Calpreps Ranks the Whittier Area
THE FINAL POLL IS IN!!!! (Well, sort of)
Calpreps.com, a football website that makes predictions and polls for California, recently released its rankings for the Whittier area. Guess who's No. 1?
1. St. Paul (10-4)

2. La Habra (13-0)

3. Cal-Hi (11-2)
T4. La Serna (8-4)
T4. Schurr (8-5)
and the rest...
6. Pioneer (6-4), 7. Whittier (6-4), 8. Santa Fe (5-6), 9. Whittier Christian (6-6), 10. La Mirada (4-7), 11. El Rancho (5-6), 12. Cantwell-Sacred Heart (7-4), 13. Montebello (2-8).
Agree with the rankings? Disagree? Should four-loss St. Paul get the nod for No. 1 because they play in a more difficult division than undefeated La Habra? Was Whittier Christian really stronger than La Mirada, El Rancho and Cantwell? What about Pioneer? The Titans didn't make the postseason but were ranked higher than playoff squads Santa Fe and El Rancho?
Maybe most importantly, do the rankings mean anything?

La Habra & St. Paul are both good programs down there, this year would have been a great game. Early in the season I would give it to La Habra, but towards the end of the season St.Paul was an improved team. I call it a toss up, both finished well this year, They should
make a yearly game between these programs, thats the only way to know who is better, otherwise its all speculation.
I would have to agree with Mrs. Verrezzo, somewhat. I myself moved to Whittier from a varrio in South LA.
However, I attended(in search of a good high school program) a few St. Paul games in the mid to late 90's, then again recently. I was not impressed by what I saw(and I went to LAUSD schools.)
Needless to say, my children will never set foot on that campus.
To everyone on this blog it is getting old about the LH and SP internet rivalry. Football Fan put it best with his post on Dec. 15 for you LH fans. Try and explain to all of us how he is wrong! Now for the SP fans because I am one of them. If you are happy with a D3 championship you must not know crap about SP. Until we can beat D1 teams and compete in D1 annually quit running your mouth. Because as far as I am concerned this is not real SP football!
Anonymous,
You're off two divisons. LH is in Division 7.
la habra what division are you in, 5?? 7??? that is all
Football Fan,
Your post again doesn't make sense. You state that when SP played a good team they lost. Well the fact is that LH didn't play any good teams thats why they went undefeated. It's a simple fact.
SP you guys are weak you can't even be on the same field as LH we would dominate you like everyone else we beat Fullerton and our offense had a off day or defense alone would dominate
Ms. Verezzo,
That dictionary you wrote about would also contain a picture of you under “loser”. The “barrio”, could your picture also be under racists? Your words strike a very clear picture of you Ma’am, and that’s an ugly picture. You do not have the courage to claim your affiliation to whichever school St. Paul obviously beat, but that’s OK, at least you give your name. I guess your players, fans and parents were innocent recipients of “barrio” hazing. Geena, get a clue, you were too scared to say anything then and now you want to post condescending remarks and try to make it a social class issue. This is a High School Football site and I only have a “barrio” education, so I do not have proper skills to write how I really feel, without using the letters KCFU FOF!
St. Paul’s defense, just like its supporters, is way too tough and battle tested to be ranked anything less than number 1.
Genna Verezzo,
It sounds like your comments are ignorant; please do not refer to SPHS students as ghetto. I’m just asking…please state your school; we can not justify any displeasure that might have occurred. Most SPHS fans are loyal and respectful to other. There are a certain number of new fans that will create problems for most and will tarnish this great schools name. Like most SPHS fans we have gone to this school or have students that are currently enrolled. I just hope your students were not the ones that were disrespectful, because there are two sides to the story. So before you begin to finger ones school, please have the courage to NAME YOUR SCHOOL.
WE DO NOT TEACH OUR KIDS TO CONDUCT IN THE MANNER YOUR REFERRING TO.
Fact: There is a picture of our beloved patron St. Paul in the Dictionary…
SPHS alumni 1992
To the person who wrote about the behavior at sp, did you witness this or did someone tell you this happened. because you don't sound like a sp fan, thus you don't go to the games. attending home games at sp I didn't see anything you don't see at most high school games. People having a good time. Also the season is over and get on with your lives.
SPF@N and Hank,
I wish you guys would read my post a little better, because I mentioned the crappy teams you played in preseason and beat - but I also did mention that when you played a good team you lost - like to Crespi, Servite, Alemany, Bishop Amat, etc... And when you played an average you luckily and found a way to win - and some of them weren't even average (Gahr, Quartz Hill) and didn't touch on two things - 1. If LH played the 4 teams you played in the playoffs they would be D3 CIF Champs also. 2. If LH or anyone from the DRL or Almont league would drop to say Whittier Christian's division for playoffs they would win the title every single year. Why didn't you guys comment on those two statements??? Because all you have to say is who did LH play? who did LH play? When did you play and beat a quality team? Because it wasn't this year?
Come on SPHS Supporter, lets see if this is a good topic to complain about now. We are CIF Champions and now you want to say the coaches blew it. OK, Coach went to the meeting and said he didn't want as many Swordsmen as he could get on this team. SAVE it for crying outloud. From what I understand this meeting took place before the first week of playoffs so of course if the meeting was last week the Swordsmen would have got alot of recognition. There are other players in the league other than SP kids. Just stop, all these supporters who want to controll the school. We had a great year and yes of course all our kids should get first team but they cant.
Once again great season SP we are Champions!!
geena verezzo,
Thanks for the recommendation not I will not send my child there....NOT. Get a life, there is bad apples everywhere you go as well as good ones. Please do not generalize the SP fans, students and parents because a bad experience you had there. God Bless You.
The most ridiculous things is that all you people are fighting over SP vs. La Habra, relax. You guys are all men or children who never played football before and talking so much madness.
If the schools will play thats between the coaches let them settle this and stop acting so annoying on both sides.
Football is now over so for all you people who get crazy behind their posts take a deep breath and find something else to complain about until next September.
I would like to say its been nice seeing two area teams winning CIF, great job to both schools.
Geena:
Not only is your comment racist but to generalize and characterize a group of fine people beacuse of the actions of a few is extremely small minded.
Like the kids from your school (whichever one it is) are perfect little angels? I've been games at other schools where the same things happen and our team has been subject to the same.
We don't condone the actions of the people who did such things as you describe. It is not the St. Paul way.
So before you get off your high horse go and take a look in the mirror to see who is classless.
Personally, I think you owe the parents of St. Paul an apology.
First, I want to congratulate St. Paul on winning a CIF championship, not an easy thing to do. La Habra also deserves Kudos for their undefeated season and CIF championship as well. However, the true measurement of a good program is measured by the success a program has year in and year out. La Habra has proven they deserve respect for their accomplishments over the last nine years under Mazzotta. 7 league titles and 3 CIF championships, someone is doing something right over at La Habra. I remember during the 70s and 80s that St. Paul use to be the benchmark for programs who wanted to know how to win. I know that it has been a while since St. Paul has been to the finals and won a championship, but here is to their future success and maybe someday La Habra and St Paul will play each other in the pre-season. That would be a game that I would definitely attend, but for now lets just say that we are very fortunate to have two very fine teams to root for in our approximate neighborhoods.
It might just be me but it sure seems like there are alot of St Paul people(not all)who are full of themselves.First of all they never have anything good to say about any other school. They had a couple of really good seasons so I guess now they think they can consantly gloat. What happened to being humble and showing a little humility? Is'nt that what your faith is based on? It's one thing to be proud about what your boys accomlpished, it's another to be smug and arrogant.Maybe when you start showing a little class and start giving a little respect, others will inturn do the same. This is not directed to the majority but to the few that feel it's nesassary to make constant negative comments about other programs and players.Your not representing the school or your boys the right way.Champions have the right to be proud, not to show up every person that does'nt praise the swordsmen.
All I know is that the Saint Paul players and the fans are the rudest people we have ever had the displeasure of being exposed to--From fans throwing bottles at visiting players at half time as they walk to the lockers, to players calling visiting coaches and fans obscenity laced names, to St. Paul girls in the parking lot calling girls from other schools whores and worse.
Some great Catholic school!I guess you just can't take some people out of the ghetto, or the barrio- But I guess they learned these valuable character lessons from their coaches-and teachers, and parents
If there was a picture under the word classless in the dctionary-it would be a picture of St Paul players and parents.
Football Fan,
You must be crazy of you think La Habra could beat SP this year. SP is a much better and much stronger football team. you might be faster but so was Culver City (they would beat LH), so was Gahr (they would beat LH), so was Chaminade and St. Francis (they would beat LH), and so was Palmdale (they would beat LH), also a majority of the schools that SP beat has D1 college recruits...So I know that they can easy handle your speed and quickness...also Morales is not the best QB St. Paul would shut down, they have shut down much better offenses and QB's.
Football Fan,
Wow, you're delusional!
LH barely beat a weak Fullerton team 16-6. Fullerton ended the season with 5 losses! Getting pounded by El Dorado, South Hills, El Modena and Troy.
How funny when you bad mouthed Palmdale you forget to mention they happened to beat true So Cal Powerhouse Compton Dominguez.
Congrats to LH but to say they'd beat SP because they play stronger competition would be foolish.
On a side note, if SP played in the Freeway League and in D7 they'd be CIF Champs every year!
Football Fan,
Wow… what a great schedule LH played. I hope next year you can schedule a Pop Warner team and take there championship away from them. Keep talking you know if you schedule SPHS at any giving time you will get beat. Just ask Coach Mazzotta (SP Alumni) Good luck next year…
Downey 3-7
South Hills 10-3
Westminster 8-4
Villa Park 1-9
Brea Olinda 5-6
Troy 5-4
Sunny Hills 1-8
Buena Park 0-9
Sonora 5-5
Just want to say Great Job to Nick Alvarez, Abraham Torres & Morris Keseloff for making the Top 100 in California with MaxPreps- they did a great job for La Serna, it was a blast watching them and we enjoyed the entire season.
Again, Great Job
IF THE MISSION ALL LEAGUE TEAM ON ANONYMOUS POST 12/16 IS CORRECT SOME COACHES REALLY BLEW IT FROM SPHS. HOW COULD YOU ALLOW A OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR AND A CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER FROM NON CIF QUALIFING CHAMINADE? HOW DID YOU ALLOW A MOST VALUBLE LINEMAN COME FROM NON CIF QUALIFYING ST. FRANCIS? SPHS BEAT BOTH SCHOOLS! ONLY ONE 1ST TEAMER ON OL AND AT RUNNING BACK? YOUR PLAYERS ARE CO-CHAMPS OF THE LEAGUE AND CIF CHAMPS TOO! HOW COME #10 YOUR SACK LEADER IS NOT 1ST TEAM DL AS A FOURTH MAN? WHY IS THERE SIX DB'S PACKED IN WITH THREE FROM 2ND AND 3RD PLACE TEAMS? HOW DID 2ND TEAM OL GET SCREWED ALSO WITH FOUR OF SIX SPOTS FILLED WITH NON CHAMPS AGAIN? WASN'T #34 YOUR SECOND LEADING RUSHER ON YOUR CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM? HOW DID YOU ALLOW SIX DB SPOTS AGAIN ON 2ND TEAM AND ONLY LAND ONE AND LEAVE OUT #21, #22 AND #34? YOUR OTHER OFFENSIVE TACKLE #63, CENTER #52 AND BOTH BLOCKING TIGHT ENDS #15 & #24 ALSO PAVED THE WAY THRU LEAGUE AND CIF IN THE TRENCHES. ALL OF THESE SWORDSMEN SMASHED THE OPPONENTS WHEN SPHS NEEDED IT! MAYBE SOME GOT HONORABLE MENTION. DID YOU MENTION THEM AT ALL? HOLDING A CO-LEAGUE TITLE WITH A DIVISION TITLE ON TOP OF IT PUT SOMEBODY IN THE DRIVER SEAT TO CALL THE SHOTS AT LEAGUE SELECTION. DON'T SCREW IT UP AGAIN WITH ALL CIF. HERES HOW WELL YOU COACHES DID - ONLY 16 OF 60 LEAGUE HONORS WITH JUST TWO SWORDSMEN ON 1ST TEAM OFFENSE FOR THE 2007 HISTORY MAKING SWORDSMEN TEAM.
ALOT OF QUESTIONS TO ANSWER AND REALLY THINK ABOUT BECAUSE THE OFF SEASON JUST MIGHT BE LONGER THAN EXPECTED. A COPY OF THIS WILL BE SENT TO THE SCHOOL FOR REVIEW.
RAldecoa,
Just to let you know, I personally talked to alot of the coaching staff from SP.(including coach g) They told me they were sorry that the boys left. They also talked about how much better the team would have been if both kids had stayed."It might have been a 13-1 season if we had those two kids" . Don't feel bad because those two have alot of respect at the pit. Would love to see them back next year. Helping us defend our title. So to those two boys, keep your heads up! Once a swordman always a swordman...
To all the people saying St. Paul would beat La Habra, you're crazy! The only argument that you have is who did LH play? who did LH play? Who did St. Paul play? They beat Quartz Hill who the heck are they??? And then Culver City who was a quality team but because of their kicker they didn't end your season (or you would of been knocked out in the second round) and then Gahr - were talking about Gahr high school 18-14. You know Gahr barely beat Warren High School who La Serna high school should of beat and Arroyo high did - that's a joke. And Palmdale was overated look who they played Little Rock, Highland, Eastside, Antelope Valley, all these schools suck. Let me get this straight you play a league against quality opponents and lose which any team can do "Lose to a good team" (Servite, Crespi, Bishop Amat, Alemany) but make the playoffs in a lower division??? Whaaattt? Thats sounds odd? Why don't you stay in the Pac5 if your so good - cause you wouldn't have a chance that's why! What if all the DRL league, Almont league, Freeway league, were to play their league games normally and then make the playoffs against Whittier Christian's division? Do you think that they would win the championship? They would be CIF Champs every year - whether it's LH, Schurr, Cal, La Serna...
So before you start pointing fingers talking about who LH played look at your own schedule and understand when your played a crappy team you won (cantwell, el rancho) when you played a good team you lost, and when you played overated teams you barely found a way to win. And guess what if La Habra played the 4 teams you played in the played in the playoffs they would have a D3 Championship ring too! Believe it!
EL Don,
Thank you for your kind comments about our boys, Aldecoa and Galan, it is a welcome change to the negative comments written on this blog over this past season.
It most definitely was a disappointment to our families to read comments written by "adults" (I use the term loosely) calling our boys "REJECTS", to endure a St. Paul Coach tell one of our boys...don't you feel like crap now (crap not the actual word used) after the semi final game at Gahr......or a coach turning his back on a “child” offering his hand in greeting to an adult as he was taught to do out of respect……….adults representing St. Paul.
These boys have had to endure a great deal during this past season…. Criticism from the St. Paul faithful and the trials of becoming a El Rancho Don. It is not easy as an upper classman transfer (as you can read from past blogs re: upper classman transfers into St. Paul) not only do they have to earn a spot on the team… but earning the respect of their piers which is difficult to do when they consider you a St. Paul Swordsman at first. For a time in limbo…..Not a Swordsman….Not a Don. Luckily it worked out for these two boys and they became part of the El Rancho Don Family …doing what they love…playing football.
Through all this drama our family attended a few St. Paul play off games to lend our support to the boys and families we grew to know and love during the two years Marcus attended St. Paul. We are most definitely happy for and proud of the St. Paul boy’s accomplishments this season, in contrast to what other bloggers say “they know”.
No one but our families are privy to the “true" story behind the boy’s departure from St. Paul…..at this point does it matter??? It is what it is.
Maybe just maybe next year the boys can be referred to as Aldecoa and Galan….El Rancho Seniors instead of St. Paul Transfers.
Football Fan,
SP had a ton of players that contributed that weren't transfers and weren't displaced. If anything a kid like Luis Garcia (RB) should be commended. He stood at SP, despite Haynes transferring and raised his level of play. Also kudos to Eddie de Dios (FB), Albert Hernandez (LB) and Daniel Cordova (DE/LB). All these guys, though undersized, played big when it counted!
To that person who keeps mentioning Cantwell, come on and get real. You must of graduated from Cantwell or have a kid on the team. The only good team they played (SP) whooped them. The other teams they lost to were weak and the teams they beat would have had been beaten by any middle school.
First, I would like to say good job to the swordsmen on winning cif. Also to albert hernandez and david flores all those hardworking days we pumped iron in the summer and after some practices has paid off. As a member of the swordsmen football team in 1991-92 Im very proud of you guys, you make us old school players very proud. Knowing and coaching the both of you at the age of 7, has made me very proud on what you did as a swordsmen. Good luck, coach will always be here for the both of you. We should have a good team next year and to all DRL boys, all of you boys did a hell of a job this year. remember this All DRL teams did better this year than the previous year. So keep your heads up. also, I would like to see garfield play santa fe or pioneer next year. To alex good luck at santa fe next year we will be pumping iron in the gym in january so be ready for a great year.

Don't let a 10-4 record fool you.. I dont see a school in the area other than SP schedule D-1 teams in their preseason. SP had three. 13-0 LH had a great year but they play a week schedule. Compare both playoff runs SP shut down two of the states top QB's to get to the finals. LH is what D6 or D7. I will not take anything away from them and talk smack they have a great team but I definetely do not think they could handle the SP schedule and play as physical as SP. LH has never had to endure a schedule like SP. Look at their schedule the last two years. it has been one of the toughest in the state. LH you have a SP alumni in Mazzota! I think their might be a reason he does not schedule tougher teams. Maybe he does not know if LH can handle the pounding of a grueling schedule. Hopefully we can solve this debate one day and play at the Pit!! I am referring to the O.G. PIT! The SP PIT!! Ask the LH coach about that ....
why is it that now that St. Paul is winning games that the are bagging on everyone and bad mouthing people that transfered out and saying they dont need anyone but yet when they wernt winning they were going to every school begginf players to come play for them so watch what you say and be happy you have a ring
Big Russ,
Don't even try and say that all the football players at St. Paul are catholic - cause if you do think that your the biggest idiot on this blog. And why would a kid want to put his time in as a freshman all the way to his senior year? He'll be a starting RB, QB, DB, etc... his freshman and sophmore year but once he hits varsity St. Paul will just reqruit some star player from another team and that kid that put all his time has to ride the bench. For example, who was the starting running back and one of the starting line backers this year before Aubrey Hanes and David Flores got their? Would you be mad if that was your kid that started all the previous years but once St.Paul reqruits these other kids the REAL LOYAL players are out of luck. And I know their are many parents that feel this way especially this year at St.Paul. So tell me where the loyalty is? None at St.Paul.
SP didn't face an offense as balanced as LH? Are you serious with that comment?
Let me see....a few teams come to mind....Servite-Pac 5 semifinalist, Crespi-Pac 5 finalist, Culver City-#1 seeded team in D3. All these teams ran balanced spread offenses that put points on the board and also with a couple of D1 recruits to deal with as well.
Fullerton's D in no way can match the SP D. As much as I like LH, SP wins a match-up. As someone said, SP has faced the likes of LH this year but LH hadn't faced the likes of SP.
this is all that needs to be said
bigruss you idiot, alot of people are looking for Jared Morales, an el rancho transfer, to be a big contributor on next years St Paul team... and Jared Morales is not a catholic.... I guess Jared is weak and he should not waste his time at St Paul since he doesnt have the approval of people like you.
El Don,
I know those boys personally too. In fact I get to hang out with them every weekend. You get to sit home and drink beer and put more inches on your belly. They do regret missing out on "The Ship". They talk about it every time I see them.
quick question does anyone who knows football really think pioneer?, whittier?, and hahahaha whittier christian? could beat La Mirada i dont care what there record is
Stop kidding yourself Football Fan,
To be quite honest I give (Guadalahabra) no chance to put up points with the defense that St.Paul has. You will need to come very prepared to play hard hitting football. Just ask your coach. Our games might not have the flash everyone is looking for, but we do win and that’s the bottom line… If you would even try to compete in our level you would be at the bottom of the division every year. Now that you have won a CIF title (VII) make that jump I dare you.
Just look at what we accomplished this year. We shut down Quartz Hill, Culver City, Gahr and Palmdale (Talk about offense)
i think la habra has no chance at competiting at the level st paul plays at yea they went undefeated but who did they play ...whoever said if la habra played st paul it would be like the pats against the bears is out of there mind st paul is known for what ?!football people........ when la habra won there championships what division were they in IX wow what great competition st paul would have went undefeated for repeated seasons playin the teams la habra played... im not hatin on la habra but look at the teams st paul plays and look at the teams la habra played even though st pauls preseason schedule has been kinda weak the past 3 season starting with the 05/06 team but other than that dont put la habra in the same category with st paul not for a long time...............GO BIG BLUE c/o 05'
just wanted to say SP would beat LH!!1
any discussion??
To those making silly comments about ER's Aldecoa & Galan, I know both of those boys personally and the truth is though they may have missed their chance at a ring, contrary to popular belief they are'nt losing any sleep at having left SP.They still have alot of friends there and are happy for them. Both of those boys are true competitors and they just are'nt the type to stand on the sidelines for two seasons.Had they stayed Galan would never have gotten in at RB and the coaches were'nt to fond of his defensive skills.Aldecoa would have been relegated to blocking the majority of the time for Sonic and he would'nt even have gotten a sniff on defense.By going to the Ranch both of them excelled in all aspects of the game and helped turn around a program that was at the bottom of the barrel. You can bet that come spring training both of these boys will be ready to take their team to the next level. They have played with each other for almost eight years and they would love nothing more than to prove all their critics wrong and end their high school careers as winners (ring or not). Another thing you ill informed people might not know is that Aldecoa is one of the best baseball players in the area and has an excellent chance at getting scholarship in that sport. It makes more sense to go and play for probably the best school in the whole area if not one of the best in their division. In the end they will see they made the right decission and the one that could possibly miss them the most would be SP. I know their baseball team will miss Aldecoa's bat and glove.
HEY ALL YOU WANNABE SWORDSMEN -FUTURE TRANSFERS FROM EL SANCHO- YOU ARE ALL WEAK!!! YOU JUST WANT TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH CHAMPIONS AND NOW YOU WANT TO COME IN..WHY NOT COME IN AS A FROSH AND PUT YOUR TIME IN. YOUR PROBABLY NOT EVEN CATHOLIC. REMEMBER A TRUE SWORDSMEN COMMITS TO 4 YEARS. THEY JUST DONT COME OVER HERE BECAUSE THEIR DADDYS NOW SOMEONE FROM THE BOOSTERS OR BECAUSE THERE TEAM DIDN'T DO SO GOOD OR A FAMILY MEMBER IS NO LONGER A COACH- SO THEIR CONNECTION IS GONE. TRUE ST. PAUL PLAYERS KNOW WHATS UP AND THEY STICK TOGETHER. ALWAYS REMEMBER THE GRASS IS NOT ALWAYS GREENER.
THIS IS THE TRUTH SO DONT GET ALL BENT OUT OF SHAPE.
Once again, let me remind you all that everyone on La Habra's Varsity football team played this year. There were plenty of sophomores, juniors and more than a few freshmen running around having fun.. Next year, St. Paul will be playing from the horizontal confessional!! Be careful what you wish for.. How many seniors are you losing??? Give me a break...
I agree with hsfootball fan...and others, the poll is meaningless....If it backs your opinion, you like it...if it doesn't, you disagree...in some cases, you like only one part of the poll because it agrees with your lonely opinion...
I'm not really a La Habra fan, but they proved it on the field by going undefeated. No other school in the area accomplished that most difficult feat. No one! It's very, very hard to win EVERY week.
First off, La Habra would kill St.Paul this year. And what sucks is that I don't want to see them play next year - I want to see these teams play THIS YEAR. But it would never happen. I don't understand when people say "Well then we will schedule them next year" thats stupid! They will both be two totally different teams next year. I just feel that La Habra is a much better team all around then St. Paul. It would be like the Patriots (La Habra) vs the Bears (St.Paul) - La Habra is going to score points, and I don't think that St.Paul will be able to run on La Habra and if they can't run - they're in serious trouble (QB is awful along with the offense they run - I can honestly say that the St.Paul games are the most boring games to watch). La Habra can do both at an extremely high level. St. Paul just doesn't have the play calling and the offense to hang with them, but hey this is just my opinion. So St.Paul fans don't get all hurt you still won a championship - I just don't think that your better than La Habra that's all.
And for Joe from Pioneer, they barely squeaked a win against an overrated El Rancho team (and they should of lost) and they beat La Serna when Jordan didn't play the second half (when he was in playing both offense and defense in the first half they were losing 21-10, but when he got hurt and sat out the second half to get ready for the playoffs that's when Pioneer came back) so that's not a legitamate win for me. So they really only won one game in league - big deal! And now you expect them to be right in the thick of things - I don't think so. Santa Fe and El Rancho should be ahead of Pioneer.
ER beat Cal. You played better that night. Put more of those games together and your win count will climb.
Then give you a chance to banter the rest of us (like the SP crowd). For now, find some more victories then you can pop off. Merry Christmas. Maybe Santa will give you a better football team in 2008.
cover it up all you want murray. This has campa/murray written all over it. Pathetic! they should have been like this
la habra
st. paul
cantwell
any middle school
schurr
then the weak del rio league teams
El Rancho.....
As much as I bash the writers at the WDN I've got to defend on this one. This poll was not done by the WDN but by calpreps.com. Or did you bother to read the posting?
These rankings are just opionions of other just like you and me, but they do take into account difficulty of schedule.
I would for sure have SP over La Habra!!! SP would BEAT La Habra, FOR SURE...I dont think Pioneer or Whittier are better than SF or ER that where this poll loses its creditbility with me...SF played a harder schedule is beat them both on the field and ER beat SF so...that just doesnt make sense to me...
So besides SP being ranked over La Habra as it should be!!!
the rest of the poll doesn't really mean much.
Pioneer should be right there. They were playing the best football at the end of the season, to bad they didnt make playoffs. Im surprised to see Whittier ranked ahead of Santa Fe and El Rancho. Next year for sure the Titans will be in the postseason, Palacios, Botello, Ramirez, and 3 offensive linemen returning. Cant wait until next season.
Don't know much about La Habra, but nice choice picking the Division III 2007 Champs. I think you will see the representation on the all area teams soon from both these teams merits them being one and two. The question always is record, strength of schedule, and rankings outside of WDN.
Maybe in the coming years these school can play each other and let time decide the better program.
I hope coach G and Jimenez the best next year and the years to come.
These rankings are a joke.... Whittier ranked above SF when SF beat them to end the season, El Rancho's win over league champ cal hi means nothing i guess... You whittier daily writers cannot be taken seriously.
