football fan
I never said anything about winning a cif ring... you just said something with nothing to support what you said... Theirs many reasons why we didn't win the championship being balance is one of them but not the actual reason. We a handful of starters injured for the last playoff game and some of those guys just didn't step up...
Skinnybuffguy,
Rushing for 6,000 yards in 2 years all in the preseason and league don't mean nothing if you can't win the RING! You have to be balanced to win, look at La Habra this year and look at Schurr last year with Jordan there (both teams can run and pass) which = CIF CHAMPS. And like I said before Schurr will never win another CIF Championship.
Good luck to the Whittier area teams. SP, I know you guys get no love, but you don't give any either, however, good luck vs Gahr. Cal Hi is the cockiest team in the area, but when you're 11-1, you kinda have the right to be. LH, lets face it, these guys are untouchable. No weaknesses equals CIF champs. Cal has the best defense in the DRL, but lack a bit on offense. I can't see any team in the division beating LH.
JORDAN!!! whether it's Joe or Rudy; I see this name mentioned more than any other name. Both are great individuals. Joe is definitely someone you want running your offense, and Rudy, is any coaches dream come true, on both sides of the ball. They both have a big shinny ring to prove it. I've read a lot of blogs with nothing bad things said about them. I guess it all stems from jealousy. After all, JORDAN was the biggest name talked about this season. Leading the league in rushing and receiving has to say something. I guarantee Rudy was all opposing coaches biggest fear when facing LS.
Football fan
Well if you think rushing for over 6,000 in two years horrible... then i don't know what a good rushing team is...
and actually... well i gtg I'll continue this later.
CURT MUGG:
REALLY? PLEASE TELL ME THE NAMES OF THESE PLAYERS. WAIT, STOP, LET ME GUESS ROMEO PELLUM, KEITH GAINES, DAMERON FOOKS, ALBERT HERNADEZ, JOHN SANCHEZ, MANUEL LOPEZ, AND EVERY OTHER GREAT SANTA FE PLAYER WHO HAS EVER PLAYED RITE? ITS SO FUNNY HOW SANTA FE IS CONSTANTLY BEING ACCUSED OF THESE ACCUSATIONS WHICH HAVE NEVER BEEN PROVEN. SANTA FE IS A LEGIT PROGRAM WHO HAS BEEN ENVIED BECAUSE OF THEIR SUCCESS IN THE PAST.
AND FOR YOUR NO RECRUITS THIS YEAR COMMENT, THIS WAS A LEARNING AND REBUILDING YEAR FOR THEM. IF YOU NOTICED THERE WAS ONLY 2 STARTERS ON THE DEFENSIVE SIDE OF THE BALL WHO RETURNED THIS YEAR AND 2 MAYBE 3 STARTERS, 1 OF WHICH SHARED TIME FOR LESS THAN HALF OF THE SEASON LAST YEAR, WHO RETUENED. THE OFFENSUVE LINE CONSISTED OF 2 SENIORS AND 3 JUNIORS, WHICH AT MID-SEASON LOST 3 OF THOSE GUYS. SO IN ACTUALITY IT WAS 2 SOPHMORES AND 3 JUNIORS. THE DEFENSIVE LINE ONLY HAD ONE SENIOR THE REST WERE INEXPERIENCED UNDER CLASSMEN BOTH LINEBACKERS WERE FIRST YEAR PLAYERS I CAN GO ON AND ON BUT YOU WILL STILL TRY AND FIND SOMETHING TO NAG ABOUT. SANTA FE HAD A VERY ROUGH SEASON AND NOT JUST ON THE FIELD MANY OF THESE PLAYERS SUFFERED PROBLEMS AT HOME WHICH WERE OUT OF THEIR CONTROL. WHAT WAS SP'S REASON? THE KIDS THEY RECRUITED WERE STILL CONFUSED WITH THE PLAYS THEY HAD LEARNED AT THEIR ORIGINAL SCHOOLS? PLEASE SP IS THEE BIGGEST RECRUITING SCHOOL IN THE AREA ASK ANY PLAYER WHO PLAYED IN THE 605 GAME, WHICH I STARTED IN.
Good Luck St. Paul, hope the defense is able to answer the bell again. Offensively, wish you the best as well, go OL and protect your backfield. Enough of this transfer being the reason why St. Paul is winning, some have helped but trust me if they had not come in others would have stepped in. Everyone fails to realize the senior class (Freshmen class of 2003)is the reason why St. Paul has made the semi-finals two years running, anyone else who says different does not know these boys. Besides, they don't care about what is written, they just keep coming.
i like CAL hi, most of my old coaches are over there thats why i support them. well not really but secretly i do. im happy to see them be in the semi's.
i dont like seeing other teams to prosper but THE RANCH!
First off, to the Almont Fan - everyone one knows that Jordan is deserving of the MVP - their is way to much politics involved - any coach would take Jordan over Avila (who is that by the way) and Palacios (who played only one good game the whole year - against La Serna - thats pathetic) but hey Almont fan JORDAN HAS A RING - and none of these players do. And even if he was at Schurr they don't have enough players to win it this year anyway - its all about La Habra and their wayt too stacked.
Fan Dizzle,
You don't know anything take any high school QB from their team in the semis or finals and see if they win. What if QB from Schurr(Orduno)would have got hurt in the finals - Santa Fe CIF champs. So shut your mouth, and La Habra isn't cocky this year - their on a mission and just two more teams are in their way - end of story.
To Swordsman Alumni Condor Supporter and Calhifan80, the reason all the fans from other schools and areas dislike Cal Hi is because on the field (I'm not saying how they are in the classroom - ON THE FIELD)they are the most cocky and disrespectful players around - they don't show any sportsmanship and talk trash on practically every play. There's one thing to be exicited to play but being disrespectful is another thing and that is what CAL Hi is. And that's the coaches fault.
To Some Random Joe and Jordans are overrated read the blog posted by Looking for football fan. He knows the truth. All Schurr fans and players are happy to be where their at - but guess what they all know deep down in their hearts that the lost of Coach Jordan and Rudy Jordan gives them that doubt - and they wish they were on their side still at Schurr. The only CIF Championships that have gone to Schurr High School have been through Coach Jordan as a player and as a coach. So if they think they can beat La Habra without Jordan their crazy. To the Jordans are overated mark my words - YOU WILL NOT WIN A CIF TITLE - THERE WILL BE NO BACK TO BACK. TRUTH HURTS but hey its the truth. And the reason is that La Habra is healthy and ready.
And one more question for you guys, wasn't Schurr high school prodominately a running team before Jordan got their and he changed the offense. Well when he left why didn't they go back to their horrible running offense??? Just wondering??? But if you guys think their calling great plays - thats cool. I'm just wondering whose plays. Think about it.
Anyways Go Highlanders it's our CIF Title to lose. Lets play sound football and be respectful. Good luck.
Hey Hank
get ready to be spanked we have lots of fans don't hate our our fan support we will dominate calhi in there own house just like last year and the sad thing for you guys this teams is way better than last year
THA61ONER,
How ironic? SF talking about transfers to SP. Ask around the Del Rio and see what they think about SF and transfers. No transfers for SF to turn to this year. Mahlstede is losing his touch.
LOL U LA HABRA FANS MAKE ME LAUGH! ! ! TALENT OVER HEART NO WAY UR CRAZY YOU GUYS HAD ALOT OF TALENT LAST YEAR TO BAD YOU GUYS CAME IN COCKY....MAYBE THE PLAYERS GET IT FROM THERE COACHES.....LA HABRA HAD ENOUGH TO GET IT DONE LAST YEAR BUT LA HABRA COULDNT CAUSE ALL THEY HAD WAS MORALES.....I WOULD RATHER TAKE MY CHANCES WITH THE SECOND STRING QB WHO IS HORRIABLE AT REEADING DEFENSES.......LA HABRA AND THERE FANS BRING YOUR WHOLE CITY MOM GREAT GRANDPA ..UR GREAT GREAT MOTHER IT DONT MAKE A DIFFENCE FANS DONT PLAY FRIDAY NIGHTS PLAYERS DO AND TRUST ME FROM EXPERINCE WE DONT PAY ATTENTION TO THE CROWD .....ILL TAKE CAL HI AND SCHURR IN THE FINALS....
I don't see why everyone puts down the condors. All the other teams in the league, coaches included, pretty much hate us, most of the fans besides our own hate us except for some of them. The only real remark that hasn't put us down that I have read on here was from Proud LS Parent. I also want to say congrats to Gerardo Avila who got the Del Rio League MVP and everyone else on the condors who got 1st or 2nd team all league! I think it will be a great game on saturday and and I can't wait good luck to both teams! And GO CONDORS!
Anthony Moreno
I just read your post and noticed you called SP classof83 a child. I guess you think he posted that negative Schurr comment, but if you look closer the name of the poster is on the bottom of the comment not the top. As for SP, keep your heads this Saturday and play your game. Leave it all on the field. Nice article in the WDN. St. Paul football players are well spoken and always humble. Your right Cordova #25 it's all about the TEAM. It was nice to see the League Champion banner in the SP gym with 2007 on it. now lets get that CIF CHAMPIONS BANNER!
SP Should win how can they lose with the 605 all star team it does not take a lot of coaching to hand the ball off. still hating im wondering what would happen if they did not play any of this this years transfer.
TO CHS HATER: I WORK WITH THE KIDS AT CALIFORNIA HIGH SCHOOL, THERE NOT SAYING THERE GOING TO LOSE THEY ARE TALKING BOUT AN UPSET. AND IF YOU THINK THAT THEY ARE SCARED GUESS WHAT THERE NOT THEY ARE HAPPY TO BE THERE TO PLAY WHAT APPEARS TO BE A GREAT GAME. THOSE KIDS AND MOST OF THE KIDS WHOM WE PLAYED AGAINST HAVE BETTER SPORTSMANSHIP THAN ANYONE ON HERE. THIS IS JUST FOOTBALL REMEMBER THAT AND IN THESE KIDS LIVES THEY HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT SCHOOL AND FOOTBALL. GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE KIDS IN THE PLAYOFFS AND GOOD LUCK TO THE CONDORS AND SWORDSMEN.
ONCE A SWORDSMEN ALWAYS A SWORDSMEN. CLASS OF '99 LAST TIME THEY WENT TO THE FINALS. SO MAKE IT THERE GUYS.
TO CURT MUGG
NO ONE MAYBE TALKING NOW BUT I WILL VOICE MY OPPINION.
I THINK ITS ABOUT TIME THAT SP SHOWS UP TO A GAME, WITH ALL THAT TALENT RECRUITED OUT OF EVERY SCHOOL. AND YES I SAID RECRUITED I MYSELF WAS ASKEDTO "TRANSFER". I PERSONALLY KNOW DAVID FLORES YOUR MIDDLE LINEBACKER AND THERES NO WAY ON GODS GREEN EARTH THAT HE HIMSELF ALONG WITH HIS FATHER AND BROTHER WHO BLEED BLACK AND GOLD WOULD JUST SO HAPPEN TO LOOK INTO A DIFFERENT SCHOOL AFTER MAKING IT TO THE FINALS FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY. I HOPE THE BEST FOR HIM. BUT LETS SEE WHO SP TRYS PICKINGUP NEXT YEAR??? WAIT MY BAD LETS SEE HOW MANY TRANSFERS COME THROUGH TO SP.
The Schurr Spartans in the semis? Again? Did anyone predict this? They just simply "Refuse to Lose".
All you haters out there for Cal, please. LH will just have to go and show everyone what its all about. The Cal D cant carry them all the way. And the Offense...Come on, QB's that cant do much an O line that barely gets it done. Speaking of which, I heard some people on that team shouldnt even be playing because of grades and resident restrictions. There should be someone looking into that one.
As for the LH. We will show who the winners are this weekend. Peace.
CHS HATER
How sad... you sit behind your computer screen and say you hate CAL... The parents and students of Cal Hi are very proud of our team whether they WIN or LOSE they have come a long way and were not even suppose to be contenders according to some people and they are still in it. Some people say people hate what they wish they were.....A CONDOR
GOOD LUCK SATURDAY NIGHT...Play with Passion
Hey Football Fan,
Last time I checked COACH
JORDAN was no longer in the
CIF Play-Offs!!!!!!!!
CHS Hater,
What happened that has made you so upset? Did we beat you too? Upset because you aren't playing this weekend? Get a life buddy.
La Habra Fan and neighbor,
Did you happen to read the blog from "CHS Hater".
I know you would love to believe that La Habra Fans all have cute little white picket fences in their front yard, and sit home eating apple pie, sorry, but guys like him are the ones we have most heard from. I won't get involved in that nonsense. But, for the record...Nobody outnumbers CAL in OUR HOUSE!
GO CAL!!! Ya gotta love The O-LINE!
Joe Lopez,
Don't even compare last years team to this years team if you do your in for a rude awakening once we are done with Calhi your next Schurr. thats if you get past Fullerton.
football fan...i mean football idiot,
if jordan is such an offensive guru/master/offensive gift from the football heavens how come they only scored 7 points against fullerton? and if he is so great ask the head coach at la serna if hw wants jordan back!!!
what happen to all those SP HATERS ? come out! its all positive talk now. where's the back bone at? no way am i a sp fan but i miss reading those negative blogs about Sp this and Sp that. GOOD LUCK TO CAL HI !
ER FAN over here!
Anybody else see the Culver city players wanting to go after the St. Paul fans? I heard the fans chanting "St. Paul, St. Paul." then noticed the CC players screaming, cussing, throwing equipment, and spitting at the fans...security had to hold them back, and the CC coaches were pushing these players into the locker room...It could have been really bad!
~LAP
I just finished reading the articles about St. Paul and to state that it is amazing how they won without a passing game would be the story of the entire season since the El Rancho game...I have been to every game this season and my question to Coach Pete is...what game are you watching? Stop protecting your inexperienced sophomore QB (Paul Lopez)...you say dropped passes? How about saying terrible passes were thrown by my QB #12..you say missed blocks? How about saying my QB #12 is afraid to throw. You should be kissing your defense, OL, and running backs...they are who won you those games. For whoever said..remember #12 is a sophomore...believe me we know and we can definitely see his inexperience has reared its ugly head. Stop protecting him..he is not that good. He has done nothing for 6 games. As far as the transfers Haynes and Flores, they are the only two transfers that have even made a difference to the team...the rest have proven to be nothings...so when you say..the heart of the team...it is those players who have given their blood and sweat for 3 or 4 years and whether they play the whole game or not a minute, they are what St. Paul pride truly is...#67 you are a true model of SP pride and spirit. All I can say...is coaches be careful when you get transfers that you don't loose that SP pride by allowing those transfers to follow their own rules. Go SP...bring home a victory.
CHS Alumni,
You won't be wishing your a condor after after La Habra destroys you on your own field Saturday night!!! Hope to hear from you then. And where are all the Cal Hi fans postings now?? Be smart and don't say a word, cause all that talk throughout the year isn't gonna get you anywhere against La Habra. And don't try and say that your not posting anything because you don't have too and your just going to go out and play come Saturday night, because I already hear that lame excuse coming. YOUR SCARED!! Admit it! Just like all the players at Cal Hi already saying their gonna lose. But hey you guys won league, Right?
Campa,
Great article on the SP Defense!!!
maybe you could tell us how Flores ribs are, since everyone else is ha ha ha
La Serna HAD BOTH Jordons, where are they NOW?
Hey Class of 83
At least S.Vaughn posts his name unlike you. This man supports St.Paul on all his blogs, there is nothing the matter with the truth its how you say it. I'm sure you supports St. Paul in one way or another but it still sounds like you want them to win but not really. Good luck St. Paul Saturday night you can do it we have waited a long time to get back in the big game. Good job to the coaching staff, it seems as you have turned it around in two years. Go Swordsmen.
Let me comment on this child from St. Paul Class of '83, which will be know as "Aint Paula Ass of '83, have you attended any games played by the Spartans,do you know what it takes to get back to the finals, there may be some teams in the Almont League that aren't as talented but you have to play who's on the schedule, wasn't Alhambra, South El Monte, La Serna, picked to go farther in the playoffs than Schurr, was there any competition in La Habras' league. I attended the Westminster game, and after Schurr laid the pads on them in first quarter the game was over. And as for last years playoff with La Habra which the Highlanders lost 9-7,Schurr showed again in a close game Schurrs' defense will prevail, who cares how many times their quarter back comes into the game with an injury, who doesn't play hurt.If La Habra is looking past Cal, they will surely pay the price, and this talk about the Highlanders being on a mission, the Spartans have a title to defend, all we here in Spartanville are thinking about is Fullerton. I only hope St.Paul is put in the Almont League, then we will see what your made of.
GO SPARTANS BACK TO BACK
I GRADUATED FROM ST. PAUL THE LAST YEAR THEY MADE IT TO THE FINALS AND ACTUALLY HAD A CHANCE AT WINNING SOMETHING. I AM AND ALWAYS WILL BE A SWORDSMEN BUT I WILL NOT BAD MOUTH ANY KID ON HERE AS I NOW WORK AT CAL HI. I HELP THERE FOOTBALL TEAM OUT AS MUCH AS I CAN AND KNOW THAT ALL THE HARD WORK AND EFFORT WILL BE PUT OUT ON THAT FIELD ON SATURDAY NIGHT AS WILL EVERY OTHER PLAYERS WHO ARE STILL PLAYING. ALL THE PLAYERS NEED SUPPORT NOT JUST YOUR TEAM SUPPORT THEM FOR MAKING YOUR NIGHTS, WEEKENDS AND EVEN WEEKS. THE PARENTS ON HERE ARE LIVING THERE HIGHSCHOOL GLORY DAYS THROUGH THERE KIDS. SUPPORT THE KIDS FOR ITS THERE TIME NOW AND KEEP YOUR OTHER COMMENTS TO YOUR SELF ABOUT WHO'S BETTER. REMEMBER THOSE KIDS READ THESE BLOGS TOO AND TRUST ME I KNOW THEY GET HURT BY ALL THAT CRAP PEOPLE TALK. GOOD LUCK TO THE SWORDSMEN ON SATURDAY NIGHT. GOOD LUCK TO THE CONDORS ON SATURDAY NIGHT AND LETS HOPE ALL THE PLAYERS PLAY WELL AND DON'T GET INJURED.

NO MERCENARY HERE should have stayed at Schurr. would still be playing.
I'm going to end all this gossip and speculation about david flores...I literally dress in the "Den" right next to him and he does NOT have any broken rib(s). All he DID have was a BRUISED rib.....end of discussion!
La Habra is by far the elite team in the Southeast Division. There is no question about that. They have no weakness on offense, defense, special teams or coaching. They also have 3 or 4 deep at running back and receivers and a good backup QB.
They also have the 12th player(the fans)which always outnumber the home fans on the away games and 5 to 1 on the home games. They don't put down other schools or cities, they just win and our proud of their team and city. You will see this on Saturday. Good luck.
so how about garh v.s st. paul? garh is in for a physical battle, they do not have any o-linemen to block the strong stingy st. paul D-line that includes #33, #90, and #10 I heard they are all strong and can dominate mostly any line in the area.
Good Luck to them and stay Safe!
Football fan
im glad that you have schurr playing in the final vs La habra but schuur still needs to play Fullerton. i know thats what they are thinking about. You sound like a La serna Fan or Coach or someone connected to La Serna or you can be a LaHabra fan that is starting to talk because you fear that you might get schurr in the finals. Schurr lost to alhambra last year by 55- to 20 when the jordan was calling the plays. La serna should be playing schurr friday night but its tough when it 3rd and 1 and you throw a pick for a touchdown is that the kind of playing calling you are talking about. If schurr get to the finals they will be the underdogs because la habra is a great team and schurr know this liked they did last when the were pick to lose last year to la habra i believe it was on cal preps 45-10 and schurr pulled it off 9-7. Oh yeah they did not have morales he was hurt before the game. so i would think their great coaches would have the back up ready to go. schurr has lost 28 senior the lost to jordan was big but their in the semis again with no transfers and tell me you can say that. they recently lost a runningback and they still pulled out a win. Yes rosemead and westminster where not great teams but thats the luck of draw. but you can say the same thing about fullerton the played arroyo please and they played la serna they had to stop rudy to win and that was exactly what happend. This will be a test for schurr fullerton is in the semi because they earned it and they will bring it on friday. Schurr is full of great kids that do not look good on paper but they play with desire and heart and leave everything on the field. schurr is happy be playing football. so you can write and talk all you want but schurr is in it to win it. without the guru but i wish we had Rudy Jordan he will always be a Spartan in the eyes of the Spartans. To the football fan you are joke im hearing jealousy and fear.
I guess Schurr found a way to get back to the semis without the almighty Jordans. Joey left because he thought Schurr would not be any good this year. Guess what? Joey, your season is over. Are you going to support your alma mater on Friday night? By the way, Coach Salazar is doing a great job calling plays for the Spartans this year. He is doing a good job mixing up the pass and run. Good luck Spartans. Oh, and one more things Jordans, "the grass is not always greener on the other side."
Hey USMC Vet,
Did not know #20 had that type of hardward, I remember him also being a good hands WR last year. He made big plays against top notch teams, maybe (Coach G)is holding him for CIF finals?
I like you assessment on one fight one team, that is total team work and this team has that.
Finally, the offensive line is made up of kids which have played together as a unit since their freshmen year, they do not seem to get credit as well. These boys are tough as nails.
83....
First of all, we are lucky if we get any positive press from Campa or Murray on our football team. So to say they were hiding something is an erronous assumption on your part. I'm happy they even mention us. They are more enamored with Cal Hi and La Serna.
While well intended, your remarks made it look like the school was conspiring with the paper to hide something.
Think about what you write as not everyone sees the written word the same way.
There are so many falsehoods being spread by people on this blog right now that it seemed like you were piling on and badmouthing the team.
Those of us with kids on the team or are close to the team know the real truth.
We are all proud of the boys and we look forward to the game on Saturday.
WE BELIEVE!
st paul class of 83,
Who the heck ARE YOU? We've never heard of you. You are nobody to us. looking foolish is what you are making yourself do. Just relax, take a deep breath. Are the steroids you took taking effect just now? You don't have to write back to anyone. Just blog your mind away about football and leave it at that. No need to try to be better than everyone. You are not. So get over yourself.
St Paul Class of 1983 ,
One thing that is forsure, I would stick you so hard that when you woke up you would wish you were in 1983! Get real my friend, all your doing is trying to cause some drama. So stop it no one wants any of it. If you are a true follower as you claim, stop hateing on everyone and everything.
Funny ,you made a comment about someone else hiding behind there name. Your doing the same thing. Whats your real name?
As for me, I played at Long Beach Poly in the 80's and then went on to a Pac 10 school.
Hey Papa Jordan…..did Coach D hook you up with some sideline passes for you and your boy for Friday nights game? Bummer you and your kid jumped ship only to get bounced from the playoffs when Schurr actually has a chance to repeat as champs. I hope they can pull it off so you can always wonder how cool it would have been for your kid to have two rings knowing thanks to you he doesn’t!!!!!!
The truth,
How do you know for fact that David Flores has fractured ribs??? Are you a doctor, a friend, a team member, a parent?? Also earlier you said broken ribs, hmmm there is a difference you know.
Were you at the Quartz Hill game, were you at the CC game??? If you were you see for yourself that Flores as no break or fracture to his ribs. I know he took a blow but he is ok to play by the doctors, his parents, and coaches. And he along with the rest of SP DEFENSE will be ready for Gahr
God Bless, GO SP!!!
What an exciting SP/CC game!I like most other SP fans am sure happy our team overcame the block field goal attempt! I especially liked the three back formation because it took advantage of our OL's strong run blocking when SP was struggling to pass. It also neutralized CC defensive team speed. Again CONTRATULATIONS to the defense for two great defensive stands inside the 20 yard line in the first half. Against Gahr I hope we can pass better, but I definitely think we should use the three back formation against Gahr and force them to play to our strength the "OL". On a final note I wish all of the area teams that are still playing good luck!
Go SP
First of all, who the heck is S Vaughn, as a longtime Swordsmen alumni and supporter, I have never heard of you.
I NEVER badmouthed the Swordsmen and I have been a fan I am sure, much longer than you have. Are you an alumni of St Paul because I am and that makes me a true Swordsmen.
All I did was report that Culver City did not have its place kicker availaable and the missed PAT's by CC were a major reason they lost.
I guess reporting on the truth is beyond your comprehension but the truth is the truth.
and as for annonymous, your name says it all, you hide behind that name and you too seem to be pressured to understand the truth.
If you knew about St Paul, they don't cut players. I loved my time at the school and the football players were and are still friends of mine.
This is a Football Forum and I am reporting facts so both of you relax and read the entire post before mothing off and looking foolish.
One reason you haven't heard anything about Schurr is because they haven't played anyone yet (and Murray knows that), Rosemead was horrible, and so was Westminster, that entire league is overated. Fullerton is a better test for Schurr. So if the Spartans make a couple good plays to stay in the game and possibly win... It will be really embarrassing for them in the CIF Finals because La Habra vs Schurr wouldn't even be close. The score would easily be 45-10 on a bad day for La Habra. It won't be the same outcome for the Spartans like last year. They had an offense that was unstoppable last year it's not like that this year, their winning games with special teams and okay defense, against La Habra you have to score points to win (because everyone knows that they are going to score points)and with Coach Jordan gone they don't have the offensive mentality to get that done. If Schurr thinks that they can stop La Habra like last year their wrong, they lost too many key guys on defense and lets not forget Morales was hurt the entire game and Schurr only won 9-7. They know that if Morales played the whole game beside a couple of series La Habra would of easily won. He led them down the field to score with one leg. I know for a fact La Habra wants Schurr in the finals, and one more thing Schurr lost to San Gabriel - and at one point La Habra was beating San Gabriel 59-0. I don't care if Schurr fans are going to say that they were always the underdog last year, this is a new year and they clearly are outmatched. Last year against Santa Fe they weren't outmatched (Santa Fe was just favored)both teams were pretty even and then it came down to the coaching, and with Coach Jordan calling the plays they far outweighed the Santa Fe staff - that was a big difference... Schurr doesn't have that this year - their high intensity and heart can only go so far, when La Habra has pure talent, the will, and great coaching. Good thing for La Habra both Jordans are gone.
CONGRATULATIONS CAL-HI!!! Good luck on Saturday! and to all the haters...AWWW, you wish you were a CONDOR!!!
Why do I have to be a "hater" because I am telling the truth?
David Flores has dislocated ribs which can puncture one of his internal organs if he gets hit in the wrong spot.
Yeah, he's very tough and he's not going to let an injury like this stop him from playing.
BUT that's why this reflects on the coaching staff. THEY KNOW and they are still letting him play.
Flores is a big part of the defense but he's still just a kid who isn't necessarily making the best decisions. That's why the ADULTS around him should be--I'm not hating. I just don't like the way you all are trying to spin it.
At least St Paul Class of 1983 is honest enough to admit that he is injured and wearing protective gear because it's playoffs.
SCHURR SPARTANS THAT'S HOW YOU SPELL A CHAMPION. GOOD LUCK AGAINST FULLERTON. I SEE CAL OVER LA HABRA.SC OVER UCLA
GO SPARTANS !!!
Re.: Schurr Article
Thank you Mr. Murray!
Anonymous on Nov.24 11:27
You don't know what your talking about - Cal Hi has played horrible in the playoffs luckily they have played some crappy teams. Cal Hi's offense sucks, and their defense carrys them. Are they going to be able to trade touchdowns with La Habra - not a chance!!!. Only a team with a good offense has a chance to beat La Habra and the thing is no one left in this final four has one - not Fullerton, not Schurr and definitely not Cal Hi. Cal Hi isn't even that good, they will be brought back to earth Saturday night for sure, if losing to El Rancho wasn't bad enough. And Rudy Jordan is hands down the best player in the DRL if not in the area. Thats why Murray defends him, and guess what he has a something none of the kids in the DRL has and won't get a CIF RING. So keep hating, Loser. But all the coaches and players that Jordan has played against this year know that he's a great player.
Gr-unk:
I don't think that the Guada-La-Habra fans care too much about moving to Whittier, whether it be the City of Whittier or the unincorporated L.A. County portion of Whittier, where Cal Hi is located. Could this be what led to the confusion involving Mr. Grigsby last year? At any rate, go Guada-La-Habra, just like last year!
David Flores is will do great this week. Just as he did against CC. He did receive a blow to the ribs against QH, painful yes, but no definite damage. He's a tough kid, and along with the SP defense will be there to dominate on Gahr's offense. AND just to put an end to this broken rib rumor, anyone who attended the game friday night witnessed Flores' big hits, sacks, and interception. NOT your typical hurt player performance. Do not underestimate the spirit of high school football that we all know surpasses any bumps and bruises a player may receive along the way.
In regards to the transfer situation, David Flores did leave for personal reasons. He left Santa Fe and could have gone anywhere, but chose St. Paul. Bottom line: David Flores, based on his great successes this season, could have been an essential asset to any defense.
And just to clarify, Alex Flores DID fracture a rib earlier this season while starting at Santa Fe as a quarterback. As many, i look forward to what this Flores will bring to the program in the next two years at Santa Fe.
God Bless and Good Luck to all in the Semi-Finals.
St Paul Class of 1983, The truth?
Are you guys actually followers of the school? You know what I think? I think that you two guys are just bitter that your no longer a part of something good. How can you sit there and try to examine what they did wrong. Make's no sense to me at all.Wake up and smell the coffee. All your trash talk is not going to get anyone fired. So sit back and be proud that your school is still in the playoffs. Be supportive for one time in your benchwarming pathetic little life's
To The Truth:
Read your post and it seems your still crying over Santa Fe being at home while the mighty Swordsmen are in the semi's.
Broken ribs do NOT stop you from playing....it depends on the break, how much pain you can endure and if the school has a flak jacket for the player.
I remember in 1982, Mike Cruz, starting linebacker for the 14-0 State Champ Swordsmen , played the CIF Finals with a back injury that many (I guess Santa Fe players) would have taken them out. But Cruz was a tough kid and he played and brought home another title to St Paul High School.
St Paul coaches would never put a player at risk but Swordsmen players are tough and something like a broken rib will not keep those young men from playing for their school.
This is why St Paul is considered one of the best programs in the area and santa fe is...well just another Del Rey team at home this week.
By the way, that 1981-82 St Paul championship team was one of the best high school teams of alltime.....that team will always be remembered for its excellent play....what a season that was!
SPHS Class of 83
What if, what if, what if.....
Hey, like you said that's the breaks.
Why you so bitter? You get cut from the team or something when you were in school or did some football player beat up on you.
Get over it. You don't like SP...fine. Go root for one of the other teams still playing. I'm sure they would love to have you...we don't.
gr-unk. House values are way up in La Habra while they are slumping in Whittier. Get your facts straight. Then,to "the truth" talk about getting facts straight...you have the wrong guy with the broken ribs. Sounds like another upset parent that the genius of a coach from St. Paul doesn't play your kid. Substitute that extra value meal with some healthy choices and your kid just might break second string.
And who is surprised that this newspaper doesn't cover every part of the story? If you want every detail then go look for Soundheimer. If you know who he is, then don't be surprised.
People should stop focusing on this injury to Flores and calling it "broken ribs". One can barely breathe when a person has broken ribs let alone play a whole football game. He might have bruised ribs or some other kind of injury to that area, but I was at the game against CC and he played one of his best games I have seen him play since joining SP and the fact that he was hurt did not show, all of us who were athletes played hurt or injured before, what makes his efforts different, its his senior year. Also the SP coaching staff as well as the medical staff would never play anybody with broken ribs.
The truth, come on bro get a life. Are you David's dad? I'm sure his parents as well as the coaches did the right thing. So until you get your facts straight give it a rest. Your just a hater it very obvious. The truth, thats a joke nothing out of your mouth is the truth. Change your name to jealous or just hater.
I just found out that Culver City did NOT have its 1st string nor its 2nd string placekicker for last weeks game vrs St Paul. The QB had to kick PAT's and it was the 1st time he had attempted a kick in a game since his freshmen year.
Good for the Swordsmen on the win but now it makes sense how the #1 team in the division lost to a average SPHS team......hey those are the breaks but the Whittier newspaper should have reported on that.
There was no mention of 2 missed PAT's in OT .....if CC had its regular kicker, the Swordsmen may not have reached the semis......like I said, those are the breaks.
To Anonymous:
David Flores broke his ribs in the game against Quartz Hills.
He didn't practice all week before the Culver City game.
The St. Paul coaching staff played him when he was hurt because he shouldn't be playing for 4 - 6 weeks.
Alex Flores broke his ribs against Pioneer or La Serna and missed the rest of his season because SF staff wouldn't play him.
So try to spin any way you want, but David Flores is hurt and will play hurt against Gahr. AND this should reflect on the St Paul coaching staff.
As a senior from Schurr high school I am very displeased to see no articles about the SPARTANS. Our Gridders should be congradulated on their successful season. They've worked hard all season and it has shown.Do it for Molina and Almonte!
Score first, Attack hard, and Show NO MERCY SPARTANS!!!!
-The Pep Commissioner
That's a tough SP DEFENSE; tough kids like Hernandez, Flores, and Gallegos. But don't forget about Lopez (#20), this kid was named second-team all CIF last year and was a team MVP. I have seen Lopez play since his freshmen year and this Kid always gives more than 100%. He plays under the radar of most, but to those who know the game his contributions are tremendous. The Offense gets the glory but the DEFENSE wins the game! SP has plenty of Heart and for those Kids that have been there since their freshmen year, GOOD ON YOU! For those Kids that transferred, good on you too, better late than never to realize that you wanted to be part of winning program. Stop making excuses; SP made the semi-finals (again) and if your team didn't, well get off the this site and hit the weight room you need to get ready for next year. Stop hating and support SP!!! "One fight, one team…", that's how you win any game.
Schurr will roll right over Fullerton.. A team that does not throw the ball will play right into our hands. Although La habra will be heavy favorites in the Finals.. I like our chances
BACK TO BACK !!!!
Blogreader and everyone else,
You must have been confused about which Flores had broken ribs...David Flores is healthy and ready to go, his little brother Alex Flores is a sophmore that was the Santa Fe starting QB but suffered broken ribs in a game earlier this year so maybe you and others got confused in what you heard.
As for the game Gahr has a great offense but so did Crespi, Chaminade, Quartz Hill, and Culver City, look what happened, our defense handled it. Our offense must pound the football like it has all year, control the clock, and not turn the ball over.
Go SP!!
GOOD LUCK Condors!
We will be there Saturday to cheer you guys on!!!!
Play Hard, Have Fun, Stay Safe
SCHURR IS BACK IN THE SEMIS AND YOU WROTE NOTHING UNTIL TODAY? THANKS HOW IS IT THAT SCHURR IS BACK IN THE SEMI'S. THEY LOST 28 SENIORS PLAYERS TO GRADUATION AND THE LOST TO RUDY JORDAN TO LA SERNA AND GET THIS NO TRANSFERS. SCHURR TEAMS IS FULL OF BELIVERS AND HARD WORKING KIDS AND PLAY ONE GAME AT TIME. GOOD LUCK TO THE SPARTANS TAKE CARE OF FULLERTON.
Ok so now its been said over and over again st paul is a great program and has played hard this year and there defense is good and yes they run the ball very well. But if anyone really wants to know how good Gahr's offense is ask #13 he played there his freshman and sophmore year and it is acomplex offense their QB is smart and they have a bunch of weapons and yeah the stadium is gonna be packed so we will see how it goes. I have to give the edge to Gahr they have a lot of weapons and I think being at home they will get on track and if Flores is hurt well that makes things tough for st paul best of luck to both teams either way one of them will be Playing dominguez in the final and they are tough!
Hope LH isn't getting too overconfident and are looking past CalHi. They looked past Schurr last year and looked what happened.
Was around a group of LH Boosters tonight and to listen to them LH has already won CIF.
Gr-unk
Get off your high horse. If you're going to rant about a community's short-commings, the least you could do is whip up a blog entry without grade school english errors. If you want to talk about short-commings, how about when Cal High came up short against El Rancho a few weeks ago? Judging from their recent performance, La Habra has nothing to be jealous about. Good luck to all schools and Go St Paul!! Beat the Gladiators!
Let's stop bickering as to who is gonna win or loose and look at what's really going on here. Guada-La-Habra fans are just alittle jelous that they couldn't live in whittier so we'll let them have their say for now. But...when it all comes down to it all the boys on both teams have worked hard all season to get where they are and they deserve to be here. So to all the boys on both teams, Cal-Hi and La Habra...... Congrads and don't let the parents (as low class as some may be, putting down boys they don't even know, all for the sake of trying to compensate for their short commings) enjoy your accomplishments and life.
GO CAL
S. Vaughn,
The field goal attempt was BLOCKED...BAD DECISION!!, and also an extra point attempt in OT was blocked, maybe they could have known that CC had a good field goal block unit from film they would have punted. St. Paul was having success kicking the ball away from CC talented returner...THEY GOT TO THE SEMI-FINALS and that is all that matters, but the game was almost lost because of that decision in my opinion, there is nothing wrong with your opinionm I see your point but I question the call.
Wow are the Spartans gonna do it again? They look like they play whne it counts the most. The Juniors from last year are picking up the slack and bringing it on defense. Watch out fullerton u will get hammerred this friday night! Just like last year they are underdogs but why one must ask if their defending their TITLE?????
What some people don't mention is that SPHS has powered the ball on many opponents this season behind strong & aggresive up front blocking from their "O" Line that includes 4 returning starting Interior Linemen #'s 55, 60, 63 and 72, along with returning Tight Ends # 24 & TE/FB # 15. This group is probably one of the best in the area and have been proving it since last season's run.
So when the running backs are praised by everyone and the press, keep in mind # 23, 34, 36 & 48 credit the "O" Line first. No doubt the backs are talented and quick, but remember who creates the holes and drives the opponent down.
The Defense is by all means well rounded, and several players mentioned above have seen that side of the ball too.
The SWORDSMEN now have two League and CIF seasoned QB's in current starter # 12 & # 16 who is an All-League returner.
Strong armed # 17 could also be a force if called upon. WR's have shown discipline in routes, however timing in passes and protection duration have been an issue.
Practicing at higher level this week can produce the desired results Offensively.
So with that being said, we look foward to the next step in the 2007 SWORDSMEN march to another CIF SS major division title.
GO BIG BLUE! Beat Gahr H.S.!!!!!
hsfootballfan?
Are you for real? If they punt and it gets blocked then what? Bad snap then what? If the punter drops the ball then what? If he gets the kick off and the ball makes it to the endzone guess what? The ball goes to the 20 yard line. I really dont think they were thinking he was going to make that kick. Do you? So a bad call, I don't think so. Good decision at a crucial time.
People like you who don't know the rules should try to stay out of coaches box at all times.
Anyways, they won the game and thats all that matters.SEMI-FINALS baby.
What does Gahr bring that St. Paul's defense has not seen already? I understand the QB and RB are fast and athletic, but is their offense that complex we won't be able to handle them. Is it simply they are a solid team which is why they are in the semi-fianls as well. I have to believe they are in for a reason, it has to be they are a solid team. As for Anonymous suggestion I go out Wednesday night to see the QB's practice, don't have to, I watch him do nothing on Friday nights, what next, you want me to sit in on their coaches meetings? Never the less, Good luck to all the St. Paul players, that includes the QB (I do wish him well, stay out of harms way).
Finally, who ever mentioned about #11 & #51, they are tough kids that have been here loyal since their freshman year. Gallegoes as the QB would have led this team to a 9-1 record, that is what his leadership means. Don't forget the defensive live as well, that #10 & #33 are tough cookies!
Is it 100% sure that the St Paul game is at Gahr HS? They could have sold out Cerritos College for this match up. The Swordsmen early schedule, as rough as it was, prepared them for this run. Hopefully they will add another title to their already crowded trophy case.
Blogreader,
I get really tired about reading comments from people that have NO IDEA what they are talking about. You need to get your facts straight. The SP staff would never let any kid play with a injury, especially broken ribs. Don't try and give and give facts about SP staff or players when you probably have NO IDEA. Flores does not have broken ribs and will be ready for Friday along with the rest of the Swordsmen.
Go BIG BLUE!!!
again no playoff coverage from you on the Schurr Spartan football season, why do you ignore the fact that 28 seniors graduated from last years championship team ,and that this team is just one win away from the finals, and if you look back on the history with La Habra it lost in the playoffs to Schurr twice before, last year for starters.
CONGRATS SP.. good luck against THE SISTERS OF MERCY.
Hey Chumpman, you can't lay a hit on speed. As far as trying to stop them, good luck pal.. I'll spot you 20 points against anyone.. WORD TO THE CONDORS, STRAP IT UP TIGHT CAUSE YOUR GONNA BE IN A FIGHT.
Del Rio League Fans Unite!!
Haven't you people ever heard the story of David and Goliath?
How about the USC-Stanford game this year?
Or the UCLA-Arizona match-up?
Cal fans do NOT have write every other blog to show we support our boys--you have made each and every Cal fan proud beyond words.
We will play at OUR HOME FIELD because we earned that right--and our boys will fight until the final whistle blows. Win or lose, we are proud of you!!
It's shame that LH was cheated out of their rank but we had nothing to do with that, so don't begrudge us our home field advantage.
AND we have not been comparing ourselves to LH all season long; Cal has been focused on playing the teams on their schedule. They took it one game at a time and are in the semis. Now LH is the concern. Stop trying to pump up your fans with falsehoods.
Go CoNdOrS!!
"Chicken" happens to be a name that my husband and little ones call me! Just to let you know I was not calling anyone "Chicken" or trying to disrespect anyone
God Bless
Hey hsfootballfan,
ARE YOU DRINKING HATER-ADE
MORALES IS TOUGH AS NAILS LAST YEAR IN THE SHURR GAME HE GOT HURT BUT SUCKED IT UP AND CAME BACK IN THE GAME TELL ME HE DOES NOT HAVE HEART.We will play ANYONE anywhere anytime we will dominate!!!
What is it with these comments from CHUMPman and Spartan86(must be the same person), about La Habra not being able to take a hit? Hey guys, its a new year and not only can we take a hit, but I bet if and when we get you in the ring we'll be the ones doing the hitting. Believe me, your hits are on the way!
More facts:
I don't know the situation with Flores but I understand he went to SPHS his freshman year. Why does everyone always assume these guys are being recruited? Great example, Joe Morales from last year had been wanting to go to SPHS since his freshman year but because of family and community pressure he decided to attend SEMHS. He finally fulfilled his wishes and attended SPHS. It's remarkable to me that anyone that decides to transfer (for whatever reason) is automatically assumed to be recruited.
To Blogreader:
Flores is big part of defense and I'm sure it is a good idea to tip everyone off that he has broken ribs (did Gahr catch that?!?). Says a lot about a football program that it lets a kid play with that severe of an injury.
Flores was recruited, plain and simple. He hates that school and wants out.
And it can't be that bad for a Flores at Santa Fe: they played his 5'8"-140 lb little brother at QB for half the season until Alex broke his ribs.
AND hsfootballfan:
Yeah, you left some out because you listed nine players: #51-Albert Hernandez is the real leader of that defense--and he has been at St Paul since he was a freshman. He doesn't sit out for discipline reasons or get unsportsmenlike conduct penalties for every game.
And #11-Adrian Gallegos who has demonstrated so much team spirit through injury and adversity (he should be QBing the team but an injury sidelined him last year and he stepped into another position and stayed there).
I can completely agree that home field advantage is what every team wishes for when playing a game, it goes with the sport, however IMO big games such as Semi-finals and Finals should be played at larger venues where players, fans, coaches and the community get a chance to experience what it is like to play in a big game under the lights of a nice stadium such as CSUF, OCC, ELA or Cerritos. The atmosphere is unbelievable and the memories will last a lifetime.
I was bored and read some past blogs, I have sat on the sidelines for every SP game and have noticed 1 thing
anonymous from Sept. 1
what about that Karma for David Flores from Coach Costa. With all due respect to the SF program. Flores left for a personal reason.
He has been the best player on the field for SP many games. Ask anybody from SP, who is the LEADER on that team??? The defense is GREAT but it is a totally different D without Flores, again ask anybody, O btw Flores played with "BROKEN RIBS" against Culver City, and had a remarkable game.
Coach Mazzotta graduated from St. Paul High School in 1986.
SP wins!!! Murray and Campa, I wish you would write more about SP DEFENSE!!! Thanks again to the defense once again led by #32 David Flores, #11 Adrian Gallegos, #13 Ryan Stiger (who shut down CC best receiver #4), and #20 Matt Lopez, this TEAM defense include #54, #51, #10, #33, #34, and if i didnt mention others i apologize...Haynes, Garcia ans DeDios have scored the TD's but the SP DEFENSE HAS WON EVERY SINGLE GAME!!! They shut-down CC's offense, they only scored because of, guess what, poor coaching decisions...one included attempted kicking a field goal!!!! when your supposed to PUNT!!!
Cant wait for local semi games...
SP over Gahr...The DEFENSE WILL WIN THE GAME, Haynes will score points, hopefully SP does not underestimate Gahr, they are here for a reason too, btw the Gahr QB has put up better numbers than CC's QB, he is TOP 3 in the state...
La Habra over Cal
Sorry Cal, not even your defense can stop the New England Patri...SORRY I MEAN LA HABRA HIGHLANDERS...
Fullerton over Schurr
Schurr deserves MORE RESPECT but Fullerton probably doesnt care
LOL TELL LA HABRA FANS TO SHUT UP THERE GONNA OVERFLOW THE STADIUM MAN PLEASE! ! ! THEY CLAIM TO BE A REAL TEAM TRUST ME THEY CAN BE STOPED YOU JUST NEED TO LAY A HELMET INTO THEM EVERY PLAY AND THEY WILL FALL MARK MY WORDS.....MORLAS IS A GOOD QB BUT ONCE YOU START HITTING HIM EVERY PLAY HE QUITS....GOOD LUCK TO CAL HI WHOOP THE HIGHLOSERS....
GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE TEAMS THIS WEEK THEY MUST BEING DOING SOMETHING RIGHT AS PLAYERS AND THE COACHES KNOW WAT THEY R DOING CAUSE THERE TEAMS R IN THE SEMI'S....... BESIDES ITS WEEK 13 LET THE KIDS PLAY GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE TEAMS!!!!!!
tech savy, who cares what you wrote. Nobody cares. We all knew it. Good you support the best team in the area. Don't go sounding like a Del Rio League guy. Let's not go down to their level.
spartan alumn 86, are you serious? thanks for the laugh. I needed that after all the postings from DRL fans......oops thats right, there aren't any. (thank god)
Where is the write up on the Schurr Spartans? Why does your paper barely mention them? I saw a article in the Orange County Register why not yours? This is so insulting to our young men who are doing an excellent job this year and have earned their right to be noted. Shame on you for not including them in your paper this weekend!
Game time at schurr is 7:00 pm at the schurr game last year there was not that many people from la habra it was a good crowd. not an army as they will claim they bring. cal get ready to get bombared with e-mails from their booster club that is lead by the head coach.
Garh's Stadium is going to be way to small for the swordsman faithful. I hope they move the game to Cerritos College or be prepared to get there early. GO SWORDSMAN !!!
It's official, at least as of Sunday night:
La Habra at California, Saturday, 7 p.m.
California's players were given the choice of playing at home or elsewhere (perhaps Cerritos College). They opted for familiar surroundings. Apparently the administration agreed. Reportedly additional seating will be brought in. La Habra has legitimate concern because the Highlander faithful will overflow the visitor's side of the stadium.
Fullerton at Schurr, Friday, (time to be determined, but both teams play their regular season games at 7 p.m., so here's hoping ...)
Game will be played at Schurr HS.
St. Paul at Gahr, Saturday, 7:30 p.m.
Game will be played at Gahr HS.
Memo to Cal Hi.You've been comparing yourselves to La Habra all year long. Well here we come.Be careful what you wish for. GO CLAN
SPfaninthestands,
Cal-La Habra game is on Saturday, site TBD.
Let me ask Coach Mazzotta where he played High School or College ball. I'll get back to ya.
Are the La Habra parents trying to move a big playoff game to a nuetral site again? Who cares how many people you bring, home field advantage is home field advantage. You should be ashamed of yourselves for trying to take that away from Cal. You tried to do that last year at Schurr, and thank goodness our AD stuck to his guns. I hope Cals AD does the same.
where are all the del rio league supporters that were writing in this blog everyday? Don't be ashamed to admit you were wrong. Get in on this blog and support your area teams.
La Habra had a great game. They are only getting better from here. Aaron Novikoff had a great game with the interception for a touchdown, two sacks, a blocked punt, and about a half dozen tackles. Aaron was a man on fire and the defense was relentless. Jason Davis absolutley destroyed people out there, future advice for anyone would be not to get in his way. I know they look forward to playing cal hi. I heard la habra singing Elton John before the game too, i thought that was funny.
"You need to look back at my post on Aug 29,2007".. Which transfer will make the biggest difference this year... I said aubrey haynes who is leading the offense... 2nd i said david flores who is the leading takler on defense... Now on Gabriel Encinas the QB position spot is the St.Paul Staff decision...which i respect fully good luck to all teams still in the CIF
Area Fan,
As of now there is no decision on where the game will be. I know that there was dicussion about getting Cerritos College. The latest I have heard is that The principal at Cal Hi is in close with the principal at Sonora and so the Cal principal has shot down the Cerritos idea, my guess is that they don't want to do us any favors and make it easier on our fans. If I hear anything I will let you know.
I thought the long field goal was a good idea at the time because in high school a missed field goal puts the ball on the 20. It was a better chance to miss a field goal then to have a punt blocked like it almost was all night. St Paul plays Saturday night at Gahr HS, come out and watch some good football. If the Cal/La Habra game is on friday I will go watch it. By the way I believe coach Mazzotta is from El Rancho not St Paul?? Does anyone know St Pauls schedule next year, I hear they play St. John Bosco, Los Altos and Pioneer, is that correct?? Who else?
WOW...ST PAUL!!!
I knew you had it in you to WIN!!!
CONGRATULATIONS to the team for NEVER giving up!!!
CONGRATULATIONS to the coaching staff for finding a way to WIN!!!
Again, "CLASS ACT"!!!
SP, way to find a way to win last night against the top seed in the division! GREAT TEAM effort!!!
For the should've would've confusion, Haynes did not play in the first half due to not fulfilling team rules for the week, the 50 yard field goal attempt was a good decision because if it was not blocked it would have ended the game & offensively good play calling because there is nothing any coach can do if your QB's are 0-7 for the night!!!
Considering the given stats & being a former QB myself, I want to compliment the coaching staff in finding creative ways to get the ball into the hands of their best ball carriers (23, 34, 48) & not "panicking" & sticking to your strength!!! I would also like to compliment the defense in executing a great game plan & holding down a high-powered offense such as CC for most of the night.
GO SWORDSMEN & dont stop @ the semi's this year!!!!
Anonymous?
Do you know the reason why Aubrey did'nt play till the second half? reason being that he didn't practice all week long once again. Granted he is the best back in the area, but rules are rules. If your a real SP follower then this should sit good with you. No player is bigger than the program. Learn it and live it people!
As for running left or right ,WHO CARES! they won and are going to the semi's. I will bet everything that if they win you will be the first to say how good they are. Front runner. If they lose ,all your stupid comments. All that matters is that they won . Great execution when you needed it most. And to Paul Lopez, keep your head up, and just keep winning cuz thats all that matters. People dont forget that he's only a soph. All you SP haters are eating dogscrap right about now. And by the way tickets will be on sale for all you bleacher coaches this week.Us true fans will let you people join our bandwagon this week and hopefully next week.Good luck to the players and coaches this week. Go SP!!
Dashman 7,
Any news on where the CAL-La Habra game will be played?
I agree, the boys from Sarta played a great game!
All that the paper can write about is La Habra & San Gabrial. What about the fact that the Spartans are one game away from defending the title!!!
Hey anonymous, that is a good name for you. Why do you think Haynes didn't play? I don't know but I do know there has to be a reason. Give me a break I'm sure your somebody who THINKS they know everything but you really don't know anything. I asked the parents and the kids and Haynes wasn't hurt so I'm sure its some disciplinary reasons for him sitting out. One more thing if the offense could get in there and pass the ball I think they would. Oh maybe the coaches don't want to win. Give it up sir.
Once again great job St. Paul.
I wonder who your calling chicken when you sign your name anonymous.
La Habra proves that it should be number one! You can't stop the Big Blue Train rumbleing through a town near you soon. Murry you need to have the photographer change the captions on the photos he put up. The last two photos name Morales as the player pictured. Morales dosen't play defense. The player who made the interception and touchdown is Aaron Novikoff number 43.
CONGRATS TO ST.PAUL ON THE GAME AGAINST CULVER CITY. ONCE AGAIN THERE DEFENCE IS COMING UP BIG AGAIN. NOT TO MENTION THERE OFFENCE TO. JUST LIKE LAST YEAR THERE DEFENCE IS STARTING TO PLAY REALLY GOOD AT PLAYOFF TIME. GOOD LUCK ON SATURDAY,I HOPE TO SEE YOU IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME GO ST.PAUL.
Great win St Paul........whatever comments you have about the program or coaching staff, they made semi-finals.
typical Del Rio League. Make the playoffs and then hit a wall. Only Cal is alive. Did anyone have them taking the league? No...you are too caught up with your high school days rather than analyzing every aspect of a team. All season long I read how your team this and your team that. So far you have the top area teams alive. We know you hate ST. PAUL, thanks. Motivate them more. I dare you to write something negative about them. LA HABRA is dominating. The only respectable team from the DRL is alive. Good for them. None of you had them before the season started. Oh by the way, has anyone seen Rudy Jordan? Remember him? MVP? Did he even show up last night? I love it. Even Mr. Murray backs up the kid like if he's his own. Ever heard of being unbiased Mr. Murray? I'll end this now by wishing the best teams in the area good luck in the next round.
HOW DO WIN A GAME WITH NO PASSING YARDS IS BEYOND ME,AND DEFINETELY BEYOND CULVER CITYS COMPREHENSION.GO ST PAUL!!!!!!
Great job wearing down CC's defensive front. However, bonehead coaching decision going for the 50yd field goal could have cost your players the game.
What were you thinking?
LOL the rest of the way!
Rodger,
Can you please explain something to me!!!!! how come there is not one mention of the schurr spartans in todays paper??? they are in the semi-finals for the second straight year....what gives??? we all know that you and your staff dont think they are gonna win but they are in your coverage area!!!! the boys on the team deserve some recognition!!!! get it together!!!!
Yes SP did find a win. Try and understand we did play the #1 team with two of their athletes going to UCLA & Oregon. The swordsmen worked their tails off. A few errors but we did pull it off. Very exciting game, good luck to all teams that are left. Represent the area well and leave your hearts on the field. Go St. Paul.
We are long time alum from St. Paul, what the heck was that coach trying to prove making #23 sit on the bench the whole first half? Did it really have to come down to a double overtime, poor coaching decisions on the offense side of the ball almost ended St. Paul's championship run!
Offensive coordinator, maybe you should get some new plays, the defense is starting to key in on your run left, run right nonsense, what happened to the I formation, how about some swing routes to the running backs?
The defensive coordinator you should be commended for the remarkable job that your D has been doing the last part of the season and especially today's game, after a poor decision on the offensive side trying to kick a field goal in a punting situation, you guys came through in OT and saved the game!
God Bless you guys on the field in the next task towards a championship!!
"Chicken"
"Chicken"
Aubrey Haynes, 4 touchdowns, and didn't even play the first half!!! ENOUGH SAID
