Thanks for clearing that up. At first it sound like you were washing away alot of history. " mile- away "

hummmm,

I can't exactly comprehend what you are trying to say but I'll try to give a response... I didn't say last year was the greatest, I said it was one of the greatest...

Last year's team was 5-4 going into the last week of the season after getting outcoached and outplayed by Alemany at "the Pit"... They had to beat St. Francis to get into the playoffs, and almost came up short if not for a great game from the defense and a sensational run by Haynes...

Once they got into the playoffs, they had to be underdogs in at least two of the four games including the final...

They handled Quartz Hill 2 hours away in the desert, than had to hear how Culver City was undefeated had was gonna run em off the field in the second round... Than had an incredible comeback against Gahr in the Semi's... They than thumped a heavily favored Palmdale in the Finals...

If that is not a "Great Run" I don't know what is...

Mile- away, You know SP histroy--So we will have to wait for another 45 years or so? For an other great run? The pass histroy was'nt that of a big THING! We have as i can remember been proud of all accomplishment. MAYBE DIVISION #1?

Thanks Mr. Murray,

Let's be honest... Aubrey Haynes is too slow to be a D1 HB, and too small to be D1 FB... David Flores, well let's just he's a better athlete than a student...

With all that said, they absolutely crushed the Division III (Western) playoffs and deserve every ounce of credit they got and will get for one of the greatest runs in St. Paul history... Those guys put it all on the line when asked and delivered in key situations... Of course they had a coaching staff, team, and everyone else at St. Paul behind them and put them in situations to excel... That defense was one of the best and puzzled team after team, with "St. Paul guys" like Adrian Gallegos, Matt Lopez, Albert Hernandez, Casey Camacho, Daniel Cordova, and Ryan Rosenthal.

The offense, with possibly the smallest O-line in the playoff also came up big... "St. Paul guys" like David Diaz, DJ Krattenmaker, Chris Lopez, Luis Garcia, Paul Lopez, Edwin De Dios, just to name a few all had vital parts in the Championship run that will be remember forever in their lives and everyone else who had a part in it.

So if anything, let the school, kids, community(all involved) be proud of their accomplishment and stop the crazy talk... who knows it could a while before it happens again...

Sorry Samuel and Anonymous.....

I went by the info given to me by our former player on the sidelines, as the running back for fullerton was running all over Pierce. I apologize for the mis understanding ...to you and to Aubrey Haynes. It really was meant to be a compliment to him and turns out to be a false statement.
Samuel, I am a phony.....to what?... I don't pay alot of attention to player names when officiating, but I would talk to the sideline players during a timeout or change of possession....But I thought the info was accurate while I was on the field. Sorry I upset you.

I thought I put, "Yes, I DIDN'T see Aubrey Haynes, but the running back for Fullerton and our player from Cantwell both looked good". Sorry Samuel and Anonymous for the misunderstanding. Samuel, I am not a phony, just misworded. Sorry for the confusion. Will not comment any longer, the name callin' is unnecessary.

Does Murray hate La Serna? JK, I don't think you hate LS Murray, I just think you should not respond to some of the stuff posted on this blog/forum. I mean honestly you (or whoever started this blog) really need to consider the type of atmosphere you have allowed to manifest in this blog. This forum is nothing more than a place for area players, parents and heck maybe even coaches to talk trash to one another. If you need to respond, do so in a manner that supplies the facts without such comments as quoted above.
Also, why don't you just set up rules and regulations for this blog. Have people register and provide actual accounts with e-mails so that whoever crosses the boundaries of polite debate/conversation are banned. It is not that hard is it? (I'm really asking I have no idea. Just going off of other forums that I have visited in the past)
Well in closing I'd like to say good luck to all area teams this season and may no player get hurt/injured.

Are you kidding me? I don't think Coach Arnold is the type to talk trash & nonsense like that. There is a lot of work to do for this offense but, I believe it will be more balanced than last year. This year you have to account for the QB along with the two backs. G. Perea is a natural receiver, he will get better each week, but the line will be the key to success.

Where are you from Del Rio League Fan? Sounds like La Serna, according to Roger

Roger Murray said:

Yo, Del Rio Fan; Perhaps you should try just taking a comment at its face value and not basing your response on innuendo created by you. Cal coach Jim Arnold DID NOT SAY he (or his team does not) "...have to worry about any other team (Cal is) going to play other than Santa Fe." His quote was that Garden Grove Pacifica might be the toughest team the Condors will face, other than Santa Fe. And in no way was it meant to imply any disrespect for fellow Del Rio League members or the rest of the Condors' schedule. But then, maybe your's is just a vindictive attempt to build interest in the California-La Serna game later. If so, it's really not necessary.

Hey Arnold (Cal),
So you don't have to worry about any other team you are going to play other than Santa Fe? If you can only run because you can't even attempt to throw (3-9 vs. LM). I think your worrys have just started. 7 and 8 in the box is what you will see for the rest of the year. Good luck.

Just trying to be REAL! My son is a good athlete and has been a good STUDENT also, I want him to always respect his opponent, whether the opponent is better or worse than his team. Play hard and the outcome is what it is. Should be a credit to both programs, to play each other as each division is vastly different.

I also felt SP's team from last season did not get the credit they deserved, for the accomplishments from last year. I don't know what SP has this season, but that league is TOUGH and to finish above .500 is an accomplishment, let alone winning a CIF TITLE.

Lastly, I officiated Fullerton College 2 weeks ago and yes Aubrey Haynes is there and looks GREAT! Cantwell has a player there also. They both look great.

The extent of Aldecoa's injury is unknown at this time. My guess is that he will be out until league that starts three weeks from now. ER has a bye in week 4. For those interested, Galan is having a great season thus far. In three games, he has surpassed his rushing total of all of last year!

Good luck to all Del Rio teams!

elrancho said:

No we cannot ask Galan to duplicate what both backs could have done this season, that will be a tall task, but I am sure Galan will do quite a lot, when it's all said and done Galan very well could rush for 1500 this season or more, we shall see. Believe me I dont cry and I dont look to belittle other teams by saying that we should have won a game this season or any other season, I get disappointed that we did not execute the way we had to and didn't do our assignments.

Aldecoa's injury was a knee injury, it very well could be torn ligaments, no one really knows, I hope for the best but things do not look good. Either way Galan will do his best to carry the load, if need be then perhaps SO. Leonard Baldwin will start getting some carries, perhaps Bryan Turner will get some carries, we shall see.... I am not making any excuses about anything, even without Aldecoa, ER is still a very solid well coached team and still has a great shot to win league this year.

Please don't ask to get Joey Jordan... sure he is a smart and clever offensive "guru," but his coaching skills are horrible. The Cal-Hi coaching staff will find a way to utilize their play-makers on offense effectively.

The pressure is on the Cal Hi coaching staff. Let's see what kind of magic coach Arnold will have for us against Pacifica. Right now the Defense is the only thing holding this team together. The offense is leaving the defense out on the field to fend for itself. There is absolutley no passing game. Teams are putting 8-9 guys in the box and stuffing the run. They have man coverage on the recievers and G. Perea can't find the open man. Is it his fault? No, they are running a option series out of the spread. This aint fooling nobody. G. Perea is a true Option QB. They would be better of running out of the power I or wish bone. They have enough talent in the back field to do this. You can still pass out of the powerI. The line this year is under sized but they have good technique. Why not pull more and cross block. Has the imagination left coaching? Hell, why don,t you see if Joey Jordan is available. Now there is a creative mind. Come on coach Arnold! Bring back some Old School Football!

elrancho,

I meant league!!

And Galan is a great player and Im sure he will do a great job carrying the load, but to ask him to duplicate what him and aldecoa could have done together is a bit too much to ask. The question at ER should who will step up and try and fill in what aldecoa did for this team both offensively and defensively, and you cant forget about on the field leadership.

Btw what is the injury? is he really out for the year?

Cantwell Dad said:

Good luck St Paul and let's have a great game. You guys play in the 2nd toughest division in the CIF (next to Pac 5....Inland???I think you guys would beat some of the teams in that division!)I am a Referee, that officiated a SP game lsat season and can vouch that last season, SP would have beaten teams in the Pac 5 easily and should have had more consideration for the state game! I haven't seen the SP team this season, but I hope my son plays hard and competitive and as well as the entire Cantwell team. Hopefully we can get a victory. Good Luck to ALL!

I read this blog alote of times and I always see positive comments from the running back from El Rancho. Does anybody know how bad the injury he sustained last friday is? Damm! that's terribe hopefully he's not a senior. My heart goes out to him and hopefully it's not a bad injury and he can come back and perform like he usually has. Stay positive kid my prayers are with you for a speedy recovery.

Aldecoa or no Aldecoa, the ranch is coming to play every week, Galan will put this team on his back and believe me he will excel! Either way get a clue, Galan and Aldecoa did not run all over anyone during preseason, it wasn't until league that these 2 did some damage, you got it all twisted...

hmmm said:

This weeks game for SF against than San Clemente is more than just a "test". San Clemente is a good D1 program, lets not forget that SF is in D7 and San Clemente is far from a push-over team. San Clemente wins this game on paper but we will see what happens on the field. SF will get a great game by turner and the D-line and o-line...its gonna come down to rest of team to see if they can beat a bigger, sronger, and possibly faster team.

Sucks what happened to Aldecoa, great talent and the heart of ER on both sides of the ball, my thoughts go out to him for a speedy and healthy recovery. I would have liked to seen ER at full strength during league play this year. so now we are going to have to read post of "el rancho" and other don fans to why they didnt win every game again this year, just like they almost won every game last year.

Your not serious when you say that Cantwell is ready for SP? I saw Cantwell play last week vs. Bassett. SP jv team will beat Cantwell's varsity. Prediction, SP 45 Cantwell 7. And thats a cheap touchdown late in the fourth quarter. Wake up and smell the swordmens baby!
Finally, the only thing you should bring is extra ice! And when it's over be gracious that it was only 38 points!

Good luck to all teams

hey el rancho stop the crying. Every week its starting to get old.Did you not have hese same backs last year, i don't remember them running all over anybody in league. It was just in that weak preseason aside from St. paul. You don't hear the pioneer people crying about their regular mvp quarterback not playing look who they are playing this preseason and the points they are putting up. you go to battle with what you have, make no excuses for injuries they are part of the game.

Friday night EL Rancho’s game was exciting. My dad and I were in disbelief, when Eric Zuniga #99 315lbs lined up in the backfield for several offensive plays. “ He looked like a Hugh Powerful Mack truck” said my dad . Bell Gardens played their hearts out. I was told they’re a young team, can’t wait for next year.

randthaman said:

Very true El Rancho...If Aldecoa's injury ends up being as serious as it looked, the teams in the Del
Rio league should consider themselves very lucky. With the different styles of Galan(Slasher, great vision, speed) and Aldecoa(power, speed)I really think that ER could've gone a lot further than people were predicting. From what I hear they should be finding out how extensive the injury is in the next couple of days. I also hear that Aldecoa was feeling a lot better on Saturday morning...Either way,Galan is the leader of that team and I'm sure he'll be doing his best not to let that team down.

I'm not sure what game you were watching but, the defense could not get off the field in the first half against an average La Mirada offense. This defense is not close to being "GREAT" at this point. They will have to step up their game which they did in the 2nd half.

The offense will be just fine once they find their indentity. The spread package seems to suit the personnel, a lot of weapons to account for. Perea had a bad game throwing the ball, but kept his head & lead them to 2 TD's for the win. Nice job Greg.

SP Alumni

Maybe they should turn Cal into SP & sell their souls for transfers like your alumni coach did. That worked real well, got you a ride out of town to Cerritos. I especially liked the Grigsby move, hurry up & get him eligible so I can beat Santa Fe. How about some loyality & character, something SP knows nothing about. You SP bloggers rank right up there with Raider fans, no clue about football or life!

Keep working Cal, there is a lot to improve on.

It was a pretty good game against BG, but ER should have not let BG back in it, when Aldecoa went down in the 2nd quarter when ER was up 28-7, the whole team was stunned. It wasn't until the 4th quarter that Galan put this team on his back and led the way to victory. Josh Perea may have thrown 2 picks, but he is playing really well, Anthony Ayala had a very solid game at WR.

If Aldecoa is indeed out for the season then my heart goes out to him and his family seeing the concern of his family during the BG really made me sad. In my opinion he is the best all around player in this league, he is a great RB, he is a great blocker, he flies around on defense and likes to play physical. I am hoping for the best, but things are not looking good, the Del Rio league likely dodged a bullet after that injury, that 2 headed monster for ER was going to be deadly. Galan has the heart of a lion, rusing for over 500 yards in 3 games is pretty dam good for a kid who is 5'5 at best.

im a Cal fan, but im a lil worried about the offense, defense is GREAT...
maybe if we had a Pioneer or Santa Fe type of offense we would be unstoppable..
we shall see...its gonna be tough to pull it out against Pacifica, they are a good team, returning a great QB and RB..hopefully our offense shows up against them and our defense does their stuff...
:]

The El Rancho vs. Bell Gardens rivalry lives on!!! What a game. Unfortunately for BG their second half comeback fell short again. The Dons running game and great QB play from Josh Perea proved to be too much for the Lancers. Aldecoa's injury is something that could end up costing ER a great season, but Galan stepped up again and put that team on his shoulders. What a heart that kid has!
