want to see the possible first round match up La Serna vs. Schurr. it would be a great game for both schools and the area. putting one of the areas best players (Jordan) againist this former teammates and friends over at Schurr. Hopefully CIF Pairs them in the first round, it would be a awesome matchup
Mystcphantom - Why would you shake your head at SF for adding Edison to their schedule? You talk about the game they got their butts handed to them but were you at the first game played between the two teams? I was and trust me when I say that the D1 Edison narrowly escaped with a 13-6 victory over D7 Santa Fe. So you see the game you talk about was actually a pay back for the previous year when they found themselves in a dogfight in a game probably thought to be a walk through on their preseason schedule.
Proud LS Alum – Enlighten me, exactly whom should we have picked for Homecoming? Don’t many DRL teams play each other for homecoming games? Maybe that’s the way LS picks their HC games but that’s not case at SF!
Congrats to Cal and La Serna this year for success this year. And El Rancho, let see you beat SF in overtime only to turn around to get beat by Pioneer who SF smashed. Tell us again how great you are again?????????
Whittier probably has to hop for the wild card. To get in as 3 then pioneer has to win and then Whittier has to win a coin toss. However, if Whittier does win, they are probably the wild card and will be thrown to Troy in the first round....FUN GAME!!!!
HS football,
The only way Santa Fe makes the playoffs is if they beat Whittier and then only if Pioneer beats La Serna and then they win a coin toss with Pioneer and El Rancho.
As for El Rancho being done, they are actually pretty much assured the number three spot in the DRl, the only way they won't get in is if Pioneer beats La Serna and then they lose the coin toss

Let see here, we went 0-10 last season, and had a big chance for a league title that we threw away last night, here we are sitting with a 3rd place in the Del Rio league, how many people expected ER to be here, probably no one, but here we are. We are going to the playoffs while Pioneer hasnt made it to the playoffs since 2002. We are a young team that has done well considering no one expected it. Marcus Aldecoa has arrived, 22 carries for 215 yards, 3td's, lookout for him the rest of the season and next season. This program is just getting started, whether you want to believe it or not ER will be on top soon, we had our shot this season but we didnt take advantage. Good luck pioneer, maybe you will make it to the playoffs next year.
Herrington will own Lil Petey G for as long he is there. See what happens when SP faces a quality coaching staff? They took it on the chin hard last night.Ouch!
Ok so just to see how everyone feels just to stir up some fun on the message boards since i think whittier, la mirada, and norwalk and i mean the citys are close enough they should have there own league i would like to compare the Del Rio League to the Suburban and i would like to hear everyones take on this:
Del Rio
1.CalHi 4-0*
2.LaSerna 3-1*
3.El Rancho 2-2
4.Santa Fe 1-3
5.Whittier 1-3
6.Pioneer 1-3
Suburban
1.Mayfair
2.Bellflower
3&4.La Mirada, Artesia, Norwalk
5.Cerritos
6.John Glenn
whoa whoa t-time. your passing yourself by. pioneer is done(period) never had a chance in league at all. you guys beat ER WOW! well actually im in shock btw, should never happen but it did. i loved them plays you guys did, the tebow play and all them screen plays. its okay its a cat mouse thing over there. two years in a row i guess. but thats it my friend!
WHERE ARE YOU EL rANCHO??????????HAHAHAHA YOU PROVED ALL THE DOUBTERS WRONG. YOU JUST PROVED YOURSLEF WRONG. IF BEING 500 IS A SUCCESS THEN THE RANCH IS REALLY MESSED UP. ONCE AGAIN EL RANCHO PROVES THEY DONT STAND A CHANCE AND THEY ARE NOT BACK. NOW DONT GO TALKING ABOUT HOW THINGS ARE SET UP FOR NEXT YEAR AND THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT. EL RANCHO WILL NEVER BE BETTER THAN A SUB PAR 500 TEAM
Big Red Machine,
I will be the first to acknowledg that you have a fine football program starting at Cantwell. What bothers me is when you come on these boards and fabricate stories. Cantwell was swept on all levels by SP including freshman. The Loyola and Amat games were reserve games. I know several kids that play for Cantwell and are going to check out either at the end of the year or during Christmas break. I hold in my pocession an envelope that promises financial assistance or scholarships. Cantwell isnt keeping their promises and losing alot of kids. Dont come on here making pathetic analogies on since the Verb beat Whittier we beat the Verb so we beat Whittier, that alone shows your knowledge of the game. Loyolas frosh and Amats frosh would destroy Cantwell because SP tied Amats frosh, I dont think so. Stop making assumptions it is ridiculous. Good Luck all area teams.
Lets's see, Verbum Dei defeated Whittier 10-7, and Cantwell defeated Verb 34-0. Cantwell would probably defeat El Rancho and Pioneer and be competitive with the rest of the DRL teams. So whoever said Cantwell could not compete in the DRL better think twice. P.S. take a look at Cantwell's lower level teams and the future is very bright. The J.V. and Frosh teams hold impressive victories over Bishop Amat, Loyola, St Paul(frosh only)Temple City, Burroughs and Oak Park to name a few.
The SF game was lost by the coaches! make no mistake about it! The kids have heart, the coaches dont!! could not happen to a nicer group of coaches!! The coaching staff let down the SF boys!! I feel bad for the players but the coaches ( Jack & Jeff ) get what they deserve
Thanks Shaw for ANOTHER year of No playoffs football.
Hey Schwartz you're Montebello Alumni,Where's all the "Greatness of Oiler Football?" What's that, it never existed..
Fire all the varsity coaches, and bring up the lower coaches, at least they win league, but as soon as the kids get to varsity, they can't win(hmmmmmm...)
Better yet spare the students of MHS another embarrassing year and FIRE SHAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some upsets this week...
First,
Alemany over St. Paul
St. Paul got OUTCOACHED OUTCOACHED OUTCOACHED
No one that I have seen works harder than St. Paul coaches, but when comes to Friday night it seems like all that work for nothing. The Offensive play-calling wont even win in Pee Wee Football. Its almost like Alemany knew what was coming every play, maybe bc St. Paul has been calling the same run plays and same couple of pass plays all year, out of the same formations. You cant do that in the Mission league bc every game is tough. Hopefully the offensive staff shows a lil creativity next week against St. Francis bc that game is for the league title and one of the two playoff berths. No more 3 and outs, give your defense a chance to rest.
Proud LS Alum, dont you feel proud that LS finally beat SF after 9 straight loses, too bad you weren't on the team this year.
LS over SF
LS wanted it more, they came to win and win big they did. SF played almost as if they were looking forward to next year, well they better not play like that next week bc with a win they can still get in the playoffs. 2 wins in the DRL gets you 3rd place or the at-large. So that leaves all teams still alive for a playoff berth.
Cal over Whittier
Cal has locked up at least a share of title and will probably win next week against El Rancho to win it outright. For Whittier its simple...win next week and your in.
Pioneer over ER
What happened???? Pioneer played a huge spoiler in ER season. ER can still sneak into the playoffs even with a loss to Cal next week, since they beat SF and Whittier that pretty much locks up 3rd place in the DRL and an automatic bid. great game by Pioneer.
EL RANCHO FANS WHAT NOW!!!
Will all you people grow up! The kids (players) whom play for the coach are the result of being born. The started school at age 5 and by the time they were high school age. They selected the high school to learn an education at and maybe play sport or two, if eligible. Most kids go to the school that is decided by the attendance boundary. Btw, some don't! If he attends the school and desires to plays the sport for the coach, who is hired by the school, then he must be his player. Sounds simple? Not to some! Are they Ancich's or Arnold, how about Beltron or La Vigne.
Stop the second guessing and root for the class of 2008. And if the class of 2011 is good, who's are they now???
PIONEER 31, el rancho 28! Hey don's nice timekeeper! Even cheating didn't work! Hey [el rancho], how about those two Pioneer backs? SCOREBOARD BABY! Hey [stetement]PFFFFT, You heard it here first,28 points just not enough, and [nameless]you now can go back to the timekeeper box. Oh let's not forget [blueblood]not only does el rancho lose at home, but lose at home on homecoming! el rancho YOU'RE DONE! You heard it here first, next friday, CAL HI ALOT el rancho 0!
I made a mistake,
If Whittier loses to Santa Fe, they had better root like hell for Ocean View to beat Orange. If Whittier loses and Ocean View loses, Whittier could be out because Ocean View will be a legit 6-4 while Whittier will have one win by forfeit.
Mission Valley
1SouthElMonte 4-0*
2Rosemead 2-2
3Arroyo 2-2
4ElMonte 2-2
If El Monte wins, it's a mess, if not Arroyo is 3 and Rosemead is 2
Freeway
1LaHabra 3-0*
2Troy 2-1
3Fullerton 2-1
4Sonora 2-1
This league is pretty much settled with 1,2 and 3 Sonora has an outside chance at the wild card or
Goldenwest
1Westminster 4-0*
2SantaAna 3-1*
3Orange 2-2
4OceanView 2-2
Westminster and Santa will play for the league title. Ocean View and Orange will battle for the other playoff spot. If Westminster and Ocean View both win, 1Westminster, 2Ocean View, 3Santa Ana.
If Westminster and Orange win, the Santa Ana is 2 and Orange 3. If Santa Ana beats Westminster, they are the champs and the winner of the Orange/Ocean View game is 3
Del Rio
1CalHi 4-0*
2LaSerna 3-1*
3El Rancho 2-2
4Santa Fe 1-3
5Whittier 1-3
6Pioneer 1-3
where do I start?
Cal High has clinched the league title and will be a seeded team. La Serna has clinched the 2nd place spot. As for third place, anything can happen, but the most important game seems to be Santa Fe/Whittier. If Santa Fe wins, then El Rancho goes as the third place team and Whittier will be the wild card. If Whittier wins then they go as the wild card anyways, but if both Whittier and Pioneer win, then Whittier is the third place team and the wild card probably ends up being Sonora or Bell Gardens. All that needs to happen for El Rancho to clinch a playoff spot is for Pioneer to lose.
League by League Playoff Picture
Almont
1Alhambra 3-1*
2San Gabriel 3-1*
3Schurr 3-1*
San Gabriel will beat keppel so they will be 4-1
If Schurr beats Alhambra,
San Gabriel is the league champ, Schurr is 2 and Alhambra is 3
If Alhambra beats Schurr then Alhambra is the league champ San Gabriel is 2 and Schurr is 3
SE scout, your bracketts are still way off. It would be impossible to do it that way. Not to mention half the records on there would be impossible because alot of those teams play each other
here is a list of teams still with a chance * denotes clinched a playoff berth
Almont

2San Gabriel 3-1*
3Schurr 3-1*

SE Scout, those pairings are not possible, teams from the same league cannot play eachother in the 2nd round, they could only play against eachother in the semis or the finals.
so much for SF making their game their homecoming game. they did not stand a chance against our defense and our offense. They didn't really know what to do when they saw what we did on offense.
Just got back from the LS vs. SF game, and I must say... LS dominated from start to finish. This SF team is NOT the team of the past 6 years...but remember, this is NOT the same LS team of the past... the LS kids were ferocious on both sides of the ball...SF looked overmatched and lazy. No team should EVER come out as flat as they did, ESPECIALLY on homecoming...so much for picking the easiest school for your homecoming, huh? Not sure if SF realized this, but when you pick a DRL team for your homecoming, you send an indirect and very disrespectful message to them, and they take it personal.
BTW, #49 Zeid played the game of his life. The kid is a force to be reckoned with...Congrats to Coach Beltran (my LB coach '03 & '04) for a well prepared game plan, and a huge shout-out to my fellow #49...reppin' my jersey like a true beast...
Schurr beat BG 27-21 in a good game. Almont is still wide open.
Santa Fe used to play St Paul... but after the fight that occured they stopped the rival game! last time Santa Fe played a good team, Edison handed them their butts... i just shook my head when i saw them putting Edison on their schedule!

Your statement and corroboration, respectively, that today's California High School football players are departed coach Dusan Ancich's players and not current coach Jim Arnold's is tragically flawed.
Surely you can't mean their performances this season are the result of Ancich's coaching.
A year ago, yes. And this season, perhaps there is limited residual impact from Ancich's leadership in terms of a fundamental here and an attitude there.
But Ancich is no longer coaching at California, and while the players might have been considered his while he was there, make no mistake, they are Arnold's now.
Deal with it.
Ancich was an outstanding Xs and Os coach, and he did a fine job of restructuring the program and reestablishing the relationship between students and faculity and football. But he's gone, and the school and the community and most of all, the players, should be happy, no,
ecstatic, it is Arnold who replaced him.
To think anything else is pure folly. Even more important, it is a disservice to an outstanding young coach, who, by the way, as of this moment, has led your program to eight victories in as many tries.
Sorry,I made a mistake by putting CAL and ER together in the 1st RD.
*POSSIBILITIES:
-If El Rancho wins Pioneer and California,Santa Fe wins the next two games versus La Serna and Whittier;Whittier will be out of the playoffs because El Rancho and California would be co-champions,Santa Fe would be in and tie for third with La Serna. At large bid would not be available. Therefore, these would be the CIFSSSE playoff seedings. Many exciting games will occur and upsets as well.

I think anyone who knows football can start with both lines & see improvements.
Arnold had them in the Semifinals as the D-coordinator & now eyeing the DRL title & undefeated. How many DRL titles did Dusan have?
Who would win between Cantwell and El Rancho?
I saw both teams this year and I must say that Cantwell would win that matchup.
First, Cantwell is more athletic than El Rancho.
Second, Cantwell is more physical.
Third, and most important is because I went to Cantwell!!! lol...
Good Luck to all the schools this weekend.
we'll be your waterboys but you will always be st. pauls waterboys. at least we had the guts to play them. GO CARDS
I have to agree that at Cal Hi the players on the field are Dusans not Arnolds. I am wondering Murray and others if as you say offense wins games and defense wins championships.. then why I dont read good things about the defense at Cal? Other than they dont let the other team score? How about individual players?? I am SO, SO, SO tired of hearing about Drew, he trully is NOT the only kid on the field, lots of other kids are playing hard and being respectful, or is it like on televion? only the crap sells???? I am looking forward to the rest of the season and to the play offs!! Condor parents be proud of your kids, Boys,Play hard, play safe and play honest!!!

Obviously you didnt see what happen after the AMAT game. We played the #8 team in the state dead even and other than our mistakes we had them beat. Im sure they thought it was a week off, but our gutty swordsmen played hard once again and unfortuneately fell short. Has a DRL tream ever dared to play a DIV 1 state ranked school? I think not. So who has a little weak league. Step outside the cozy confines of your WEAK DRL and lets play some football. Until then like i said before the only ones that can talk is ER. They played us and have right to talk. All you other DRL teams got no sacks. As far as your charity game. It will never happen cuz your first place DRL team is cowardess. Just send us ER , there the only ones with a set. Even Cantwell and La Mirada gave us a call. If you need the number ask ER or Cantwell or La Mirada. C'mon put up or shut up. Im sick of the DRL teams comparing themselves to SP. There is no comparison. In work ethic or dedication or team pride. SP is the TEAM OF THE AREA. Until you play us, you are only second best.

Where did you get that Cal was beating their chest? We haven't won anything yet, I agree. If we win a CIF championship, then we will.
I agree with your opinion regarding Troy & La Habra, they are the class of the division. Anything can happen though, I hope we get a chance. Tonight I believe could be dangerous & anything can happen in all 3 games.
Hi, in reference to Cantwell football, traditionally, we have never been a powerhouse in football, we have some great teams in the past, but due to size of program, and league, it has changed quite a bit in the last 30 years, (I am a Cantwell alum, my son is a Whittier grad), in the 60's, we were in the same league as St.Paul, and Mater Dei.(Angelus League). In the 70's, we played against Loyola, Crespi, Notre Dame, St. Francis, to name a few(Del Rey League). My soph. year(74-75) we won only 1 game, we were an independent during my junior year, and then my senior year(77), we played in the Camino Real League,(Alemany, St. Bernards, Bishop Montgomery, Serra, to name a few). Cantwell has a some really good football teams, a gentleman refer to the 78'team, which was very good, that team went to playoffs, and lost to a very good antelope valley team by a score of 3-0,(by the way Vernon Maxwell played for Verbum Dei)I think that they are doing excellent in the division that they are in. but times have changed, and the reality is, some programs have gotten stronger over the years. Cantwell problems with it's programs, there is no consisnt coaching, but the last couple of years, they are getting better, as far the level is concern, it is still not there yet, Here is 1 trivia fact, there is a lot of Cantwell Alums coaching at other schools, Coach Gonzales at St. Paul is a Cantwell alum, I have friends who are coaches at Loyola, Harvard Westlake, to name a few. My cousins are El Rancho Grads from the 70's, so I used to take all kinds of razzing from them about their football teams, the same is true for St. Paul, I would never razzed them about their teams, knowing how good their teams were. The gentleman who post's his comments about Cantwell, is just praising his team, but if he wants to know the history of Cantwell football, he should talk to me, anyway, it has been a great year for area football.
once again you people talk of how the area teams are so good and how the rb's at the nerby area school could hang with the st. paul backs. I also love to hear how Cal can hang with us. Get a life and go to a Saint Paul game and see how football is really played. Well as for me i just cant wait till playoffs come by and one by one the area teams will fall and one by one you guys will be showing up to the st. paul games like you did last year.
Cal Fan,
What does Cal have to beat their chest about??? Cal has only had 2 respectable years in the last 20...this year and in 2000...and last year is not too respectable since your "one man" team Grigsby was a St. Paul tranfer, without him Cal would have finished a far 2nd, 3rd, or 4th in DRL as usual
To Anonymous:Do you think Cantwell can win in the DRL? someone commented the 78 team was special. So what!! antwell, I mean Cantwell can be Be the waterboys for DRL.
Pioneer over ER PFFFFFFT come on you got to be kidding me ER will dominate tomorrow night, this will be their highest scoring game! heard it here first!
If I had to give it a shot right now
Upper Brackett
1La Habra v. Schurr
La Serna v. Arroyo
Westminster v. El Rancho
4Alhambra v. Rosemead
Lower Brackett
2Cal Hi v. Ocean View
South El Monte v. Fullerton
Segerstrom v. San Gabriel
3Troy v. Santa Fe
By the way,
There is no such thing as a "5th seed" using the CIF formula. Second and third place teams are just put in where they fit with no rhyme or reason.
El Rancho's brackett is more reasonable, but honestly, a brackett for this division is pretty much impossible at this moment.
I see the top four seeds as follows
If Alhambra wins out
1. La Habra
2. Cal Hi
3. Alhambra
4. Troy
If Alhambra Loses and La Serna wins out
1. La Habra
2. Cal Hi
3. Alhambra
4. Troy
If both Alhambra and La Serna lose
1. La Habra
2. Cal Hi
3. Troy
4. Westminster
Yes, St. Paul is on a roll in their own little league. If it wasn't for their defense they would definitely go through all their QB's. Their OC is lucky they play teams that are weak. I'll give them Amat but tell me what happened after that game. It's like a great dream followed by a nightmare. Yes, they've won but were they really good wins.
Though, I feel that SP is better than the DRL I really think that even they would give us better competition excluding ER. Wouldn't it be great if there was an exhibition game against SP and the DRL's 1st place team this year. It could be like a charity fundraiser to be donated to the Red Cross to help the Fire victims.
Your brackets are really screwy and would never happen, because
A; First Place teams wont play second place teams
B; Troy will be seeded
C; Teams from the same league can't play each other in the first round
you need to learn the cif Formula
Anonymous,
I'm still laughing that you think Cantwell is better than DRL Teams...well here is a small list of what DRL teams have done
Santa Fe- 10-time DRL Champ including 6 ina row and a 30 game league winning streak, numerous times CIF semi-finalist and a CIF finalist.
ER- National Championship and 3-time CIF champion
Whittier- CIF champion
Cal- league champion and cif semi-finalist.
LS- produced Adam Snyder who now starts in the NFL...
That is just a very very small list...
Cantwell...hmmm only has '78 and that Maxwell guy
So dont compare yourself to the DRL and the DRL WONT compare itself to you bc THERE IS NO COMPARISON!!!
arnold is playin with dushans players!!! see what happens when he gets some players that he has coach all the way through cal hi messed up by getting rid of him!!!
murray can u answer the question why do u dislike el rancho high school
"15)EL RANCHO at 2)CALIFORNIA**"
so i guess we'll see Er vs. Cal two weeks in a row...???????
Stop the playoff predictions
It is way to unclear right now in the DRL, Almont, and Freeway leagues to determine any kind of seedings...what if ER beats PHS and Cal then they tie for DRL title, what if SF beats LS and Whittier, what if there is a 3way tie agian in the Almont league, who knows who will finish in 2nd in the Freeway league???? The only sure thing right now is La Habra will be the favorite and the overall #1 seed and Troy should be the #2 bc they are the second best team in the Southeast Division
there are more questions and the answers will come in the next two weeks on fridays

SE SCOUT: Good predictions. La Habra is definitly the team to beat. But if Cal can go undefeated you have to give them a chance. From what a saw of LH against Schurr last year, they are a very well coached and disiplined team. However , if they have a weak spot it is their O and D lines. Beat them at the point of attack and get to thier QB and they are beatable.
The best recent team Cantwell has ever had was the 78 team.
Remember Vernon Maxwell?
Good luck! the rest of your season.
Heres my predictions for the playoff pairings of course things can always change, but I see them playing out like this. The pairings are not based on a 1-16. I did this using the formula the CIF uses which puts the 1 seed at the top of the top bracket, the 2 seed at the bottom of the lower bracket, the 3 seed at the top of the lower bracket, the 4 seed at the bottom of the top bracket and the 5th seed at the bottom half of the top bracket. Note these are subject to change depending on how the teams finish in their respective leagues.

why do u dislike el rancho so much...and not just football all their sports
SE scout those seem like some good games, but those a couple of those pairings are impossible, teams from the same league cannot play eachother in the first round or the second round, they can only face eachother once they reach the semis or the finals.
El Rancho would not be able to play Cal and Rosemead would not be able to play SEM. That would make up for some great games though.
that was my point in placing Cantwell up there. To show how DRL team supporters think they are better. Just like you won't compare Cantwell to your programs, we won't compare DRL to ST. PAUL or LA HABRA. So keep playing second fiddle to these top notch programs. Just remember this, what has cantwell done? well what has any DRL team done? EXACTLY! nothing

El Rancho should be very proud of their accomplishments thus far. They ended their own 12-game losing streak, ended Santa Fe's 30-game win streak, have a shot to make the playoffs outright tomorrow, and have a shot at the league title with a win tomorrow and the following friday.
No one on these boards would have believed that prior to starting the season. Should El Rancho pull it off, it shows how much bad coaching can affect a program.
I think the mere fact that BIG RED is nowhere to be seen after that win over whittier speaks volumes!!!
Also, with the alumni involved (they have been coming to the games consistently all year, I have seen regulars such as Don Wanlass, Hector Gonzalez, but have seen others such as Judge Franz Miller, Dave Patterson, Charles Licitra, and others from the 60's) this program will no longer be dormant in the Del Rio League. They will not return to those glory teams of the 60's and early 70's, but they will be a playoff team and contender for the league title year in and year out...what more can one expect.
Good luck to the Dons and all DRL teams!
SPALUMFAN,
First of all,St. Paul was SUPPOSED to play El Rancho back in 2004 season when Dwight Tardy,Randall Reynoso, and other good players were on the SP team.Meanwhile,El Rancho's team was loaded with talent that included:Johnny Espinoza,Jonathan Allen,Anthony Mendez,James Valdez,A.J. Toscano,Giovanni Sandoval,Edgar Rodriguez,Paul Armijo,Adrian Arellano,Gary Rico,Richard Torres, and many others.INSTEAD,SP took a week 0 because they knew El Rancho had the capability of beating SP.El Rancho eventually played Orange Lutheran Lancers and El Rancho's defense held OL to only 188 yards and 9 turnovers, but El Rancho threw 5 interceptions that OL capatalized.Yes OL won 36-7,but their coaches went to ER locker room to thank them for a great game.OL became CIF champions that season.SP FINALLY chose to play El Rancho once they knew El Rancho was in a rebuilding program after 2005 season.Get your facts staright son.
ANONYMOUS,
LA HABRA AND ST.PAUL HAS A REALLY GOOD PROGRAM AND TEAM.BUT HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT CANTWELL IS A BETTER TEAM THAN ANY OTHER IN DRL...?YOU CAN TELL YOU PLAYED HS FOOTBALL.SORRY,I MENT YOU RODE BENCH...CANTWELL COULDN'T COMPETE IN WITH DRL.REMEMBER FS ANDRE FLORES?YUP...HE CAME FROM EL RANCHO AND GOT HIS LEADERSHIP FROM THE ROLE MODEL CLASS OF 04-05 SEASON,WHICH INJURIES HURT THE TEAM AND EVENTUALLY ENDED THEIR SEASON AFTER LOSING TO WESTMINSTER 1ST ROUND...FLORES BUILD PLAYERS AROUND HIM AND A GOOD PROGRAM...BUT CANTWELL'S OPPONENTS DO NOT COMPARE TO ANY OF DRL TEAMS,EXCEPT WHITTIER AND PIONEER.
California vs. Whittier
-This game will be won up front. Both teams have a good offensive line and productive runnig backs. If both of the team's running game is stopped, passing game will be a factor.Campos is a far better quarterback than Harris;from machanics to leadership.Cal High 20 Whittier 14
Pioneer vs. El Rancho
-First of all, El Rancho is a far better team than Pioneer; From the coaches to the players.El Rancho proved all critics wrong last week they beat a very good Whittier team,14-8.El Rancho's Hernandez will have a great game including their running attack.Week 10 should be fight against El Rancho and Cal High for the share of the title.El Rancho 34 Pioneer 16
La Serna vs. Santa Fe
-This game will be a great and close game.Santa Fe has a lot to prove especially 6 time defending DRL champs.La Serna's Jordan ability, will show who really is the area's best running back.La Serna's defense will be put up for a test against an unpredictable offense.Black will have a great day.Santa Fe 24 La Serna 14.
Many people doubted El Rancho and overlooked Santa Fe.Do not be surprised if the Chiefs get into CIF playoffs and El Rancho being co-champions of DRL.La Serna falling to third place and Whittier being At Large would also not be surprise.
SPALUMFAN
Again, I going to tell you like I told your other delusional fans.
You get the pick of the area's talent. You are at EVERY level recruiting. Why don't you start with representing the area better than you have in the last 20 years. Once you do THAT, then talk smack against the teams that are in your own division. Your like a big dumb bully talking smack at elementry school trying to fight a 3rd grader. As of right now, you have NOTHING to beat your chest about St. Paul.
Your comments are the exact reason why people dislike your program. Get back into your altar boy suit & give your money to Mahoney, he needs it!
Anonymous,
Cantwell, better than DRL teams!!! you must joking, this blog is for serious comments only, but you know I did get a good laugh at your comment this morning, so thank you I needed that.
cantwell high school, who cares, what have they ever done?? have they won as many league titles as the Ranch? and Sante Fe??
why even bother making predictions. the only games that matter are the la habra, st. paul, cantwell games. DRL isn't up to any of these programs. you read it right. Cantwell. They are much better than your best drl team.
Murray & Campa
It's seems that you two critics have given ER a fighting chance from day one, In your guy's eyes it's just been luck for ER, a Win is a Win just because ER captialize on others mistakes they got lucky I think not, as for the rest of the non belivers you all will eat your words after Friday, ER does not lose at Home.
Campa can't wrote nor can he pick games.
When you other DRL teams decide to play SP then you can talk. ER is the only team with guts to take us on.Your league is a joke and your talent can't compare. I laugh at yoru blogs week in and week out. Little nothing schools. High five ER for taking on SP every year. The rest of your DRL should follow your lead if, if they don't they should shut up
Cal High.
And remember be careful on what you wish for.
elrancho,
the Dons have exceeded many expectations this year, granted most in the area might not repect the Dons right now bc they be a depleted SF team, but you beat a good Whittier team...ER has had a great turnaround this year, and even if you lost the remaining games this would still be consindered a successful season, but the season is not over and you have a chance at a share of the league title, no one would have thought that.
Trust me although you may have not earned the respect of some people you have most def earned respect from most, and now DRL have taken notice that this years Dons squad is for real and is not a push-over, so just do what you have been doing all year and prove everyone wrong on the field
Even after taking down Santa Fe and Whittier we still are not getting picked??? Who do we have to beat in order to get some respect??
Pioneer over ER
It's true. ER beat SF and Whittier. But SF and Whittier were the better teams. In mistake riddled games ER made fewer mistakes. ER's much improved defense stood its ground when it counted. ER was underestimated. ER played with more heart. That's how lesser teams win.
Pioneer is also a better team than ER. The Titan's downfall has been inconsistency and lack of dicipline. Pioneer will win because they must. They know it. Big plays will make the difference.
Santa Fe over La Serna
This game will be decided on attitude. The Chiefs are on an upswing. La Serna is still licking its wounds. Not only will Santa Fe win, they will dominate the game.
California over Whittier
How's that saying go? Offense wins games, defense wins championships. Cal is playing for the DRL Championship. It's that simple.
Good luck to all teams.
Looks like ER still has'nt earned much respect even after some pretty impressive wins. How does SFS get ranked in the top 5 area schools? Yes we all know their past record but thats the PAST.Things will look alot clearer after this week.Who would have ever thought ER actually has a chance to go from WORST to FIRST.
Pioneer over ER???????
Come on Murray you can't even believe that.
Hey Fred J,
It's a lot easier to make picks over on the East side when you've got "elite" teams like Bishop Amat and Damien losing every week. Who's your top team this week-- Western Christian?
St. Paul's Haynes is going to be be running wild, if the coaches let him!!!!
First off, Its funny how SF is still being picked over teams on their worst year and LS is having their best year in recent memory. That is respect for a program if I ever saw one.
My picks this week:
St. Paul over Alemany
This is basically the league championship game for the Mission League. St. Paul is running the ball very effectively, and the offense is finally backing up that SP defense and with Aubrey Haynes nearing full strength they should win in was is going to be battle.
SF over LS
This one is hard to call. SF now has the 3 running backs it was going to have at the beginning of the year. Bomer, Walker and Turner. Remember Bomer ran all over LS last year and SF controlled the clock. That should be the game plan if the Chiefs keep Jordan off the field by controlling the clock they have the advantage.
ER over Pioneer
This one is the hardest one to pick, but i'm gonna go with team that has won a league game...but this game can go either way.
Cal over Whittier
Cal defense wont shut down Whittiers running game but they will keep them off the scoreboard which they have done to everyone. Teams are avg 7 ppg against Cal's defense. Another key is Dont let Harris throw and they should be ok.
WOW!!! Those are some nice picks Roger, especially the ER vs Pioneer game. Do you still not realize that all your hype for the two pioneer backs in the summer has amounted to nothing and pioneer just isnt what you thought they were?? Pioneer over ER..... please. You also picked SF over La Serna.... just wow.....
2-6 Andrew? It's okay, you're still a rookie.
