St. Paul boys surprise entry for postseason

| | Comments (15) |

With a record of 11-14 a year ago and no senior leadership, it would have been reasonable to figure this a rebuilding year for St. Paul's boys basketball team.
The Swordsmen accepted the challenge, however, and Monday night clinched a berth in the CIF-SS postseason playoffs by finishing second in the Camino Real League.
Memories are hazy concerning the last time St. Paul finished second, but the trip to to the tournament is the first since 2002.
"“This has been a tremendous effort by these guys,” Coach Robert Miller said. “They have brought St. Paul (boys) basketball back to some measure of respect."

What's with you two guys?

You both should get it over with, and go out on a date. Release some of that tension.

pablo adamo ,

Just another mouth in my book. If you want to know what people think of you, just ask. I promise you won't like what you read. You sit here and spew all your thoughts knowing nobody is going to listen. It would be convincing to put a face to the mouth. But that takes guts and we all know that you don't have that.
As for a cup of coffee , I don't think so. How about 7 years and 2 pro bowls sound to you. Something I know you never experienced.
Finally the only dim -wit here is you. Your trying to come off as this super educated, mild manner person who is superior to everyone else. I guess that you forgot to take common sense 101 at Chico State of the Dumb and Blind. You should change your handle to Bobby Boucher (pronounced in the French fashion as "Boo-SHAY")Peace out!

I apologize to the SPHS B-ball, supporters. I didn't realize that my posting would attract ignorance from the LBC.

S. vaughn,

The S must stand for scholar. Me being the last pick in P.E. class, and being a non-athlete is just your own ignorant speculation. I happen to be a former BIG SKY honorable mention pick, but yet again, not the point. Whether you believe me or not means nothing.

A message board isn't where people make a difference, or "do something about it," it's where they offer congratulations, criticism or just share their thoughts. I did all three in my original post.

Most everyone on this post uses an alias, so I guess kudos on yet another bogus point, S. Vaughn.

This whole tit for tat is embarrassing. Either make a counter point, or say something original when you respond to someone's post. Your whole pointless bashing, and unfounded speculation just makes you look moronic.

It's great that you played at Poly, and the PAC-10. Who knows, maybe you even had a cup of coffee in the NFL, but please, leave this blog and all others to people who can actually write, not to mention those who can read critically and process information. I played with some real dim- wits from Poly and Jordan in college, so I shouldn't be surprised about where you're from.

Over and out, simpleton. Don't bother responding because I'm not even trying to prolong your nonsense. Just think about it Monday morning when you ride the short bus to work.

p.s. Again sorry to all SPHS B-ball supporters, it's a great thing to qualify both boys and girls for CIF playoffs.

What do the Pablo blogs have to do with the success of the basketball program at SP this year. Cant you find another entry to litter up with this BS. How about some kudos to the boys program and its Coach, who has led both the boys and girls into the CIF playoffs this year. Is this a first in High School history? So Pablo bashers start up your own blog section, lets hear it for SPHS Basketball. Boys and Girls. GO SWORDSMEN!!!!!

Pablo Adamo ,
Once again ,NO CREDIBILITY!
Anyone who has to talk garbage behind a silly screen name has no credibility. It's funny that you have all the answers to everything and you sit there and do nothing about it. Pretty much sounds like your whole athletic career.
Also going by a screen name just means that your afraid that people might realize that your nothing but a imposter. A nobody ,non-athlete,crybaby,last pick in P.E. class. It's not personal, it's because your afraid.
I just have a feeling that your just bitter. Get a life or get a real name. Peace out!

Pablo Adamo said:

S.Vaughn,

Yes, I did talk about Coach A, I believe I called him a state legend. No one continues in their prime forever, even someone who was a Poly jack rabbit and Pac-10 player can admit that, right? Not even a state legend and all time winningest coach can. And no, my name is not Wargo, or Willig, not blessed with those kind of super human genes.

The reason I go by the handle Pablo Adamo is so things won't get personal. Some of you can handle that part of it as adults, some can't.

And yes, I did play football, for five years after SPHS on scholarship. But that wasn't my point in the post. The point was that St. Paul desperately needed a "RING" because the entire culture there doesn't appreciate much besides that. My indictment of SPHS academics was the facts.

I correspond with people who have had various positions on campus for the last twenty years. If you want your child to be challenged, and to be put into a position to reach and exceed their academic potential, and be around well rounded students, than SPHS isn't your best bet. That's my two cents, and that's what I wrote.

So, it's nice to get annoyed by a secondary point in a posting, but it would be nicer if you got a clue, and realized what my main opinion was. So when you speak for everyone, and say that I have no credibility, that's fine. Someone who can't decipher the proper use of "your" and "You're" has no credibility to me. Maybe you can vent about the Long Beach schools, and I'll say more power to you.

Sounds like the typical bitter ex-swordman. Get a life. You have no credibility here.
If your last name was Willig or Wargo than maybe people would listen to you.
Sounds like someone in your own family thinks that your full of garbage.
And to talk about Coach A, what have you done in your life? One thing is forsure, we all know that you did'nt play football.Get real and grow up.

Diego,

Yes, it is I, the same Pablo Adamo who played the flute in the band and then quit the football team due to a snake bite!!

If not for that Water Moccassin I would have made all CIF at middle linebacker!! None of Coach A's trainers had the antivenom I needed during hell week, the bastards.

Soccer is a communist sport, why would I even care about your allegiance to Mexican futbol?

I'll see you at the pico indoor,I shan't be disgraced by the likes of a charlatan such as you.

Viva Saint Hillary, down with Saint Paul!

Diego Adamo said:

Pablo Adamo,

Is this the same Pablo Adamo from St. Hilary? The same Pablo Adamo that was shipped out to military school in grade school? The same Pablo Adamo that was kicked out of Mater Dei and ended up at SP? Pablo I know you better than most people on this board. You were a stiff as a kid and a stiff as a person. Please do us all a favor and GET A LIFE! P.S. Mexico is better than Argentina in soccer..LOL

It is unfortunate your classmates slipped through the cracks. Perhaps it is more of a reflection on their character and work ethic as opposed to the quality of education at St. Paul. The fact is 99% of St. Paul graduates are accepted for post secondary education. With the exception of certain magnet schools, that is an incredible number compared to most public schools. Each year many, if not most, St. Paul students are accepted into prestigious universities. There are also many St. Paul graduates, recent or otherwise, who are making significant contributions to their communities as Doctors, CEO's, Police Officers, Public Officials, Etc. The demographics of the school may have changed since you were a student. Unfortunately that has caused many small minded individuals to believe the quality of education has declined. That is not true. Put sports aside. Don't listen to the hype. Take a visit of the campus. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Pablo Adamo,

If these "people" you still keep in contact with are practically illiterate, doesn't that raise flags on the local elementary and junior high schools that they attended rather than SP? Wouldn't it sound irresponsible to place sole blame on SP? School is what you make of it. I attended a very bad academic high school and I've done well for myself.

Pablo Adamo said:

Congratulations to SP on their first CIF championship in nearly thirty years. Also, congrats to David Flores and all area athletes that earned football scholarships, D-1 or otherwise. At first when I learned that SP's new coaching staff was from Cantwell I thought the pit would collapse in disgust. Seeing what SP has accomplished with a fresh coaching perspective makes me proud.

Although Coach A is a state legend, his second tenure at SP was so archaic, that he consistently handicapped his teams year after year. His offense was so pathetic, many gifted players wasted their talent playing for a stubborn old offensive mind that was still trying to get mileage out of a playbook from the 60's. If he had handed over the play calling duties to someone with guts and vision, he might still be the coach there.

Sad to hear about Aubrey Haynes, unfortunately SP has not made a commitment to hiring, and keeping, great teachers. Many athletes need someone in their ear about academics and clearinghouse requirements on a daily basis.

The enrollment has dropped steadily since the early 90's. Local junior high teachers, from Catholic schools, routinely tell their students to go to SP only if none of their top choices accept them. Going to SP was probably one of the worst choices I ever made. I've rebounded, but I would never send a child of mine there. It's too mediocre of an institution in several ways, and its accepted this, especially with admission standards. But I guess they have no choice. Many of the Swordsmen I still keep in contact with have not matured,or moved on from the idiotic mind set they developed while slaving away in the weight room underneath the PIT. Not all,but some are practically illiterate.

SP needed a CIF championship badly, because sadly, they don't have anything else going for it. For those who disagree with me, or think I'm a fool for posting this, you're in denial. If I was wrong-larger numbers of top notch students would choose to go there, and CIF Division One Football would be more than a distant memory. Peace, Sharks.

Coach Miller has done an outstanding job handling both programs at SP (boys projected 17 wins and girls projected 21 wins). He has a proven track record for the girls and now has, in a short two years, brought pride back into a spiralling boys program. His never endless dedication to the basketball community of SP has earned my vote to give Miller the Coach of the Year.

Happy for them! said:

I have seen St Paul play a couple of times this season and it is really wonderful that they made the playoffs!!

Especially proud of Steven Saenz and Jacob Garcia--these two boys LIVE basketball and they deserve all the success in the world!!

Congratulations and good luck!!
