Week 13: and then there were three.
Fullerton's impressive 26-0 over Schurr in Friday night's CIF-SS, Southeast Division water-logged semifinal playoff Mgame reduces the number of area participates in the tournament to three - La Habra and California, which play each other tonight, and St. Paul, which will face Gahr in the Western Division tonight.
Not exactly sure what was proven in Schurr's loss, other than Fullerton played better than the Spartans in the slop. Fullerton's Michael Allain was impressive, with his agillity and refusal to go down, but it appeared the Spartans defenders, who often had in him their grasp, had difficulty closing the deal as they slipped off his body. And that's not an excuse, rather just an observation.
The difference in the game was at the line of scrimmage. Fullerton's line appeared to adjust to the the slippery footing more easily in giving Allain an opening just big enough (it didn't take much, he's listed at only 5-10, 165 pounds), and he did the rest once he got into the secondary.
Schurr's Raul Pintado was met too often at the LOS by Fullerton defenders, and that took a toll.
To his credit, despite the pounding he was taking, he never quit trying on even one of his 21 carries (for 68 yards).
As for which is the best team, tough to say. Need to see them in dryer conditions. Fullerton adjusted to the conditions more easily and clearly was better Friday night.
More to come on this later.

If you transferred your kid to Montebello.. HE WOULD BE THE ONLY ONE TO GO... But look on the bright side he may get off the sidelines and on the field with the Oilers, and get to see first hand when we kick their BUTTS AGAIN NEXT YEAR!!!!!
Anonymous,
So do you believe that La Serna would have been in the same situation this year if Jordan would have stayed at Schurr?
Anonymous 2,
i'm very curious to hear from all the players and coaches that want jordan back at la serna!!! i will gladly eat my words if i'm wrong, but i k now i'm not!!!!
"The Fan",
Give me a break, how can you single out St. Paul's fans; crazy parents resided ever where, they belong to all schools. I don't agree with how some get way too carried away, but it happens all across this country, it's the bad side of High School football. That being said, do you have anything else to cry about St. Paul, other than the fact you are hating. Please get off the "transfer" boat, SP made the semi-finals last year; their improving to the final was just a progression helped out by Kids who knew they wanted to be part of a better school and program. I can't quote you educational figures or state rankings on which schools have the best curriculum for education but I know this much, my Kids were reading and writing in Kindergarten at a Parochial school, when my neighbors' Kids weren't in public schools. This is a site about high school football and if you want to start teaching lessons about life maybe you should start by showing some respect for yourself and writing something positive, lead by example, or did losing a high school football game to St. Paul scar you for life. I had to write to you because, I'm embarrassed for you Bro; you sound like a grown man crying. I bet that only a small percent of the players (from all the area schools) even read or blog on this site, it's the parents, family and friends; just like you and me, who do all the writing on this site. Trashing a school and it's fan base on a website, is just as bad as trashing talking in a parking lot, only difference being you hide at home. This site is starting to get clogged by too many "has been" or "never was" high school players who played 5, 10, 15, 20 years ago and miss their glory days of High School. You try and punk SP parents for sending their Kids to a better system than the public system; you are piss poor and need to choose a different battle than attacking a Catholic school.
Go SP!!! "Play Like A Champion Today"
Anonymous on December 6, 2007 7:11
First off, don't start rumors that La Serna doesn't want Mr. Jordan back - ask all the players and coaches if thats true. I know that some kids won't play next year if he doesn't come back. And just for clarification he doesn't want the Schurr job at all - who would? These seniors are the last of the good athletes at Schurr. Coach Dick made a good move. And if you want to lose send your kid to Montebello. That'll be a great four years of never making the playoffs and always losing to Schurr. Any smart player would want to play for Jordan he teaches the kids football and gives them the fire they need to succeed not only in football but in life. "Whatever It Takes" My son was part of the CIF Championship team he coached at Schurr last year, and he said Coach Jordan was the best coach he ever had. And I have only heard good things from all the other parents and players from all the teams he has coached. And guess what he wins! He knows what it takes, theres not many coaches in the area that has as much coaching and playing experience as him. Now would you want your son playing for a coach that is proven or not? I'm so glad he came to Schurr and coached my son. And I know that La Serna kids are too, even though Rudy and Coach Jordan would have been playing this week against a good La Habra team if they would have stayed. He took an average La Serna team to the second round of the playoffs who without him I don't think they would have even made the playoffs considering how competitive the DRL was this year. So please if you don't know a person personally and don't know all the facts don't be a bunch of women and spread false rumors, just keep you mouth shut!
To whom it may concern: The perfect fit for new Shurr coach is standing on the sideline at Santa Fe! Coach Campbell has played the game and understands the game. He came out of high school at Santa Fe and went to Mount Sac then played ball at Iowa State going to 2 bowl games in 3 seasons. Coach Campbell then came back to Santa Fe where he is held back under coach Mahlstead. I believe he would do a great job!
OMG..please stop the crying. I admire SP and all the history it has brought to the area. I am only sad to see a game called a championship being played in a place the is limiting to the local fan base. Everyone else is playing at a field that allows a larger fan base.
I guess SP can only play the championship game in front their own fans and not a larger audience.
I figure the larger venue would allow SP to help their recruiting. But maybe that doesn't matter they have their own way of doing that.
Just a mom,
Funny how things look when the shoe is on the other foot don’t you think? Where was all the class from Cal High bloggers over the past few years??? Santa Fe made it to the finals last year for the first time in school history and yet these blogs were filled with Cal fans talking trash because they lost to Schurr. Actually the LH fans have shown so much class this year after being screwed out of their league title from Fullerton for in ineligible player. They have all pretty much been quiet and let their team do the talking unlike all the Cal fans that flooded these blogs calling SF a bunch of rat, cry babies and a bunch of other names. The Cal fans could learn a few things from the LH fans.
Good luck LH! And to Coach A – great season at Cal. It was a pleasure to watch you take this team over this year and much luck to you guys in the future. SF and Cal had some great games on all 3 levels this year and I cant wait to see what the future brings.
Hey Anonymous,
Some parents select there son's high school based on preparing them for life and graduating from college. With that in mind, NO parents in considering that would ever select St. Paul. Uncreditaled teachers? Are you kidding me! I watched you play a few times and the way your fans acted in threatening the coach and having to be lead out of the stadium by police was embarassing and then singing "hey, hey good bye" was another classy move at the Gahr game that almost caused a huge fight in the parking lot. When this game is over and I hope you win, but win or lose, why don't you try to show some class. You always talk about SP being the only team that plays the "Big Boys" you just beat a team that La Serna played 2 years ago and is in the same conference as Warren who both SF and LS played and Warren made to the playoffs in your "Big Boy Conference". Parents who select SP for there football program, kindly let me know where your players from last year's team went on to play in college on scholarship and where are they going from this year's team? I am sure it is only a few and the two good players where not even at your school until this year. The best players in DRL couldn't play at SP? You have to be joking. Take Haynes and Flores off your team and are not playing for the last 3 weeks anyway. I will take the better education and you can have your fifteen minutes of glory.
Chad:
Your beef is with Del Rio League Fan, not Clan Man. Posters names are located underneath their comments. SP fan had it right.
"DRL FAN"
I can't believe your going to come on here and talk smack about "The Pit". How dare you, "The Pit" has become a home for the past and present Swordsmen for many years. We take pride in our school it may not have the greatest facility but it's our home! When our Swordsmen get ready to play any game they know, taking that warm up run over the "Sword" they are paying their respects to past Swordsmen to watch over them protecting, giving them strength, courage to fight & blessings to play that game!
We are playing the best game of our season where it should be played in our house, "The Pit"! Our boys wouldn't want it any other way!
I'm sorry you never experienced that type of tradition and homecoming at whatever high school you attended. Please go to Fullerton, watch the La Habra game; SP does not need your presence in our "PIT"!
I want to wish La Habra and St Paul the BEST of luck this weekend.
I am so tired of hearing people talk so much. La Habra you beat us, not just beat us you spanked us. But we did get to the semi finals and we are proud of our team and our coaches. Have some class La Habra. The talk from some of the parents is how much class Coach Arnold has and how great he talked about you guys. How about just a little class here on the blogs. Show some maturity and let your game against us speak for you. You played great now don't spoil it.
that is one of the funniest things i have ever heard if you are talkling about j. jordan coming back to schurr!!! if the administration and AD would even consider him i will lose a lot of respect for that school. how can you let a guy that turned his back on his high school? he doesnt care about anyone but himself!!!!! and im still waiting to see the posts from la serna high school!!! they dont want him back but you think he should be the next head coach at SHS!!!!! as sad as it is i will transfer my kid to montebello h.s if he gets it....and my kid wont be the only one that transfers
del rio league fan,
Where will you be watching a playoff team from the del rio league? OH thats right....you wont!
We'll let you join the bandwagon its okay. murray and campa are joinin, why not you? St. Paul will be more than glad to let you sit in a stadium where you can actually watch good football.
DRL fan
you would think the drl would be humbled after SP and La Habra embarassed two of their teams. (SP vs ER 35-0; LH vs CH 44-0). Then again, since you cant find anything to pick on when it comes to our football program, you drift your attention to our stands. Its ok, we'll let you pick on our facilities, since our program and our tradition are untouchable next to yours.
Hey Clan Man,
Go watch your game in the O.C. where you belong. You can't handle the fact that a bunch of undersized kids that hit harder than anyone in the area are in the BIG GAME. I am so tired of all these fools on here wolfin their crap about the DRL and La Habra. Why don't these schools try and play a schedule like SP. Let's see how good you really are.
Why is it you all complain about transfers. SP has lost a few over the years. We can't help it if this little school in the springs gets more D1 exposure than any school in the area. How many D1 prospects come out of DRL. Don't count Grigsby because he made his name at SP. Last but not least when have you local teams played a pac 5 team recently. SP played 3 this year and hung with 2 out 3. Now What!!!!!!!!!
Now that there is an opening at Shurr, who is will fill the void?
Rumor has it that an old coach wants to come back and apply for the position. and I am not talking about Mayoral.
Did I see the transfer Qb from South Hills in before the half in last friday's game against Gahr?
Anonymous (which ever one you are)
And what league do you follow? You pop off like that and don’t even stand up for your league but just throw your low blow and run! Let’s see…..it’s all about the Freeway league, right? No doubt they have done well in the playoffs this year and who knows where they would have been as a league had Troy not had to forfeit. But wasn’t it the DRL that sent 4 team into the playoffs with one making it on STRENGTH of schedule for the at-large spot? Two of those teams had to be taken into overtime before bowing out in the first round and one making it to the semi finals before losing to the TRUE number one in the division. Sounds to me like the DRL teams represented our league pretty well.
Where were you last year or did you not like what happened thus changing you name to anonymous this year? Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t it a DRL team that knocked two of the Freeway league entries out of the playoffs last year including the mighty undefeated Troy Warriors? La Habra is having an amazing season. Best of luck to you! And I agree with an earlier post in that the league title should be put up as well for this game because that co-champion thing is a farce. And here’s to whishing both teams stay injury free.
Enjoy it while you can!!!!
DRL Fan:
Doesn't bother us to watch a game at The Pit.
But if you want to go watch LH. More power to you. We aren't forcing you to go to The Pit.
That'll be a good game. Heck, if that game was on a different night I'd be there too.
Del Rio League Fan,
Yeah come and watch us! We waxed your weak Del Rio league team! Del Rio League is a joke....
Why play a CIF championship in a place called "The Pit".
How about the "Pits". I want to watch SP play this week. But, I think I'll go to a better facility and watch La Habra at Fullerton College.
SP, play better in a better place and allow fans to see your (so called great) team play.
If it rains on Friday it will be the "Pits" having to walk a mile to sit in the "cracker box".
Next time the schedule makers at the CIF should understand "fan friendly".
Hey Catholic Football Fan,
You are right about one thing, that public schools within the Santa Fe Springs/Whittier area should take care of their athletic programs and their athletes so that they don't lose their athletes to private schools. You have students who transfer because they want to play more than one sport and in public school they usually frown on that. You have coaches and athletic directors that are still there year after year and don't really change anything to upgrade their programs. Head Coaches end up hiring want-to-be coaches who've never played the sport, just for the sake of friendship. (You all know who you are.) Parents and students are getting tired of it all and are getting smarter by choosing to transfer their sons and daughters out of their public school and into a private one. The truth always hurts.
What happened to the all mighty Del Rio League? Weren't you guys flooding the blogs. I am still waiting for you to post how good your league is. By the way, what time does any team play in the finals. OOPS! Thats right, you aren't in the playoffs.
Congratulations to past and present Swordsmen. First to the current St. Paul team on the big win against Gahr. Good luck this weekend. Secondly to the former Swordsmen La Habra head Coash Frank Mazzotta, St Paul class of 1986. Good luck to you and your team as well.
Catholic football fan,
how can u say its a two way street when private schools ( looking at st. paul) recruit every year ? and this year el rancho got two from ya this year and thats going probably going to stop but yet st. paul recruit every year.
it a one way street. ER is home grown kids and most of our talented kids get recruited by st paul bishop amat
so i dont get ur point but your true about getting ur business done.
never went undefeated myself.
What a game SP vs Gahr! The offense and defense played smart hard football and Won! I can't wait for Friday Night. Coach G has truly surprised and impressed me with the different offensive formations he's run the past two games. First the three back formation against CC and then the no huddle passing game against Gahr. In fact the passing really surprised Gahr's HC, which he commented on in the Press Telegram Newspaper on Sun. Dec. 2nd. He said something to this effect " the weird thing is the thing (passing) we were least concerned about, ended up beating us last night." Go SP!!
Where is the St. Paul/Palmdale gamegoing to be played?
at St.Paul or Cerritos College?
Anonymous
I’m sure the refs did a good job but in every game things get missed and imo that one got missed. And it’s not like I have to try and recall it from memory because the video is right there and you can clearly see the guard moving prior to the snap of the ball. Funny thing is that I first saw the play on one of the TV sports shows on Sunday as a highlight and thought to myself that the line was moving and to see the video to me confirmed it. Did they huddle prior to the play? I wasn’t there and I am assuming so since the previous play went out of bounds and stopped the clock.
Either way that is the fun of debate and like I said it probably wouldn’t have mattered. And as a LH grad already with a ring…..what is my team doing this Friday? Oh yeah, that’s right. They are playing for the ring as well!!!!!!!
Shifts and False Starts
ARTICLE 4. a. If a snap is preceded by a huddle or shift, all players of the
offensive team must come to an absolute stop and remain stationary in their
positions, without movement of the feet, body, head or arms, for at least one
full second before the ball is snapped (A.R. 7-1-4-I) [S20].
I couldn't be more proud of our St Paul Swordsmen! Our boys have worked really hard to get where they are today. Saturday's game was a perfect example of that! As much as Gahr tried to push us down we came back fighting harder and harder, Gahr did not have a chance you could see it from the stands that St. Paul was NOT going home quietly, without a fight!
Even the friends and family of the players were right behind them showing their support by cheering, yelling, and stomping their feet. There was even one crazy fan who got up ran in front of the stands waving a St Paul banner and had us cheering "We Are St Paul". (She happen to be my sister, even as an alumni from St Joseph High School she had Blue Pride in her heart).
On Friday night we will be playing our best game ever, in a place where it should be played... THE PIT!!!! I want to wish our boys the BEST of LUCK! and remember always...
"Hail to the Swordsmen Valiant,
Hail to the conquering Heros,
Hail, Hail to ST Paul High Champions of the World!!"
-Once a Swordsmen Always a Swordsmen in tradition we live and die by the sword!
I am not a graduate of SP, but I have gone to most of their games (my daughter is a student). What amazes me is that they are playing teams that are bigger and taller than they are and sometimes more talented. But they continue to win or stay in the game (crespi). What they have is heart, they play hard and never give up. Maybe this is why kids want to play at SP. Don't bash them learn from them.
Friar guy,
where have you gone??? home more than likely, St. Paul is the finals and Servite is more than welcome to come back to "The Pit" to watch us play, since you lost last week.
Seeing how the Freeway league was awarded to both La Habra and Fullerton with a coin flip due to the cancellation of the game between the two during the fires, how about not only placing the CIF SE Division title on the table but also the Freeway League champ title?
This is a shout out to Football Fan anyone with half a brain knows that coach G & the coaching staff deserve credit too! Whether you like him & his staff or not is irrelevant. They are grown men who could care less what any of you "haters" think! The young men that they coach & the true fans that represent St Paul are enjoying every minute of our success & giving credit where credit is due GET OVER IT because we are going to the BIGSHOW!!!
Win or lose we have a chance because...
"WE ARE ST PAUL"...GO SWORDSMEN!!! WE BELIEVE!!!
P.S. Why don't you take some spelling classes before you decide to write on the World Wide Web...
Let's break this transfer nonsense down. It's week 14 and I don't think the players we all call transfers feel like transfers. They are part of their teams and will always remember their years with each team. St. Paul, Bishop Amat,Servite,Mater Dei,Cathedral,St. John Bosco,Don Bosco Tech to name a few do not have a city to call home. They call all the surrounding area's their home. If the whole Santa Fe HS football team transfered to St. Paul would that be right? St. Paul is in Santa Fe Springs. Yes It is an advantage to pull good players from all areas and it pisses people off but thats why they pair most catholic schools in the same league. When St. Paul plays Amat I look at it as the Whittier,La Mirada,Pico area catholic talent vs the Hacienda,La Puente,Covina catholic talent. I personally played at a Whitmont league school (now the Del Rio) and am proud to say we went undefeated to take league while at El Rancho. All I cared about was beating my area teams. I run into area opponents out in the world 20 years later and rub it in their face (for fun). So area schools stop worrying about losing kids to private schools. Take care of business at your school and players won't leave you. Don't forget St. Paul lost 3 good players to El Rancho and La Mirada so it's a 2 way street. Any kid can leave SP at any time so they better take care of their business. It looks good for SP's future. Players just want to play for a serious program. Don't get crazy over my comment's it's just my personal opinion.
La Habra vs St. Paul
These two schools have not played in recent mememory and are way over due for a match-up. I'm not sure they have played each other at all. These are the two best football programs in the area. Coahes, AD's, Principals, Murray, Anybody ...Please...Somebody make this happen.
saint paul has tried to schedule pretty much everyone in the area, but most don't want to play

Just asking.....;
On TD winning score SP went on quick count.
What you see is everyone going and stepping foward, while GHS is getting set.
Most people at the game agreed on a sound and fair job during the whole game by the CIF SS Officials.
Keep in mind SPHS has transfers in from '05, '06 Semi Finalist along with '07's, with enough skill position depth for two teams. Most starters are 4 year, while some are 3 & 2 year, with only two 1st year senior SWORDSMEN.
Once a SWORDSMEN always a SWORDSMAN.
Great effort SWORDSMEN.
Bring home another CIF Championship!
Beat Palmdale!
Just asking.....
Give me a f'in break.
You know, say what you want. We really don't care anymore.
By the way, what is your team doing this Friday night? Oh yeah, that's right, NOTHING!
Wow, 2 area teams in the CIF finals?
I bet everyone is wondering what we put in the water up here!
Congrats to La Habra and St. Paul. Do us all proud this weekend!
Once a Swordsmen always a Swordsmen
Winning wasn’t good enough huh, you still found something to cry about. Stop worrying about the photographers and the press and just be happy that certain kids suddenly up and chose to come to SP and that SP’s staff has managed to stumble and bumble their way into the finals.
YOU MAKE THE CALL! I think the ref’s missed one. Was it just me or was SP’s line not set on that last scoring play. I have looked at the video posting on WDN and you can clearly see the left side of the line going down to get set when the ball is snapped. The guards hand never touches the ground but yet he’s moving down to get in a 3-piont stance. Look it over and see what you think.
Would it have made a difference? You just never know………..just like we’ll never know where SP would have been this year without their transfers!!!
Congrats to SP and La Habra, I agree with what everybody is saying the best two teams in the area are in the final game on Friday night.
Swordsmen were so proud of you and to our awesome coaching staff job well done. We have always beleived in our kids and staff. Play with your hearts and keep the focus on Friday night.
We are St. Paul!!!
P.S. please do not listen to the hater, their still here just trying to cause havoc. We have made it to the big show.
St. Paul vs. Gahr was a great game, and as a St.Paul fan I was elated to see St. Paul come back using the passing game. However, while I do appreciate the results, I think there were some coaching errors on both sides. After St. Paul passed and had the ball 1st./10 at the 50 w/4:30 left. Why not go to the running game? You have a guy who, every time he touches the ball, picks up 4 yards. Pass on 3rd or 4th. if necessary but slipping on your own 40 left it 2nd. and 20. The next play resulted in an interception and almost doomed the Swordsmen. St. Paul should have run and drive the ball for all it was worth score and eliminate the clock by not giving the ball back to Gahr with time left. If it wasn't for some shodding coaching from Gahr they most likely could have run the clock out winning it 14 - 11.
Why Gahr passed and stopped the clock was a gift to St. Paul. Their staff made a key error in deciding to pass with time running out.
Be that as it may St. Paul's QB looked like John Elway in the final drive with Haynes running it in from the 2. Wow! What a treat to watch.
Congratulations to La Habra and St. Paul. There is nothing like Championship Week at a high school and it brings pride and joy to the community. I also want to commend the coaches, parents, volunteers and students from both schools for showing class, pride and playing good strong football.
Finally, kudos to Cal High and Schurr for very successful seasons and remember the wins and the good times...it may be hard now but as you get older you will remember the league wins ...they can't take away the memories.
Where is Friday night game?
Is Haynes a Senior?
GO SP!!!!!!
Wow! Our family is so proud of our Swordsmen and Coaching staff. Win or lose, we are already so proud of your hard work and determination and how far you have come.
While its sad that some take their frustrations for a lost game or a perceived bad call out on these boards, or are arrogant enough to think that they could have done it better, the truth it, the victories that St Paul have had belong to EVERYONE on that field, and I do mean the outstanding talent and discipline of those young men, and the coaches that lead them. No where else will you see the level of the support from parents and families like you do at St Paul.
Spoiled brats? Please! Say what you want, but our Swordsmen and Coaches are doing something right.
And yes, we can get mad at each other, because you know what? Thats what great families do, because after all, We Are St Paul! We are the Mighty Swordsmen!
Truth be told: No area team belongs on the same field as La Habra or St Paul. Thank you to all the haters who made our trip to the CIF finals that much more delightful. Can't wait til all the talk about 'next year' starts.
Where are the photos for the SP vs Gahr game. Did all your photographers go to there beloved Cal HS game. Someone said Murray take tips from The Press Telegram. I agree. And Campa. Learn how to post game interview. sad sad sad.
Yo Roger,
You might want to take a look, and report on, the teams Calpreps has lined up as possible shoe ins to represent the South in the State Bowl Championship Series. Yes, it may be too soon. Teams have to finish CIF games prior to the commission picking the teams. One of the requirements is that the team has to win their CIF Division.
La Habra is the number 4 team eligible in Division 2 bracket, where enrollment of the school is between 1100 and 2400. Crespi in number 1. If Crespi loses to LB Poly, that leaves two San Diego area teams with losses on their record, before they get to La Habra. Pretty interesting. Obviously, La Habra has to get past Fullerton to be considered.
Then in the Division 3 bracket with schools' ennrollment from 0 to 1100 has St. Paul number 3 behind St. Bonaventure and Oaks Christian.
Congrats to La Habra and St. Paul.
St. Paul offensive coaches and players finally paid all the defensive players and staff by stepping up and coming form behind.
First, give credit to the SP coaching staff, well done, form shutting down the Gahr offense and QB (#1 in the state and #2 in the country in passing yards) and the offensive staff for going no-huddle in the 4th quarter.
Next to the players. Defensively once again shut down another great offense holding Gahr to 14 points, they were avg about 40ppg., Flores, Marshall, Rosenthal, Gallegos, Lopez, Hernandez, everybody great jog defensively.
Offensively, WOW!! Lopez matured before our very eyes and led this team back. Although he has been suspect all year he stepped up when it counted the most and thats all that matters now. Haynes, DeDios, and Garcia great job again...
1 more game, 4 more quarters, 48 more minutes, get that RING!!
GO SP!!
DEAR ST. PAUL FOOTBALL,

Finally, to Coach Pete. We are all very proud of you!
Just wanna congratulate the boys for taking it to the house of GAHR and shutting down the top qb in the state. Win one for for the gipper and GET YOUR RING SENIORS!
By the way, the videos of football games by Murray & co have been fantastic, specially this last one from last night that I just watched... You guys do a great job and please come video it next week cause we'll have a CHAMPION in our MIDSTS!!! GO SWORDSMEN!!!!
Does this mean the St. Paul fans are going to stop acting like a bunch of spoiled brats and support the coaches and the kids. All I here is all these people acting like fans and complaining. I guess it turns out St. Paul is not going to hell and a hand basket after all. You complainers are pathetic. Show some class. Set an example for your kids. congrats to the St. Paul kids and coaching staff.
I would love to see all of the bloggers that have posted bad reviews on St. Paul coaching staff step up and tell us your thoughts on the coaching staff now. St. Paul is making you eat your words. Gotta love it.
SPHS -18 GHS-14
once again St Paul facing a team with an excellent quarterback with an impressing throwing arm and able to make the defense miss tacles. leading the state of california and number#2 in the nation in passing. but tonight he seems just like any regular quarterback trying to figure out the other team's defense, St paul's defense was constantly putting pressured at the quarterback from all directions which took him out of game plan or made him scramble out of position sure he completed short passes but nothing over 20 yards. StPaul defense was also able to stop their running game. I think what won it for St Paul was being able to shift to the passing game, with 1:51 in fourth quarter. from then on paul lopez took control and drove his team down the field with ease. he himself made some good disition in running for the first down when it was apperant his recievers were cover. not forcing it, and stopping the clock by running out of bounds. then making a perfect throw to one of his recievers in Garh's six yard line. next play the reliable Aubrey Haynes carried two defenders with him into the end zone. TOUCHDOWN!!. Gahr got the ball back with 25 seconds but could not do nothing with it. for me the whole team disurbe the game ball, both the offense, defense and especially to all the coaches for preparing the players for yet another game. (back to back games) real tought ones. GOOD LUCK IN THE FINALS!!
Roger,
The game of the year was already played. If you were a real sports writer you would know that. The game was SP and Bishop Amat. The game went 3 OT's. I forgot you did not even write the game up. Why does the Del Rio league teams get alot more exposure. Their league is competitive but the league is equivalent to D6 or D7. SP plays a way harder schedule. I would like to see Cal Hi play their schedule. Look what La Habra did to them. You should take some sports writing tipos from the Press-Telegram.
D not give coach G any credit for the win, it was all #12 running the no huddle offence leading his Swordsmen to victory. Coach G should give him the oppertunity to show what he can do!!!
Wow! What a game. SP played like champions and never gave up! Go out and get that ring! Division III Western conference championship at "THE PIT"??? Go SP.
FINALLY THE OFFENSE SHOWED A COMEBACK SIDE KUDOS TOO THE OFFENSE AND A PERFECT GAME PLAN, GAHR LOOKED LOST ON DEFENSE IN THE FOURTH QUARTER. KUDOS TO COACH G FOR PLAN B ATTACK EVEN WOODY HAYES IS SMILING!!!!!!!GO BIG BLUE!!!!
