Paul Castillo, Assistant Commissioner of Athletics for the CIF Southern Section the past eight years, is retiring effective June 30.
Castillo has worn a number of hats during 42 years of being afilliated with education and athletics. He was a teacher, coach and athletic director at Paramount High School for more than 31 years before joining the CIF-SS office where he has administrated the sports of basketball, boys and girls track and field, boys and girls cross country and boys and girls tennis.
In addition to his stint at Paramount High, he has been a teacher at San Fernando Junior High (physical education) and Compton Community College (English).
He served has served on various committees for the CIF-SS, CIF-State, San Gabriel Valley League, Paramount Unified School District and Paramount High School. He was recognized during the 1991-92 school year as the California State Athletic Directors Association (CSADA), Southern Section Athletic Director of the Year, and in 2002, he was inducted into the CIF-SS' Hall of Fame for his accomplishments as tennis coach at Paramount High.
It is certain that those who dealt with him will miss the energy and committment he gave to his many endeavors.

Murray
I also heard from a source with in the panel that Rick Zepeda will be offered the job. everything you said about Rick is right on. He was the best choice ER could make, I guess they got it right this time. Look for a good shot, at the ranch to get them going in the right direction. League title I don't think so, but a good solid, tough El Rancho team yes.
Yo, Mike,
The people who have dealt with him might be interested. Not sure why
you find it offensive. As for the new coach at El Rancho, until it's
official with the information coming from the principal or athletic
director, I'll leave the speculation up to you posters.
But thanks for posting/participating.
Come on Murray! Why don't you post things that people care about? There are so many things going on right now and this is what you post? What about the new coach at ER? Take a look at what Robledo and Scott do on their prep sites! I feel sorry for you prep supporters in the Whittier area.
