No. 1, Charter Oak No. 2 and Diamond Ranch No. 3.

La Habra, moving up a division in 2008, is No. 2 behind two-time
defending champion El Dorado.

how bout st pauls freshmen team, therye said to be the next cif champs
Friar Guy?
I guess you forgot the most important stat, How many Championships that Servite has won in the last 10 years. Big fat zero, goose egg, zip, nada, none. So before you go tooting your big horn about the lower levels win a championship first. It just might bring you some credibility. You guys are just like the Yankees. All the talent but can't win a Championship.
I talked to Troy Thomas personally and he told me he was thrilled for SP and the Championship season we had last year. I bet one thing for sure, ask any coach and they will tell you same.
Now go get your world championship banner for the lower levels and run around Anaheim and celebrate!
No speed, no size, no athletes.... 2007 CIF Champs!

Why are we playing SP? We are so far ahead of them it's pathetic. The SP Frosh (29-6) and JV (30-0) got smashed again. So far in two years, we have outscored them 151 -19 (including varsity). No speed, no size, no athletes. Sad.
Ranch Man:
SP doesn't play ER this year. They had two years to shock the world and got rolled.
Ranch Man,
What are you babbling about??? The Ranch doesn’t ever play SP this year so ER chance to shock the world has past. You’re just going to have to settle for last years overtime win over SF because from the looks of thing no one is expecting anything shocking coming out of Pico!
Ranch Man:
Wouldn't the Ranch have to play SP to shock the world like you say? I don't see the Ranch anywhere on the schedule. Perhaps they though they would get better competition against Pioneer.
Hey john vadurro,
Shift + Caps lock. Thank you.
El Rancho will shock the world against SP.
Yo, john vadurro: No. 23 is returning letterman running back/defensive back Deion Williams; No. 24 is defensive back Osagie Odiase; No. 25 is linebacker Michael Demery. Odiase and Demery are transfers from Mayfair HS.
DEAR MR DJ WHATEVER YOU CALL IT IAM GLAD TO SEE THAT THE COACHING STAFF AT ST PAUL REALIZED ON WHAT THEY HAVE TO BUILD ON TO COMPETE .BUT THAT WAS NOT THE ANSWER I WAS LOOKING FOR. DOES ANYBODY KNOW THE NAMES OF#23#24#25 ST. PAUL
Mr Vadduro,
You do not remember these players because they were not there last year. These players are on "Firehouse" grants. They are part of the Pete Gonzalez rent-a-player program. The culture at SP is much different than it has been in the past. I commend the true Swordsmen who committ to the program for 4 years.
Servite 38 - SP 6
I dont think pre-season polls mean much in the grand scheme of things. In 1972 El Rancho was ranked #3 in CIF, with All-American running back Mark Bailey returning for his senior season. Result was the Dons 11 year league championship string was snapped, and they ended the season at 1-8. They lost the majority of games by 3-7 points. Dynamics during the season, injuries, players not playing to their potential, others not expected to contribute, contributing are all reasons why pre-season polls mean nothing.
Look at the SouthEastern Division pre-season poll. They have Santa Fe, California, and Burbank listed. All three lost to El Rancho last year. Burbank having a 3-7 record last year, got ripped by El Rancho during scrimmage.
The Dons return 5 starters on offense and 5 of defense. I expect the team to be solid, but must step up if they expect to win league this year.
Good luck to all teams this year!

I WAS AT THE BLUE AND WHITE GAME SATURDAY, AND FROM WHAT I SEE ST PAUL HAS GAINED A LOT OF SPEED ON DEFENSE #23#24#25 HAS CHANGED THE LOOK OF THE DEFENSE FROM LAST YEAR THESE BACKS HAVE A LOT MORE RANGE AND ALOT OF DIFFERENT LOOKS ON DEFENSE . QUESTION ,CAN ANYBODY TELL ME THERE NAMES ON #23#24#25 DONT REMEBER THEM LAST SEASON.
idiot bloggers on both sides of the issue. keep it to football
K so another dumb comment by someone from SP...
so here is my take on the article.
SF once again gets all the respect in the world AS THEY SHOULD being ranked #5 in the division over Cal and others.
Although SF has taken an enormous blow losing both Linebacker coaches in Yessian and Fernandez, that was the only spot without returners with experience, they should be ok since they have such a strong D-line and secondary returning. Football is won in the trenches and mark my words NOBODY WILL HAVE A BETTER D-LINE OR O-LINE than SF this year in the area
The other 3 teams ranked 1-3 are all very strong and solid and I would be very surprised to see a local team beat them.
as fas as SP being ranked 3rd in their divsion was not a surprise...they should actually be ranked lower. They lost ALL of their defense who WON THAT CHAMPIONSHIP last year. They lose Aubrey Haynes as well as half of their O-line. I dont even expect SP to win their own league. Alemany has a very strong team returning.
Yo, Anonymous: You're jumping to assumptions, again. I don't approve of "racial nonsense. " The sentence to which you refer is followed by a question mark, hence I interpret it as a question, not a statement, until the author tells me otherwise.
Hard to believe you would approve of this racial nonsense Murray. Just another sign that St. Paul fans really are clueless as to what happens outside of their tiny little campus in Santa Fe Springs.
I read a story on Dominguez in an LA paper. They are returning 10 players each on offense and defense led by 4 year starting linebacker and USC bound Simmons. They won the division 2 of 3 years and lost in the semis last year. This is a black and white issue...like whats on paper. Pre season polls are an educated guess on whats on paper and I'm surprised SP is 3rd considering they lost their entire defense and Aubry Haynes. I would love for another local team like SP to win another CIF Championship.
Out recruiting!!!, does St Paulist the ptoential recruits online somewhere?
Hey Rich A,
Let me guess...you went to St. Paul, right? lol
Another finely educated St. Paul student ???
"...there black?"-Try they are or they're.
"WHERE THE DEFENDING..." - Try we are or we're
ST.PAUL----behind palmdale and domingues why? because there black? WHO in their right mind would pick this cif southern section's poll.WHERE THE DEFENDING CHAMPIONS!!!!
