El Rancho coach Gene Parsons spoke today about a bevy of topics regarding ER football, one was obviously the upcoming 2008 schedule. The Dons open up with quite a challenge in Zero Week, taking on San Antonio League power West Covina.

There was some talk about some of the changes and rumors flying around "the Ranch." For now, the only confirmed coaching change will be at offensive coordinator where Joe Ledesma has stepped down. Currently the Dons are in the process of interviewing candidates, although Parsons felt it wouldn't be fair to say whom.

There will be more on the Parsons discussion in the paper soon.

New head coach at Glenn is Anthony Wilson. Was a asst coach with Dusan A. Hope he can turn that program around, many have tried, and keep those kids from going to santa fe.

I just heard that Parsons is stepping down. Looks like ER is going to have to look for a new head coach and with all the cuts being made I don't think they will be able to hire someone outside the dist. Campa find out if this is true, I got it from a staff member.

Any ideas as to why this is happening at El Rancho? It appeared they escaped from what was left of the Reyna Regime and were headed in the right direction! What is going on a The Ranch?

El Rancho Alum said:

If parsons wanted Zamora back why has he not talked to him about comming back. Chino Head coach setlitch, Cal Head coach Arnold, and Whittier D-Cord Gallardo. All have talked to Zamora about coaching with them. Sometimes you can't believe what you read in the paper.

The St. Paul vs. Pioneer game will not be close! St. Paul will destroy Pioneer, it will get ugly quick!

Ledesma did not step down he would never quit at El Rancho. He was let go. I Heard it went something like this. Parsons "Why would I buy a new car if I can't drive it". Joe needs to wake up, El Rancho does not want him to be the next head coach and the way they are treating the young coach Zamora I don't think they want him also.

I like the Los Altos and La Mirada games on La Serna's schedule. Glad to see they are beefing their preseason a little.

I am a little dissapointed in St. Paul dropping El Rancho for Pioneer. The game with the Ranch was a nice rivalry. However, as part of an effort to play local teams St. Paul has to play someone and not every local team wanted to play St. Paul or had room in thier schedule. Pioneer is also looking to upgrade their schedule and why not play St. Paul? It'll be a good test and will have a lot of local interest.

:),

Pioneer beat El Rancho, so i wouldn't call it a downgrade. Ledesma is stepping down because of the hopeless situation at El Rancho; they just can't win.

Anonymous said:

They were 10-4. To win a championship, you play 14 games.

One more thng, what was the reason given for Joe stepping down as the O.C.? Joe is a very good coach and a "El Rancho Guy" why would he step down? Any truth to the rumor he is going back to coach with Coach Setlitch who is now at Chino? Whatever the reason El Rancho is losing a good coach but worse a good man.

La Serna's 2008 Schedule:

Glenn
Norwalk
La Mirada
Warren
Los Altos

West Covina will be better than 6-6, Bell Gardens should be better thn 5-5, and St. Paul dropped El Rancho for Pioneer!!! So would St. Paul be downgrading their schedule that week?

St Paul was 8-4 in '07

Looks like they are taking La Serna's lead and are downgrading their schedule.

Mr. Campa:

Please note that in 2007 St. Paul was 10-4 and not 7-6. As a journalist we expect accurate facts from you even if they are only listed on a blog.
