ER Faithful; Our over all hopes and concerns is that our new coaches, in whom we are extremely grateful to have. Will give our boys every opportunity to perform at their best, whether or not it result in a win. That the players leave it all on the field, hold their heads up and congratulate the opponent. The consensus is that our coaches have hit the mark. SO COACHES KEEP UP THE GOOD JOB!!!

Good article about El Rancho. Hopefully they will be back to full strength soon, loosing a important player in a competitive conference race changes the results of teams who ER with and without both running backs. Hopefully he will be healthy soon.

Parent of Cantwell?

I am a graduate of Cantwell and I must say that I was very disappointed in what I saw last Friday at St.Paul. Not that Cantwell lost, but the way they behaved before,during and after the game. This all stems from the coaching staff and the way they teach the game.
First, showing up right before the game? What did that accomplished? Nothing! All they did was piss off an opponent that was far more prepared to play. I personally know Coach Gonzalez and we must all thank him for not running up the score . The game could have easily been 62-0.
Second, I witnessed something that I have never seen before. Cantwell players talking crap on the field. We as alumni must speak up because this is unacceptable. Play with dignity and play hard has always been something that Cantwell has always been known for. Let the other schools do all that garbage. i hope this is a learning experience for those boys. Getting beat by a better team is not shameful. But all the talking just make's it worse.
Finally, The coaching staff should show some respect to opposing teams and there fight songs and give the respect that was given to them. Acting like jerks does nothing for your team. It just makes you look like sore losers. Coach Smolin, I really think that your trying your best as a coach but wake and smell the coffee. This is not Bassett, we have always prided ourselves as good young men. Don't forget it!

Always proud of St. Paul win or lose! I enjoy reading about all the local teams in the Whittier Daily News. All those young men and women in every sport deserve our respect for going out there every single day practicing and playing their hearts out! As fans and parents please don't forget how they must feel, especially when they are on the losing side. The same goes for every sport, young men and young women work very hard for that victory. My daughters played basketball and my son played football and it was a joy going to every game and cheering them on. It was disheartening whenever I saw parents being rude to the players. Lets be bigger than that and encourage our local youth and be proud they are doing something positive in their lives and contributing to their schools! Best wishes to St. Paul, La Serna, Cal, Santa Fe, Whittier, Pioneer, El Rancho, Cantwell, Amat, Montebello, Schurr, Whittier Christian, La Mirada, and La Habra! Sorry if I left any locals out!

Your enthusiasm for the game is to be admired even though you don't know a damn thing about the game and based on your behavior on Saturday you have your head up your a**. Channel that energy into supporting your team.

Ok, Mr. "Parent of Cantwell". I'm a proud parent of a freshmen player at SP. We had NO sophmore's or Junior's like you claim we had on Saturday. That was our "FRESHMEN" team. But, I do know for a fact that you had Sophmore's out there who suit up in Varsity games. One in purticular was at linebacker (#2) and sat out a Freshmen (#21) who starts at that position at the Freshmen level. Your whole interier line where Sophmore's in that Freshmen game. And I bet you didn't even know that. And they still couldn't beat us!!! You sound like the same clown that was calling us Cheaters!!!! He had the same accent you have... I was lucky to understand bit's and pieces of your comment. GO SWORDSMEN!!!!!

Paul (Must go and Anonymous especial) you are a cheater's yes way you use on the JV game VARSITY players and on the game for FRESHMAN you use JUNIOR'S and Sophomore's you have big school and a lot of player but you s.Paul was afraid of us way you don't play with Freshman only on Saturday our team FRESHMAN are just FRESHMAN boys and JV we have 4 boys sophomore's way you are a CHEATER'S we use only freshman the word FRESHMAN is only boys for 9 grade no 10 no 11 I'm sorry for you team you have to GROWING coach's and parents we are proud of our boys we are div. 7 and you ?? but on other observation way you don't play JV and VARSITY the same day because you are CHEATER'S i don't find on other word and also for all the people on s.Paul the person on Saturday the tried to fight was s. okay about the comments on #18 being too small and picking fights, If he was picking fights I don't recall any yellow flags against him. every negative person on this blog needs to shut up. let the kids play the game of football. when did it become such a big deal for parents and former area players to get into the mix of things. football is more than about bragging rights and saying "We kicked your ass Friday/Thursday night!" It's about coming together as a team and achieving one goal selflessly (spelling?). Honestly why are these blogs even in existance? Let the kids play, let them speak through the sound of their pads and let them play with their hearts through competitive actions. Actions speak louder than words and we all need to just sit back and support each other without bad-mouthing other kids and programs. Once again let the reporters reports and let the kids play. We don't need all this nonsense.

ok "ANONYMOUS" I was not at the JV game, but would like to apologize for that persons behavior as a Cantwell supporter. I don't know why the team left during your Alma Mater, but I am sure the kids were told to load the bus, by coaches. Send an email to them asking why? Don't do the normal thing and bad mouth the entire school, there are plaenty things wrong with both programs, I AM SURE!
Instead of insults and trash talk, congratulate your team for a great game, they came to play and put it on Cantwell.
Hope they do the same against St. John Bosco.

This was the same St. Paul team that got its but handed to it by Servite last year and turned its back during Servite's alma mater. But I guess if you got your but handed to you at every level it would be frustrating.

What is up with Cantwell? Is this must go clown a typical representative of the Cantwell faithful?

I was surprised by the behavior I saw exhibited by Cantwell fans at all 3 (frosh, JV and Varsity) games. Especially the guy who kept yelling cheater and the one who tried to pick fights at the frosh game. I know it is frustrating for all your teams to lose as badly as they did this year (it could of been worse) but show some class in defeat.

Then for Cantwell team to show up 15 minutes before kickoff and to walk off the field during the SP alma mater....talk about a lack of class. If Cantwell wants to be one of the big boys....act like it.

I also think this Must Go guy owes #18 a public apology for his accusations. #18 is a tough aggresive player who got where he is through hard work and he isn't going to let guys bigger than him push around. What's a matter? Did your boys go home crying to their mommies?

Good job Cal, La Serna and SF playing teams well from outside the conference helps everyone. The schedules are set and all teams have upgraded the competition. If Pioneer is that beat up going into league I can't beleive that it helped them. They play SP right before league?
Only time will tell if that was a good or bad idea.

The incredible thing about the St. Paul vs. Cantwell game is that it should've been 49-0 if it weren't for penalties.
